Mission:

The distinct sound of Takeshi's fist impacting the child's left cheek seemed to cut through the still evening air. In the otherwise peaceful backdrop of this calm summer's eve, the sound of pained and labored grunts and whimpers could be heard as Takeshi stood firm and strong in front of three children who were roughly his own age. Behind him was his comrade and oldest childhood friend, Chikami and a slightly younger dark haired boy whom remained huddled and clinging to the small female. Takeshi knew not whether Chikami truly wanted to get involved in the brawl that was taking place, but was distinctly aware of how the child seemed to protest at almost any movement the girl made that even gave the slightest hint that she was about to leave. Breathing heavily, the battered and bruised blonde stared at the three bullies he and Chikami had been hired to deal with. The mission parameters had dictated that he and his partner make sure to teach the pack of bullies a lesson, but at the same time the two Genin had been reminded to exercise restraint. There was to be no serious injuries, obviously due to the fact that these bullies were also fellow Konoha citizens as well as final year academy students, just on the cusp of ninja-hood.

This made the fight particularly difficult for the blonde youth. While Takeshi was no expert in the art of hand-to-hand combat, he did have his jutsu and weapons. Though the young Kurosawa child had indeed been the absolute worst student of his class, he couldn't help but feel that his experience as a Genin had managed to put him heads and shoulders above most academy students. If nothing else, it had tempered that already amazing endurance of his, allowing him to take beating after beating and continue standing. Exhaling a slow, shaky breath, the child moved his right hand up toward his mouth, using the back of his fist to wipe away a small ribbon of blood that trailed down the corner of his mouth. While Takeshi did look rather ragged by this point, the three bullies were looking no better. The children were just as beaten and bruised as Takeshi, which was a testament to the blonde child's tenacity as the three had tried to beat on the blonde all at once. It was an unfair three-on-one situation.

"You jerks...had enough?"

Takeshi's voice managed to cut through his own panting, coming out in a semi-strained tone. At this the lithe dark haired child in the middle merely scoffed before suddenly advancing toward Takeshi, rushing toward the blonde youth as his right arm cocked back in preparation for a hard punch. Not missing the chance to help their supposed leader, the two other boys stepped inward, one aiming to throw a low punch for Takeshi's torso as the other moved to kick one of Takeshi's legs out from under him by performing a low sweeping kick toward Takeshi's left ankle. Swaying toward his left, Takeshi managed to avoid the middle child's punch only to feel the impact of the second attacker's fist against his right flank. Now off balance, Takeshi only just noticed the swinging leg of the third as it managed to connect hard with Takeshi's ankle, taking his left leg out from under him just as planned. Off balance, injured, and with only one leg to stand on, Takeshi found himself falling to the ground in front of the three who proceeded to kick at the downed blonde child, eliciting sudden yelps of pain as the boy tried to shield himself from the assaulting children for a second or two before suddenly managing to latch onto the leader's leg. With a sudden hard pull the leader was down on the ground and Takeshi was on top of him, straddling the boy's torso as his fists began to fly one after the other into the tall child's face. First the left, immediately followed by the right while the left recoiled for another strike. Hit after hit rained down on the dark haired boy as he let out yells of protests and pain.

So stunned were the other two that they could only watch for several seconds before attempting to step in, in an attempt to restrain the rage filled Takeshi who's voice now competed with his victim for dominance as he let out powerful yells with each impact of his fists. Just before the child on Takeshi's left could make it to the boy however he'd feel a powerful arm wrap itself around his neck, locking him into a firm headlock that halted his forward movements. Nothing more than a sudden choking noise would be heard as a large figure held the child firmly in place. At the moment Takeshi was far too absorbed in his own anger and revenge to pay attention to his surroundings but if he had taken the time to look he would have realized that the figure whom had come to his aid was none other than Buta, the long time bully of both Chikami and Takeshi. "Don't you even dare think about it. Kurosawa is mine." The fat Genin would growl into the ear of his victim before suddenly releasing him. By this point the other boy remained motionless, failing in his original goal of restraining Takeshi and subsequently leaving himself open to any sort of follow up attack. If none came though the two would eventually take off running, leaving the three Genin to beat on their leader who was still trapped beneath Takeshi's body.

If not stopped, Takeshi would continue to pound the child's face until the boy passed out. At which point he'd simply stand and storm off, leaving Chikami with the child the two had been ordered to protect. If however, he was stopped by his friend, he'd merely stand up and spit on the child he had just beaten before storming off in a similar fashion, obviously in too much of a foul mood to even remember he had been on a mission, leaving Chikami with the task of turning in the mission and collecting his pay.

