Mission:

The sun was graciously blessing the sky with its presence as was the constant gentle breeze. Kobachi knew for certain that he was in the Fire Country. He had heard many stories about its beautiful and pleasant weather and was not let down. It felt great and it also looked great. The trees were lush and green with leaves, as was the grass. The birds sang their hymns and the squirrels gathered their meals. It was as if everything was in synch or one, a state of bliss or zen. Kobachi made a mental note to return to this exact place to meditate before his visit to the Land of Fire was over.

AS he made this mental note he noticed a wooden board up ahead in the road. "Hmm?" His eyebrow nudged up as he squinted to read from afar. This would be a real challenge for him sense he hadn't 100% mastered English yet, but he enjoyed a challenge.

Kobachi stopped at the sign and read it outloud, sounding out almost every syllable slowly at a beginners pace.

"There's an unfamiliar person lurking around the outskirts of our village. Figure out what they are doing and report the information to the authorities."

His lips shifted to the side in a thoughtful expression as he began to digest the meaning of the message. " There is . . . a . . . hmm." He chose to skip the word he didn't understand and began moving on, hoping to later understand it. " . . . person . . . hmm." He scratched his head and also skipped that one. "around, ok. Outskirts? Out of the skirts of the village. Figure . . . that means find out. What they are doing and report. A report is like a grade, like in school. So I need to grade them, then tell someone named Au-thor-ity." He took a moment and removed a notepad. Scriblling down the words he didn't understand, he smiled and kept the message in mind before continuing the journey. He wasn't sure who or why he was going to grade this person, but he was enthusiastic and excited to be helping.

The luxurious day hadn’t gone unnoticed by the well bundled up woman who too was making her way through the countryside of the Fire Country. Masked and armed with the apparel of that of a ninja, any who encountered her wouldn’t have suspected anything less than a mediocre ability in combat. Highly unusual to resorting to violence though, Kami preferred assessing the situation before resorting to such drastic measures. A few couple dozen meter behind Kobachi. Incapable of seeing such long distances though all she noticed was a blurry figure dressed in whatever shade of color they described that. She primarily dressed in various dark violets, white and blacks. No stranger to the monochromatic world.

A bit on edge she, Kami walked along behind as stealthily as possible so she could assess the possible outcomes from confronting the stranger. Each step allowed her to hear him more clearly.  There is . . . a . . . hmm."  Huh? from the sounds of it he sure seems to be having difficulty with that sign. Is he new to the language? Or perhaps he has a condition? No matter the case, Kami felt confident in her approach getting a clearer picture of the individual till she had finally come up behind him. Staring at him she began to wonder whether or not her assistance was required for finishing the sign.

“Pardon?”
she remarked as benign as she possibly could. Reading over the sign herself she said read it out loud in case the stranger would understand a couple of the words he had skipped over. “There’s an unfamiliar person lurking around the outskirts of our village. Figure out what they are doing and report the information to the proper authorities.” Adding in a single word as she didn’t like how it was going so far. I am not of a questionable nature so they better not be talking about me. Her expression justly appalled at such a mission. Turning to the man she wondered if they could have been remarking on him as well. Standing oafishly beside this stranger Kami began to become self-conscious of herself.

"Ai!" Kobachi leap forward and turned into a combat ready stance, in shock from the girls sudden appearance. His face still showed slight signs of shock as opposed to his body that had moved into the pose from muscle memory. "Ah, just a girl." Lowering his stance he sighed in relief and gave a sincere smile to the stranger. As she read it out loud he was amazed at her grammar skills. Of course they were expected from any normal person, but in Kobachi's eyes they were still wonderful. Wonderful for him to clap enthusiastically and give a cheesy smile. "You read very . . . strongly. Can you teach me what that . . . hmm? What the words are trying to say?" He pointed to the sign that the girl had just read aloud and hoped she could shed some light for his sake.

Flinching slightly, mid read,  from the man’s sudden leap, Kami half reacted in the same manner to her strange new acquaintance. Jumpy this one. Can't blame him. Easing herself so she didn’t start anything with the man she tried to offer a reassuring smile, having completely forgotten she had a mask covering it slightly.  Noticing it she stopped smiling her awkward smile and just waved her hand slightly side to side in greetings. Listening closely as to understand exactly what Kobachi was trying to say? I read good. Pretty good considering I don’t know if he just started or not. Teaching though that was something she didn’t expect. I guess I really ought to have thought about that after offering my interpretation of it. Hummingbirds. Her mind wandered slightly near the end of the thought normally drawing upon the same word.

”Umm sure? I don’t think i am the greatest uhh english teacher,”
she stuttered a bit. ”So this sign says I guess in the most basic sense … “ Pausing sporadically through her explanation. So the pronunciation of the whole sentence is sorta as followed. The-airs an … un-fa-mil-ur?” Questioning her own lesson at this point.   “Unfamiliar meaning not normal or … yeah something unusual?” Hoping he will give a sign that he understands. Lurking is kinda like walking about … outskirts are the parts of the city which are sorta on the edge of the border? And the last part is just saying if they are doing bad things tell someone about it and if not then just mention it to someone that they might be needing help about. Does that explain some of it?” Not completely sure she explained that well, heck she sure confused herself from all of that especially since she started out giving help on pronunciation and then stopped. ” Oh yeah I am Kami Hanabira. And you?”

