After his recent promotion, Ryo was more eager than ever to prove his ability and skill in battle. He finally felt ready to begin his training, hoping to gain the ability to use his clan’s abilities, but he would have a long regiment ahead of him in order to achieve his goals. Researching the subject quite heavily in the clan’s scrolls, he knew he had to first understand both water and wind style ninjutsu, and then he would have to combine them to awaken his untapped abilities. Together with his current skills, Ryo could prove to the rest of the village that he deserved the title of ANBU captain.
Walking by the academy on his way to train, Ryo had snatched a couple pieces of chakra paper in order to see which of his natures would be his affinity, and thus, the easier of the two to train. Picking up the paper in his hand, he forced some of his chakra through the paper, only to find the paper getting wet and damp, to the point where droplets were falling to the ground. Ryo concluded that he would then start with water ninjutsu training, and made his way through the village to a private portion of the Dry Grounds. This area was common with Suna shinobi trying to improve their skills, but Ryo seemed to find a portion of the land currently unoccupied.
Ryo started his attempts at producing water only using his chakra. It would be quite clear if he could, since the Dry Grounds had no water around them, hence the name. He focused his mind on the task, and continued to focus his chakra around his stomach, after which he would change it into water and propel the liquid through his mouth. But the ground was just as dry as it was before, lacking any sort of moisture.
Ryo became extremely frustrated and took off his robes, leaving him shirtless with a pair of black pants on. He sat on the arid earth and crossed his legs, just before forming a seal with his hands, focusing all of his being on the steady flow of his chakra. As he finally began to believe in himself, he could feel the ebb of the chakra within his body, the cold feeling taking over his mind. He finally felt comfortable, imagining water running over his body, reminding him of his love of swimming.
He always seemed to love being in water, which was odd being surrounded by sand, but Ryo enjoyed nothing more than a trip to the hot springs, or a good swim in the river. His mind soon drifted away from the seriousness of his training, and towards the feeling that water gave him. Thoughts of relaxation, calmness, and serenity began to slow time around him, making his breaths seem without labor and rhythmic. Sounds of waves crashing against the banks of the shore tuned out the neighboring genin, who were probably sparring, and upon closing his eyes, he almost forgot he was sitting in Sunagakure.
As his thoughts became more and more aquatic, the chakra he had been focusing began to change its nature. Soon he could no longer keep his mind in the fantasy he had created, as he had to focus to propel the converted water out of his throat. While sitting on the arid landscape, he tilted his head back, and water began to shoot into the air like a geyser. A few of the neighboring kids ran up to look at the water pouring into the air and laughed. Ryo soon got in control of his chakra, and with a bit more practice, he was able to change his chakra nature on demand. With a bit more training, he thought, he would be ready to use this style in battle against any and all of his enemies.
