Respectful/Rude: As a younger kid, Shi was very sociable and polite on the surface. His mother and father taught him the importance of respecting authority and staying in one's place. However, on the inside Shi is actually extremely rude and has a foul mouth. He often time stops himself from speaking because of his swearing problem. Due to his parents' constant drilling of being respectful to authority and what have you, Shi has a dislike for rules and regulations; preferring to do things his way rather than with restrictions. Balancing these two sides of himself sometimes causes Shi to speak to himself out loud. When someone points out that the fact that he's talking to himself, he acts as if he was completely oblivious to it. However, in reality, it is done purposely.
Sense of Obligation: Despite all of this, Shi does have a soft side. He doesn't like to leave people who are in need. It was often seen in his child hood for him to bring home injured animals, asking his mother and father to take care of them. If they refused, he would hide them in his room and nurture them for as long as he could. This feeling of obligation to the needy was greatly amplified when he became an official shinobi. Despite the rest of his ways, this side of Shi has to be the most prominent. His entire persona changes at the sight of an injured ally, or even a stranger. Due to this, he is very protective of those close to him. Family, friends, and lovers are all held, not near his heart, but in his heart. History: After completing the Chunin Exams and successfully passing, Shi's sensei, Rokusen, presented a large scroll to him. Ignorant to what it was, Shi foolishly denied the gift. However, after being taught the Summoning Technique, Shi was later able to figure out why the scroll was given. Opening the scroll and seeing the all of the empty summoner openings, Shi wasted no time in signing the Slug Contract. Sadly, even after signing, Katsuyu chose not to teach him. Only after a year's time was he able to convince the great slug to work with him.

- CHAPTER ONE:
Born to a normal mother and father, Shi came into the Haruno family and world about seventeen years ago. Throughout his childhood Shi became friends with an abundance of the native kids, often time playing hide-and-seek with them, unknowingly testing skills that would later on become essential. Entering the Ninja Academy at age 10, Shi never actually fancied the logistics of the ninja world. Rules, guidelines, restrictions, they all irritated him to no end and with this attitude, he was often found in trouble. Due to being constantly suspended from the academy, Shi did not graduate until four years later, at the age of fourteen. Assigned to a squad with a taijutsu specialist as a sensei (Rokusen), and two team mates (San and Sani) who were already much skilled then himself, Shi saw everything as a challenge. Despite having his team mates already significantly better than him, Shi was able to keep up with them due to his neigh excellent chakra control.
On their first mission, the squad was assigned to simply patrol the border for three days and three nights. As the squad deployed from the village, the day was nearing sun set. It would be a two days walk to the border and there had been reports of bandits polluting the country's routes and trails. The squad continued on their journey for a day and a half before they encountered their first sign of trouble; they spotted an unconscious man laying in the middle of the road. Clothes tattered and face decorated with bruises, the old man's beat up body had already caught the attention of the starving vultures who circled him in the sky above. Immediately Shi suggested that they go and help the man, but his sensei ordered caution over morality. Clinching his fist and biting his tongue, Shi could do nothing but continue walking and leave the man there.
Shi remained silent for the rest of the day and his head hung low with disappointment and anger. The team finally arrived to their border station hours after encountering the rag dolled man and soon set up their camp. As Tsukiyomi began making her presence known in the night time sky, Shi and the rest of the squad prepared for their rounds. After gathering their things, Rokusen made it a point to address what happened with the squad. He looked to Shi, whose face had bore the same expression since the seeing the beat up man, and told him, "A shinobi's mission isn't to be compromised by things outside of the orders that were given. That includes ones own personal feelings and thoughts. I did what I did because it was best for the mission, not because of my personal feelings." Shocked by the remark, Shi grew visibly angrier. Trying to not to step out of place, Shi rudely pushed past everyone and exited the camp site.
