Chikara leaned against the frame of Kirigakure’s gate, awaiting the arrival of the individual, a Genin like herself, to arrive. She didn’t really know who she was suppose to be looking for, having never met the Genin before, albeit she hadn’t met a lot of the Genin, she having never entered the academy due to some, er, circumstances. The Mizukage hadn’t been very helpful when she asked either, and despite the fact that she could really use a picture at the moment, she had been told that she would know it was him when she saw him. She took that as the Mizukage shooing her away, and she didn’t pester him further, just leaving the building to arrive here since the Mizukage was a very busy man and had no time for her shenanigans.

Anyways, she really shouldn’t focus to hard on finding her teammate for the day, since there were definitely more pressing matters. The duo had been assigned a rather hair rising task, a task that the Anbu couldn’t have done or someone of higher rank than a Genin for that matter. To be frank, the idea of clearing the outskirts of the village wasn’t a cup of tea Chikara desired to drink, but just leaving the corpses there to rot wasn’t a better option. Especially since the smile of rotting corpses would deter foreigners from coming to the village, which would probably hit the village hard, somehow someway, she was well versed in village politics.

After the duo were done with the cleaning up of the bodies, delivering Kiri Shinobi to the morgue, and the medical examiner took things over from there, thankfully. She sighed, taking her mind off what she must do to searching for the figure of her teammate once again with a smile on her face.

Her Chunin career was building momentum. Garnering more money than she could make back as a genin, Oko could put inside Otsu's mouth now. Although that really isn't necessary. At times, her baby has trouble with digestion. Premature birth complications. Although Otsu was far luckier than almost every zygote that grew out before mommy and daddy could even take care of themselves, her intestines and lungs were not as adept as "normal" ones. What a horror it is for the teenage mother, who smiles at the sight of her daughter every day, not knowing when her baby will close her eyes. Forever.

Sending waves of sweet honey and slight cherry from her lavishly black hair, Oko walked towards a certain premature girl. Donning a white and blue schoolgirl uniform, blue down-to-the-knee skirt, and black leggings, the sight of the petite Chikara Shurajo reminded her of a previous teammate from long ago, a peppy, all-smiley miniature child named... Il...Illy... Her last name was too foreign for Oko's tongue. Although she did remember her light blonde hair and childish face among all else. What happened to her was a conundrum, and the same goes for that long-haired girl named Kuma, and their agonizing teacher who Oko does not care to remember.

She stopped just two meters from the girl, looking at her with her big, bright orange brown-eyes. The girl in front of her, no doubt an Academy Student, had long, pretty orange hair that flowed down to her knees, and hypnotic orange eyes. Oko herself had no prior arrangement with this girl, and had never seen or heard of her before, and would normally never have even stopped to talk to her, had she not smelled a smelly smell. A certain aroma from the little girl that her sweet nose picked up. Drawn to it, she recognized this smell very much, although it was less of a physical smell and more of a conceptual smell. She had the same smell on her back when she was Genin.

"Mhm... hello Orenji-chan. Is it alright if I ask what perfume you're using today?"

“P-perfume?” Chikara said as her eyes gazed at the new arrival, an individual she did not know nor had seen before. She cocked her head to the side, eyebrows arching ever so slightly to express her confusion, if of course her question wasn’t enough. For a second her eyes were taken off the young lady who stood before her to examine her coat, bringing her arm up and sniffing the fabricate. She will admit she smelled something strange, though it really wasn’t noticeable to her, either because she had gotten use to it or had a very bad nose. She dropped her arms to her sides, eyes glancing back up at the teen.

“No perfume, Onee-sama,” Chikara finally answered, voice soft as her eyes gazed over the appearance of the one she decided to refer to as Onee-sama. “But, I did go pass a perfume shop on the way here,” she added, suddenly realizing where the smell must have come from. Yes, she had to have gone by a place selling perfume on her way to the gates and since she had been so focus on getting to the meeting spot, she hadn’t actually noticed the aroma as she entered the vicinity nor how it linger even after she was no where near the shop.

She flashed a smile at the unnamed female, quite pleased with the fact that she had deduced such a thing, it never occurring to her that she could be wrong. She really didn’t dwell on the matter for long, her mind snapping back to the fact that there was a mission she was suppose to be doing, yet the one that had been assigned to help her was not in sight. Unless, of course, the one standing before her was the individual that she would be doing the mission with. If so, Chikara had to admit her teammate was much prettier than she expected, though what she had been expecting was unclear to herself.

“Onee-sama, are you the one I am suppose to clean the forest with?” the pint-sized Genin asked. She would be quite happy if the pretty teen was and a bit disappointed if she had assumed the wrong thing. Chikara guess it was one of the various down falls of having never gone to the academy and meeting those apart of her peer group. But that didn’t matter. What did was rather or not Onee-sama was the individual she had been waiting for.