Kobachi nodded to the girls opening bit of her introduction. He understood the key words those being, 'don't think' and 'english teacher'. Greatest was lightly familiar to his vocabulary, him knowing the base of the word was great and the extra letters at the end were a variation of some sort, but he didn't know the words relevance or role in her sentence. Withdrawing his notepad before she spoke, he looked at the words he had wrote down before. "Un-fam-il-ur . . . like that?" He tried his best to copy the exact way the girl had said it. Voicing it a few more times in his head, all he needed now was the definition of the word. His eyes then lit up like diamonds as the meaning of the word flowed out of her lips as he watched with the utmost focus. She spoke so eloquently in his eyes and the movement of the two word producing parts were like a mesmerizing dance."Not normal? . . . Like I? I am not normal here, right? I am un-flam-il-ar." He heavily relied on talking with his hands to make sure he was being somewhat understood.

Then came the word lurking in which he think he grasped, but he wondered why it wasn't normal for people to walk around these parts. Maybe it was the reason he had just now ran into another person. "Hmmm. I grade you with a one hundred percent! I will tell the people how you do a good job." He gave her a thumbs up and then also rewarded her with his name as she gave him hers. "Ka-mi, Ha-na-bi-ra. Kami Hanabira, I am called Kobachi Monzaemon, but many call me just Kobachi." he then bowed deeply to the young female to show his gratitude. "Thank you for the lesson. I will try to be a teacher to you one day."

As Kobachi began to repeated various words she had spoken she smirked slightly with delight. His hand furiously writing down the phonetic and/or actual spelling of the words. She wouldn’t be able to tell though unless he turned the pad about. She didn’t care either way just was thinking of how she could help him. As he sounded out the word “unfamiliar” she squinted her eyes in delight with how well he managed to pronounce it. ”Yes very good. The happiness upon her face quickly waned though as he began to state how he was not normal around these parts as was she. Watching as he gesticulated the words almost Kami nodded. ”I suppose I am we both can be un-fa-mil-iar together,” She stated. Craning her neck from side to side and lifting her arms up above her head; the thin fingers began to weave together just like fiber when the quickly snapped letting out a large crack. A bad habit which Kami had made over the years.

Watching the stranger Kami was relatively surprised when he pronounced her name. Pretty good considering it was his first time wrapping his tongue around her name. Relayed his name in return she repeated it as well slightly finding herself tangled up on the last name. ”Kobachi Mona-a-zaem-o-n-i,” Feeling awful that she completely butchered his in return. As he bowed she almost blushed with embarrassment, no one bowed to her … ever. She felt oddly honored by his gratefulness and as a result she felt obligated to reply with a bow of her own. ”Perhaps one day our roles will be reversed.” Lifting the mask back up to cover her awkward grin.

He chuckled like a baby chimp as he noticed she had pulled up her mask to hide her grin, for some reason it had greatly amused him. "Kami Hanabira, you are a good person. What are you doing in this forest? Are you hunting for things?" He wasn't exactly sure what someone would be doing around here by themselves, though he was out here himself. "Oh, wait, you are moving to the village? If that is right, then we are familiar. I come from Kumogakure, but I will go to Konoha for a small bit to learn." He began his journey once again and beckoned to Kami to follow with an eager hand. He enjoyed company especially a strangers. So many tales to tell about things he had never seen or heard of before it was exciting just walking with one and it showed on his face. It shined like the shimmering sun a smile big enough for any and all to see. He even graciously smiled at Kami for no reason as he walked along the path with her.

Eyebrows raised at the strange chortling which her newly found student voiced cause her to smirk with a stupid grin almost visible through her mask. Such a silly boy. Shaking her head she tried to stop smiling. The question caught her by surprise, ”I suppose I have been hunting every now and then. Mostly for food of course.” Quickly popping another he caused Kami to blink from it. Me moved to Konoha? I guess I could be stuck in a worse city. ”I suppose I will slowly make my way to Konoha. I wasn’t planning on going directly there I was going to … uh check out the scenery maybe keep going a bit farther.” Shrugging she didn’t want to say definitively where she was planning on going. Walking with Kobachi she found herself possibly making what may have been her first friend. ” I don’t have a particular reason to settle down here but it seems like a nice village.”

Kobachi slowly nodded and his smile slowly fell back to its natural chinkyness. "Yes, the scenes are nice here. So much to see. Very much to see even maybe if you are from here too. Nothing is old, it's all pretty." He stretched a bit and yawned as the continued walking and he took a moment to absorb Kami's appearance. It was an interesting way to dress and he really enjoyed the deep colors she wore. "Your clothes have very pretty colors, I notice. Where are they made from, oh and what are the colors called? I know blue, green, and yellow, and red, some others too, but I don't think of the names right now." He once again withdrew his notepad and scribbled down some quick notes with a pencil that bore no eraser. Sort of a principle of life he lived by. Nothing can be undone. Only covered up, but it will always exist no matter how many times you scribble over it.

Looking up from his notepad he noticed the terrain was beginning to change. The dirt path they were walking on was slowly growing broader, signifying they were drawing near the village. He recalled she hadn't planned on going to Konoha yet and wanted to see more of the scenery, so he supposed this was where they would go separate ways. 'The village is coming soon. I hope you have fun scenery sighting and that we meet another time. Goodbye Kami Hanabira!" He would stop and bow once more before waving and finishing the rest of the way to Konoha by himself. Once there he would have an interesting conversation with the guards on Kami's grade and that the people 'lurking' were just the two of them.