After pushing them out of the way, he ran outside and secluded himself. In seclusion he thought, That can't be how a true ninja acts and thinks. To leave that man there.. in that condition... disgusting. Disgraceful! A real ninja would have helped him.. tried to at least see if he was okay. I will never let myself become cold enough to do such a thing. In fact.. His thoughts were cut short by his team mate, Sani. She had only come to tell him that it was time to go and that he needed to come on. The team started their journey through the border, repairing broken border signs, escorting merchants safely through troubled areas, and even clearing paths of debris and fallen trees. On the last night, Shi grew even more disappointed because of the lack of real "action" that he was expecting. Chikashou... I actually thought that we would encounter something worth telling about.. All we've done is -- ..! Yet again his thoughts were cut off; however, this time by the sound of an explosion a couple miles from the team's location. Smoke ascended in the air, birds flew frantically from the site, and the wildlife began scattering into their already prepared refuges. Rokusen soon ordered that they go investigate what was going on, and instinctively the genin leaped into formation and dashed to the the explosion site. Once there, all they could see beyond the thicket of smoke was two silhouettes standing in the epicenter. One of the silhouettes stood tall, firm, and massively with its hand outstretched upwards in an angle. At the end of his arm was the other silhouette clinched tightly in the hands of the first by the neck. Flabbergasted by the sight, Rokusen ordered them not to attack just yet. Subsequently, a loud snapping noise rung throughout the area just as the smoke cleared. Once dissipated, a lifeless body was thrown to the ground and a tall, aggressive, pale skinned man stood above it. His hair was tied into four ponytails and his eyes were pitch black. He soon noticed the squad watching and grinned sadistically.
"Heh... Well, well, looks like I've found my next meal for the day..!" In the blink of an eye the man had already accelerated right in the middle of the fear paralyzed genin and was preparing to bifurcate them with his already drawn katana.
Suiton: Suijinheki! Just as the blade was about to make contact with the first of the three children, Rokusen managed to manifest a water wall in front of the malicious man. Wasting no time, Rokusen manipulated the wall to come crashing down on the man and managed to wash him away from his genin. Leaping and landing right in front of them, he spoke "My mission was simply border patrol.. However.. when you try to touch my students, that's when it becomes personal!" Shi could only laugh in his mind as his sensei was doing the very thing that he told them not to. Just as he finished his remarks, the attacker stood up and laugh maniacally. "HA! You think that I give a rat's ass about your mission?! Or your students! I abandoned the ninja life when I figured out that my blood lust could never be quenched. And besides..", making a slight pause, he erected his hands mid center of his chest and swiftly began performing hand seals, "The sound of a Hidden Valley ninja taking their last breath is one of the best sounds in the world. Katon: Hibashiri! Within seconds of the final seal being created, streams of fire manifested themselves around the attacker and soon set themselves on a collision course with the squad. Scatter!, said Rokusen. Within moments of impact, the entire squad managed to leap into the trees and dodge the initial flames. However, serving only as a distraction, the attacker had already managed to blur in front of Sani and connect a devastating kick to her stomach. Her body was launched effortlessly toward the earth below. Shi, catch her! She's falling too fast to survive the impact!, yelled out Rokusen. Wasting no time, Shi instantly ran and began performing his own hand seals. "Shit, I'm not going to make it in time.. Shunshin no Jutsu!" just as Sani was about to make contact with the ground, Shi appeared diving through the air just in time to catch and roll with her body. "Arigatou, Shi-kun..", muttered Sani as the pain of the kick climaxed still through her body. Don't let your guard down, you two! Before being able to say 'thank you', the attacker had already begun his next assault. "Suiton: Mizurappa!", soon water came gushing toward Shi and Sani from the attacker's gullet. Thinking quickly, Shi slammed his hands into the snake seal and erected a small, earthen wall in front of the two. Doton no Jutsu! Sadly, being much weaker than the bandit, cracks began to spread like roots through the wall as it began to succumb to the pressure of the water. Before this happened, Shi was able to grab a hold of Sani and move her back to safety. As the team regroup, Rokusen began giving instructions I don't have time to say the entire plan, so just follow my lead. Rokusen then suddenly threw four smoke bombs across the field. After blooming into clouds of thick, purple smoke the field was soon veiled completely by it. "Child's play..", said the bandit just as he swiped his