Their eyes made contact, retinas reflecting light off of each other faces, showing a crystal clear connection between the two of them. Oko watched the petite girl's movements as one might watch a monkey, although through some strange intuition, Oko likened the little girl to that of her daughter, even though they did not have any physical resemblance... well, maybe except for their baby-like cuteness. Perhaps it is she, unconsciously, wished for Otsu to look as spectacular as the pleasant-smelling girl before her. A mother's hopeful wishful thinking.

After hearing the girl explain why she's been coated with something that would allure not even men, but also women of all ages, Oko took a few, quiet, unnoticeable whiffs before closing her attention off how she smelt. Accompanied by a smile, the girl had fired a question at her; hope rested in her eyes as if she were anticipating her all along. Enticed by her energy, Oko decided to tag alongside her for awhile. Just in case she needs to kick the shit out of any child molesters.

Oko waved her hand with a smile. "No, no, I'm sorry. I was just passing by". She assumed that since her partner isn't present, then the girl must be doing volunteer work. What a helpful child! "But the forests aren't really a safe place for anyone to walk in. I'd like to come along if your friend isn't here. Oh! I'm Haruhi. But you can call me Oko".

She was disappointed for having wrongly assumed that the newly dubbed Oko had been the individual sent to assist her in ridding the outskirts of the deceased. Yet that disappointment quickly faded for despite Oko not being her teammate, the older girl decided to tag along anyways. One could tell that the youngling was excited, she jumping up and down in unconfined excitement. She suddenly stopped, having realized that she hadn’t given up her name quite yet. She sheepishly scratched the back of her head, smiling, “I am Chikara Shurajo, but you can call me Chikara or Chi or really whatever you want.” She giggled softly, hand dropping back to her side.

It was now time to begin the mission, for leaving rotting corpses in the forest any longer than they had been there already wasn’t a good idea. “This way,” Chikara would say, pointing outside the gates before making her way through them, humming a merry tune to herself. “The mission was assigned is the disposal of some, er, deceased Shinobi in the forest. Which is easier said than done since we have to separate our comrades from the ones the Kage could care less about burying. After disposing of those who were not our comrades, we have to drag the remaining bodies to the morgue.” She said some time later, feeling that mission details should be given before they entered the scene.

She glanced over at Oko, wondering if the sound of cleaning up dead bodies would cause the girl to turn back. She hoped it didn’t since the idea of doing the task alone didn’t sound like much fun, but she wouldn't find fault in the older individual if she did. Heck, Chikara didn't even want to do this particular task, but she would since the Mizukage had assigned it and she was getting paid for her services. "You don't have to come any further if the mission doesn't sound like you cup of tea."

Chikara bounced in explicit delight, which warmed up Oko's heart under her bosom. It was a good deed to volunteer to do this for her. "Wow, I haven't seen anyone who's as excited as you to have someone with them to clean up the trees, Chikara". Given a choice between nicknames, the first thing that popped up in Oko's head was not either of them. It was Chika - the intermediary between the first syllable and her full name. It was a name that would be born if there was a bridge to connect them. It meant  "thousand summer" or perhaps even "thousand flowers". Oko followed Chikara closely, allowing her to lead the way, but always keeping your attention focused beyond Chikara's own sight. In case any molester, thief, or wild animal comes along, Oko would be the first to react and the first to act.

Observing Chikara's movements from her rear, Oko deduced that they were more toned than your average pre-mature girl. And upon hearing her explanation of their task, Oko realized for the first time that Chikara was a kunoichi like her! A young girl walking the ninja path. Oh my.... she thought.

The mission sounded strangely similar to the one she did as a Genin. In the rocky battlefields of the outskirts of the village, they were dead bodies lying around, although it did take some time to find them. Oko had to carry them from underground, as if she was a lifeguard swimming back to land with someone in her other arm; although the person was long dead. And of course, the funeral affairs that she had to tend to...

"Dead bodies? I'm used to them".

“Really?!” Chikara exclaimed, head turning to look upon the older female, eyes twinkling with an emotion she couldn’t quite identify. Perhaps it was astonishment that the pretty individual known as Oko had seen her fair share of bodies, the youngling having assumed that because the nations were in times of peace that the chances of seeing the deceased or having to kill somebody was rare. She guessed she shouldn’t had assumed that since just because Kiri was in peace time that the countries Shinobi were taking advantage of it. It made her smile to know that Oko wouldn’t be turned off by a couple of nameless corpses.

She turned her head forward, her grin bigger than it had been when they started and would remain upon her face even after arriving at the place where the Anbu had so nicely left the dead. Her eyes swept over the area, counting how many bodies were present before sighing. “It’s saddening that those who had killed the deceased didn’t bother to bring back their comrades and burn the bodies of those who do not belong to Kiri,” Chikara said, shaking her head slightly as she approached the nearest body to check for a forehead protector, the easiest thing to identify the home of a Shinobi.

“How long have you been a Shinobi, Onee-sama?”