"You two are pathetic. Can't even handle a bunch of little bullies without getting all beat up and pissed off. You guys suck at being ninja." With that Buta would turn his beady eyes toward the child. "Come on, let's go report in so I can get paid and get away from you losers."

'Freak... you're a freak! Such a weirdo. Who reads books for fun anyway?!'

'Heh, she's talking to those dolls again! Let's take 'em!'

'She doesn't belong here. Heck, she don't belong nowhere!'

This mission which she and her childhood friend had been sent on this time was bringing back a lot of memories that she would rather keep under wraps. She was stood a little behind Takeshi, watching with her indigo eyes wide as he continued to deal out the hurt and 'lesson' to the bullies who had already done so much irreversible damage to the boy currently clinging to her leg. He was a mess, honestly and truly; he was near enough broken. He seemed to have bonded with her during the day they had spent together, trying to draw out the bullies to him after the Academy lessons. His name was Shin, and he was part of a small clan that specialized in providing intelligence for the village. It was fitting, therefore, that almost every member within their ranks had a very sharp mind and high mental capacity. Many geniuses had been registered from this clan in particular, and had aided Konohagakure for a long time; almost as long as the founding of the Senju clan. While they had no Kekkei Genkai, they had a long line of forbidden jutsu that were immensely powerful and capable of destroying countless foes. It was a shame that the other clans of the village weren't too keen on this small family in particular. Shin was a very fragile, vulnerable child; he stood no taller than 4ft, with a couple of inches here or there, and he spoke very quietly with a bad stammer that he showed no sign of conquering if the bullying continued.

In many ways, the boy reminded Chikami so much of herself when she was his age, and even now. But she had to pretend to be strong, at least, to intimidate the bullies and protect the weak. She kept her arms around the boy while she looked on at Takeshi, wondering how he had managed to keep standing for all this time. There were three bullies, and they were clan kids; meaning they were better than average for their age. She had identified a Hyuuga clan member, and what she guessed to be a Yamanaka, teamed also with an Uchiha, perhaps. She was unsure about the ringleader, but he had the looks of a possible Uchiha, so that was what she decided upon. "Takeshi-kun..." She murmured lowly as her friend spoke, taunting the bullies. It didn't go too well for him, as all three decided to strike back at him in turn, pinning him. She gasped loudly and looked down at Shin briefly, biting her lip as she saw his frightened face due to the fact that she had tried to edge forward. He truly was terrified.

Because she couldn't move properly due to her static position thanks to the boy clinging to her lithe frame, she was paralysed and helpless while her friend was being attacked by the three boys. 'I... I have to do something...' She thought desperately, looking around in every direction as if an answer would present itself from thin air and save the both of them. Alas, nothing of the sort happened. When she next directed her attention back to Takeshi, however, she was surprised to see a very familiar bulky figure aiding the blonde. "B-Buta?" She stuttered in sheer shock, looking at the hulking boy who managed to scare the leader enough that his two followers ran away with girlish whimpers. She suddenly felt an overwhelming guilt take over her as she realised that through the whole ordeal, she had done nothing to help. If anything, she had probably hindered the mission. All she had done was provide protection for Shin, but even then, if the bullies had managed to get to her she wasn't sure what she could have done aside from using her own body as a shield for him. She started to recover some recollection of the fact that she was here for a purpose, and she saw Takeshi beating up the pinned bully leader who had no way to defend himself.

"Takeshi-kun! Stop!" She cried, ashamed to hear her own voice breaking upon demanding something. At her shouted request, Takeshi got up and briefly looked at her before storming away, leaving her with the child they had been charged to protect. The supposed Uchiha boy was left to pick himself up while moaning and whimpering, holding a hand to his cheek before looking at the purple-haired girl with fear present in his eyes. All she could do was look at him, hoping he would leave and let her get this mission wrapped up without any more issues. He gulped audibly and turned around before starting to run in the opposite direction, leaving Chikami alone with Shin. But of course, she wasn't alone. She had almost forgotten about the presence of Buta; the one who had come to their aid despite it not being a mission of his to help with. His words, when he spoke, resonated within Chikami and she slowly looked at the brown-haired boy with a heavy sigh escaping her lips. She didn't even utter a sound beyond a gentle reassuring one directed at the boy clinging to her, but it was obvious how she felt about this mission deep down on the inside. Once more, she had proved herself to be utterly incompetent while Takeshi had actually completed the task, and even Buta had helped out.

'Pathetic... you two are pathetic... you guys suck at being ninja...' His words started to echo in her mind; more to add to the collection she was building inside her. She'd silently release Shin and instead grasp his hand, leading him after her and starting to head off towards Administration, wanting to get her pay for this mission as soon as possible. The quicker it ended, the quicker she could push it out of her memory; a horrible reminder of what she was.
