Clan History: It was during the Second Shinobi War when the Yami clan was born. A girl, who is only known as Saya, was the inhabitant of the village in Yama no Tochi, Tanimuragakure. Since the country was inside the valley, it was heavily defended by outside forces. However, it was also weak to the mountain tribes, that could easily shoot jutsu or arrows down at them while they're defenseless.
The village of Tanimuragakure tried sending shinobi up the mountain to get rid of the barbaric tribes, but they failed. They would lose many shinobi, yet their efforts are in vain. Saya was the daughter of two shinobi that died to the mountain tribes. Her older brother died by the rains of arrows, and Saya did not want to lose her little sister too. Therefore, she went deep into the mountain, and she finally reached the Y lake. She kneeled there and prayed for 3 days nonstop while fasting, begging for peace in her village once again. She swore that she would not leave until the God of the Y Lake grants her prayer.
On the 3rd day, while she was praying, an earthquake happen. And out of a lake came a hooded person. That person was on a dragon, and the person then said, "I have seen thee praying nonstop. Your unwavering faith, I'm proud to have such a believer. Therefore, I shall grant thee a wish. You will gain the power to take down thy enemies. Under one condition. When you die, your soul goes to me, and your soul would be enslaved, under my control. Do you accept?" The man then reached out his hand. Saya, who didn't care about anything as long as she could save her village, accepted.
After accepting the man's power, the man shot a dark ray through her body. After being shot, she felt her chakra changing, slowly merging together with the chakra of the ray. With her new power, darkness manipulation, she went single-handedly against these mountain tribes and defeated them soundly through the night.
As morning breaks through the darkness, all mountain tribes were gone. The villagers, who heard of her deed, made Saya the kage. There were celebrations throughout the week. All was well.
However, happiness and joy do not last forever. The allies of the tribes were seeking for "the one who has the power to defeat legions.", who was Saya. They were searching for Saya to avenge their allies. Hoping for the safety of her village, she decided to leave the village, leaving tracks for the barbarians to follow after. As she left, some villagers, who were grateful to her for saving them, decided to join her. She and her group were successful in drawing the enemy far away from Tanimuragakure. As they were fleeing from the enemy, Saya taught and gave her group the chakra of Darkness manipulation. After her group were well-trained, she decided to defeat the tribes. With the help of her group, they, the Yami clan, successfully defeat the mountain tribes once and for all.
Settling down in a village called Soragakure, many of the Yami clan got married, even Saya. However, death creeps through the corner, Saya remembered her promise to the Guardian of Y Lake. She then leaved the Leadership to her son, and left alone to the Y Lake, where she could finally fulfill her part of the promise.
The members of the Yami clan now resides in Soragakure, where their current leader is Takeshi Yami.