blade. The momentum from his swing was so great that it dismissed the concealing smoke completely. However, to his surprise, Rokusen had managed to get behind him and land the first hit of his on going combo attack. Konoha Gōriki Senpū! Dealing bone shattering attacks to the bandit, Rokusen used one final kick to launch him over into the trees. "Now's my chance!", thought San. As the bandit continued on involuntary trajectory path, San planted four kunai in set intervals, each laced with an explosive note. Just as the enemy landed near San, he spoke out This is for Sani! Bakuhatsu! as he shouted the tags exploded around the attacker before he could recover from the kick completely. As the flames rung out, you could see a small torpedo protrusion coming out of the ascending smoke. The enemy managed to narrowly evade the full impact of the attack. "Shit! They're actually pretty good when they work together. I'll have to resort to taking a hostage.", thought the bandit. After recovering on the ground, he set his sights for Sani once more. He wasted no time in taking off towards Sani. However, this time Sani was prepared and was out to get her revenge. She began hand sealing as the bandit approached. "It's useless, little girl! You're mi--", as he shouted out, the bandit soon noticed that his body was suddenly completely paralyzed. As he pondered what was going on, Sani giggled and flicked him the bird. Genjutsu: Shibari, Complete. He's all yours, Shi!,she shouted. Flower Ninja Art: Many Blooming Flowers!, yelled Shi as he completed his seals. Using the preset flower petals around the foe, they rose in the air and illuminated randomly like fireflies. After finding their target, the now ignited petals shot towards the still bound bandit. Upon impact a huge explosion was made and this time, it was a for sure direct hit. Soon as the smoke cleared, the bandit's body was revealed to be on the ground in the same manner as the man that the team encountered before. The sight shocked Shi and made him flashback to how he felt when he first saw the helpless man. As if reading his mind, Rokusen spoke, "It isn't the same, Shi. This man was out to harm us, you don't have to feel bad or responsible. You saved many lives by doing what you did today..", he paused and turn to the now assembled squad, smiling, he continued "I'm extremely proud of all of you." To San and Sani, these words sent excitement and a sense of pride through their bodies, but for Shi, he still couldn't get over how badly that the man was hurt. As Rokusen went to dispose of the body, he thought to himself, "I... I can't do this again. Hurting someone like this.. it.. it isn't right. Even if out of self defense, no one should suffer the pain of those wounds. For now on.. I'll be the one that the wounded can run to." After disposing of the body and making sure everyone was okay, the team returned to their camp site and meet up with the next assigned squad. Reporting the events to the next group, the squad soon made their way back to the village.
- CHAPTER TWO:
- Years had passed since his first mission, and since then Shi had grown significantly. He had been on many more missions afterwards with his squad, most of them being a success, however some of them ended in failure. Now at age sixteen, Shi had one goal: to pass the upcoming Chūnin Exams. The Exams had been announced a year prior to it beginning and it captured the attention of all the genin. All of the genin in his class had increased their training methods and habits in hopes of boosting their offensive prowess and besting the next. However, Shi had been spending his time training in a different branch of ninjutsu. Ever since his first mission, Shi had decided to become a medical ninja. His lessons at the hospital began immediately after he arrived back from the mission. Shi worked daily shifts in the hospital so that he could always have some kind of training going. He did everything from home check ups, to being the desk clerk, and even to preparing patients for surgery. Shi, being... Shi, he knew that he would soon have to learn some kind of offensive style of fighting in order to have some kind of chance in being promoted. So, he wasted no time in contacting one of the best medical ninja in the village, a kunoichi named Hoi. Hoi was famous not only for her skill in medical techniques, but also for her extreme physical strength. Hoi was capable of destroying buildings in one punch, creating fissures in the earth with just two of her fingers, and was capable of killing her enemy with just one hit. For this, she caught Shi's attention the moment the exams were announced. Shi inquired about her Chakra Enhanced Strength. Hoi was at first very skeptical in teaching Shi. It took a long time for him to prove to her that he was worthy of being her underling; however, soon enough she caved in. Months had passed since his first training session with Hoi, and Shi's progress was already visible. His evasive skills had increased exponentially, his chakra control increased, and he had even learned the Cherry Blossom Collision through the application of the Chakra Enhanced Strength. Once a year's time had passed, Hoi had