The orange-haired one gleaming with surprised delight, the twinkle in her eyes illuminated the kawaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiness in her face. It forced Oko to blush and show a gentle smile to the little superstar. Feeling plushy at how adorable the girl was - Oko could hardly see her as a kunoichi, she merely nodded, strengthening her own resolve in case the bodies were mutilated beyond human tolerance. Well, they were all men so WHO CARES?!

As they walked towards their destination, Oko could not hope but hope that this girl would live through her missions and catch up to where she is now, a Chunin. It is important for more kunoichi to get into the higher ranks, especially if they deserve it. The ratio between shinobi and kunoichi above the rank of Genin is absurdly large, and enlargens as one climbs up the ladder. May success be onto you. she blessed.

They arrived, and Oko could see the bodies laid out all over. Yep, she had a similar task some time ago. And it looks like she didn't need to search for them or anything - they're all out in the open.

"I've been doing this kind of work for three... almost four years now. This is the reality of battle, Chikara-chan. In combat, those who fall are left to perish... and those who survive have another chance to go back home and say hi to their family one more time."

Oko walked over to one of the bodies, searching for clues hinting to which side the corpse was fighting on.

Chikara eyes glanced over at Oko as said individual gave some words of wisdom that would had definitely worked on an individual who wasn’t accustomed to death. She understood the notion that those who died were meant to perish so that those who held a stronger will to live could survive, it had been something she had learned quite a while back when she was serving her purpose as a ‘super’ soldier before the experiment came crashing down. But even though she had learned such a lesson long ago, she still took Oko’s words to heart, nodding her head in understanding. She may have witnessed atrocities at a young age, but that didn’t mean she had witness and learned all the world had to offer.

She worked silently for a moment, taking special care that those who belonged to Kiri were separated from the likes of their killers. Chikara held no emotional attachment to these individuals, but that didn’t mean she would risk mixing somebody who fought for Kiri with those who had attacked, and vice versa. She dragged the bodies of the enemy into one pile so that they may be burnt before they left, whilst neatly laying the bodies of Kiri shinobi in a nice line.

“I think that’s it,” Chikara would say, making a show of dusting her hands before looking at Oko. “Er, though how we carry several heavy bodies back to the village is beyond me. The Mizukage had failed to provide a method,” she said, scratching the back of her head with a sheepish smile. “We should move the bodies out the forest before we set those people,” she waved her hand at the pile of corpses, “ablaze.”

"What do you think, Onee-sama?"

Oko cross-examined the rotting, cold, post-post-rigot mortis men that were eternally sleeping before her, to be decomposed and return to the earth. She could tell which is which by uniform, turning bodies over to see headbands, and take a close look at colors. Of course, she can't do anything about the people who swapped costumes to be on the enemy side when they're really a spy. Didn't matter though, since they were all dead. Just a bunch of bodies, losing the battle for life. Their shinobi careers ended. No more joy or laughter. Emotions and thoughts, for the first time and last time ever, were erased. Time with family and friends no longer existed - that is something that exists as false hope in the memories of those they left behind. Their future was no more - the people they would have met will no longer know them. Enjoyment of favorite food, activities, books, etc - all vanished. Death is painful, not only in its wake, but in the meaning of its aftermath. One can only live life once. Live it to the fullest.

She dumped the bodies on top of the pile alongside Chikara, the two of them dirtying their hands with the pale flesh of the dead shinobi. They were all on top of each other, motionless. Some of them had even horrified expressions on their faces. These bodies were much worse than the ones she picked up as Genin. Her expression was starting to change. Disgust? Pity? Sadness? Horror? This deep sympathy bothered the divorced, teenage mother.

As she was a master at earth jutsu, she must give them some form of a burial before they are left to the wind. It's unknown to them if they had families or not. "Yeah, we'll do it quickly, Chikara" Oko said. As the bodies were shifted to the Forest, Oko performed her "Rock Elevator Jutsu", forming a 5 meter by 5 meter square outline around the bodies before she lowered it 5 meters, creating an open square hole in the ground where they could see the bodies down inside. As she had nothing but exploding tags, she looked at Chikara to see if she has anything proper to incinerate them. They would then quickly bury the bodies with earth and dirt as they were turned to black, lifeless ashes.....

Chikara tilted her head to the side, fascinated by Oko’s technique, though she quickly snapped out of it. This was not the time to dwell on things, especially when business needed to be taken care of. She removed a lighter from her pocket, something the Mizukage had given her knowing full well that she wasn’t a fire user. With a simple press of a button, it was lit and without thinking about it, she threw it onto the pile of corpses. The corpses were quickly engulfed in flames, the forest being filled with the stench of burning flesh though it bothered Chikara little. She watched for a minute, before walking away, grabbing two of the four recovered bodies and heading to the morgue.

Unsurprising enough, upon dropping the bodies off, she had to complete various things such as inform the family and prepare the burial grounds for the shinobi. Tasks she really didn’t want to do, but did anyways. Though as soon as they were done, she went home, not wanting to stick around to actually see them buried since she had no business being there. But before than, she would thank Oko for her help as well as stating that she hoped to see the girl again.