grown pretty attached to Shi and began to teach him medical techniques as well. Shi had become extremely skilled while being under the radar with his peers. By the time the exams had begun and the ninja assembled, Shi had met back up with San and Sani. The three conversed shortly about their plans about making it to the very end. All three of them blew past the written portion of the exams. They had trouble during the Forest of Death part of the exam and was barely able to make it out before time was up. In fact, they were the very last people to come out. After entering the new area for the next phase of the exams, it was announced that a tournament was about to begin. Shocked that they would have to fight right after such a tedious phase of the exam, all of the genin looked at each other with slight fear of actually losing. As the opponents were selected at random, San was the first to fight. Losing against a member of the Inuzuka Ichizoku, he was the very first ninja to be eliminated. This highly discouraged Sani and Shi while they were waiting for their names to be called. After two matches passed, a shocked selection was made. Shi was matched up to fight a member of the Senju Ichizoku, Senju Han. Senju Han was the same age as Shi, but had a lot more muscle mass. Standing five inches taller than Shi, instantly the crowd predicted who the winner would be. In addition to Shi's skills being under the radar for a long time, many of the ninja doubted Shi's fighting ability and also thought that he would lose. As the two young men came down into the center of the arena, they stood across from each other with the proctor in the middle of them. After being given the run down of the rules, the proctor begun the match. Instinctively from his medical training, Shi leaped back several meters and gained some distance between the two. The first couple of seconds of the fight were only occupied with a stare down, each one of the men sizing up the other. Finally, Han lunged himself toward Shi. "Senju Bujutsu!", shouted Han, just as he began his quick punches at Shi's face and chest. Reacting in time, Shi was able to dodge and block most of the attacks. Unfortunately, Shi was thrown off by the surprise of how strong Han's attacks actually were. "Damn it! I didn't expect him to be this fast. On top of that, he's much faster than I am. I'll have to --", cut short of his speech, Shi was hit by surprise with a powerful sweep kick. The kick served its purpose to the fullest, tripping up Shi and making him vulnerable for attack. The world began moving in slow motion just as Han reared his other foot back for another attack. Shi crossed his hands over his body as he braced for impact. The kick was so powerful that Shi went flying back into the ground and went skidding across the ground. The crowd's uproar was so intense that the entire stadium shook. Come on, Shi.. You have to get your shit together. You can't lose! Shi managed to pick himself off the ground and regathered himself. Han, who was pumped up by the crowd's cheering, swiftly began hand sealing. "He's coming..!", thought Shi just as Han completed his last seal. Tōton Jutsu Suddenly Han's body began to fade away from view from his feet up. The crowd gasped in amazement as the stout boy disappeared into no more. Everyone was captivated in the suspense as they waited for Han to strike. Hm.. Focus, Shi. You can find him., Shi brought his right hand into a half ram seal in the center of his chest. Clearing his mind and focusing, Shi expanded his sensory technique throughout the field. Everyone stared at Shi, thinking that his actions were futile. However, to their surprise, Shi launched himself into what seemed to be thin air. "Ōkashō!", yelled out Shi just as his fist made contact with the ground. Upon impact a devastating force expanded throughout the ground. The earth underneath around Shi began to break off as fissures made their presence in it. As the force spread, the ground was uplifted and turned into rubble. The once ear ringing stadium suddenly become dumb from the shock of what they witnessed. Han soon came back into view, shocked just as much as the crowd was. Almost got'cha!, thought Shi as he confidently locked eyes with Han. Han knew that if he'd get hit only once by Shi's new found strength that it would be fatal. It was visible that Han developed a slight fear and Shi noticed. Catching him in the moment, Shi lunged himself toward Han once more. Rearing his fist back and molding his chakra finely within it, Shi sent it torpedoing into Han. As the impact was made, the crowd gasped in utter disbelief. As Shi's fist began to rip through the body of the Senju, splinters began flying past his face. His eyes widened as he realized what was going on; that the Kawarimi no Jutsu had been used. A huge relief for the crowd, Han appeared a few meters behind Shi just as the log was fully destroyed. Shi turned around and stared at Han. He could tell by the look in his eyes that Han had narrowly replaced in time to dodge the attack. "I'm not going to lie.. your strength threw me off and you almost actually hit me. However, I am not going to bring shame to my family by losing here., proudly said Han to Shi. In retort, "Now that I've had time to read your movements, I doubt you'll land another hit on me. Bring it!, said Shi. Han took a deep breath and clapped his hands. Shi narrowed his eyes and stared, awaiting for the technique to began. "Fūton: Reppūshō!", yelled out Han as a powerful gale of wind was sent toward's Shi. Shi skillfully strafed away from the attack and leap forward to Han. Just as Shi met up with him, Han had begun his next sequence of hand seals. Choosing a speedy attack over a powerful one, Shi sent his feet into Han's hands. This forced him to stop his sealing in order to block off the attack. Kicking off of his defending hands, Shi back flipped onto the ground. Han then propelled to Shi with many punches to his chest. Using his medical training to read Han's movements, Shi was able to perfectly block and even counter Han's attacks. To the crowd's surprise, Shi had managed to disrupt Han's attacks after finding an opening on his left side. After successfully striking him, Shi knelled down and soon sent himself ascending violently into the air, his knee protruding out. To his surprise, Han had already recovered and completely parried the attack. He grabbed Shi by the torso and effortlessly threw him into the air. While airborne, Han clapped his hands and performed the same technique again. Shi couldn't dodge the attack in mid air and was hit directly by the strong gale of wind. His body was thrown even further through the air and slammed into one of the trees surrounding them in the arena. Once again, the crowd cheered on Han as he displayed his superior skill. Chikashou..! That one actually hurt. I.. I.., thought Shi as he barely managed to bring himself to his feet. Han could see the opening and sent himself forward once more. Shi, staggering as he recovered, managed to keep distance between the two. While leaping back, Shi hand sealed and shouted, "Hari Senbon!" His hair soon hardened and began launching itself off of his head toward Han's body. Like senbon, his strands of hair assailed Han's body as he flicked out a kunai knife to block them accordingly. Just as his hair stopped attacking, Han managed to swiftly catch Shi off guard by tossing the same kunai his used to block the air at Shi. Shi narrowly managed to duck beneath it as it zoomed through his hair. Just as he lowered himself, Han had appeared and sent another grueling kick into Shi's face. Upon impact, Shi's body was sent flying into like a rag doll along the ground yet again. This time, he rolled with the momentum and managed to skid to his feet. "I'm surprised you've lasted this long, but it's time to end this.", said Han. He utilized the Shunshin no Jutsu to quickly appear in front of Shi. He launched his fist into Shi's solar plexus only for it to be blocked by Shi's hand. Just as those hands interlocked, Han brought his free hand over into another punch. Once again, Shi blocked it. The two young men were now in a battle of physical strength. It was visible that Han was overpowering Shi, only until Shi began molding his chakra into his muscles. Utilizing his chakra enhanced strength, Shi was able to turn the tide of the battle. Just as he began to overpower Han, Shi could see the fear in Han's eyes. This fueled his spirit as he lifted the boy off of the ground completely. "Fuck Yeah!!", shouted Shi as he brought Han's body slamming into the ground beneath them. The impact was so great that the ground underneath them cracked and broke apart. The crowd gasped intensely as smoke from the hit veiled the results of the attack. As the smoke cleared, you could see Shi standing over Han's unconscious body. The stadium could only remain silent at the results of the battle. The proctor walked over to check to see if Han could keep going and concluded that he could not. The winner is Haruno Shi! echoed through the still silent stadium. San and Sani were the only ones cheering and yelling in congratulations for Shi. However, those two voices uplifted Shi's spirit even more and he completely forgot about the doubting minds surrounding him. He smiled brightly as he was escorted back into the stands. The rest of the battles went on and soon the exams came to an end. As the winners were announced, they were also automatically promoted to Chūnin. Among the list, Shi's and Sani's name were called. The two rejoiced proudly as their names were called, but still felt sympathy for San. San reassured them that he was fine and that he was extremely proud of them as well. The two made their way to the center along with the other two winners of the exams. There, they each received their Chūnin Flak jacket from the Kage himself. "I give you.. your new Chūnin! These young men and women will be the future academy teachers, doctors, and etc. of this village. On behalf of everyone in the stadium, I think it is safe to say congratulations!", said the Kage. Just as he finished, fireworks exploded in the air and the crowd began to file out. Shi embraced his flak and stared at it for a long time. I.. I did it.. This is the beginning of a new chapter in my life. Let's make it a good one!, thought Shi as he was escorted out of the stadium.
