Mission in Progress:

Book One | The First Grain

Seeing the sun rise was such a beautiful experience that many people of the Hidden Mist village didn't get to witness, of course the workers on the docks had the pleasure of watching the sun rise everyday right before the iconic mist that was this village's trademark began to form then settle in to reduce all visibility of it. "Simply.. Beautiful..", were the only words that could form from Ōsharu's lips as he sat on a hillside overlooking the docks. Typically he wasn't ever up this early, but when a mission for his village needed to be done Ōsharu was always the one to put aside his personal preferences and persevere. "Well, it's time to get to work.." Ōsharu thought as his body, starting from his feet, began to dissolve into salt that blew away with the after he made the Ram seal, completely vanishing from the area.

Within seconds the blue haired leader to be of the Kōkkai clan appeared at the furthest end of the dock, with his hands in his pocket, Ōsharu made his way toward a group of workers unloading boxes from the back of a horse-drawn carriage. The man turned in Ōsharu's direction and a smile accompanied by a wave was given. "Ahh, you must be the Genin I put in a request for" He said while wiping his hands on his pants before extending his right out to Ōsharu. "You may call me Mr. Fugimora, and you are? Removing his right hand, Ōsharu grasped Mr. Fugimora's hand and gave a slight shake with a smile that forcibly tugged at the corners of his mouth. Although he didn't outwardly portray it, especially to his client, Ōsharu was actually quite annoyed. Partially by the fact that he had not eaten his first meal, which is the most important by the way, and now his stomach was beginning to growl occasionally. More importantly though, Ōsharu just simply hated helping people with problems that they had caused themselves, an ideology that he'd developed due to his clan no doubt. Yet, this was a mission and personal opinions and preferences were beyond him in pursuit of his overall goal. "Good morning and nice to meet you. I am Ōsharu Kōkkai."

"Very good, very good. Well, the job is simple today. Just help me unload all thirty-three of these boxes and then when the other carriage comes we'll load them right onto there. Got it?" Mr Fugimora instructed, Ōsharu simply nodded and began to get to work. Because of the work that Ōsharu was putting his mouth began to feel the familiar dry spell that accompanied every member of the Kōkkai, thus he'd occasionally withdraw and drink from a small water bottle before returning back to work. Although the boxes weren't exceptionally heavy, they did start to take a toll on Ōsharu, but salvation came when the last box was unloaded. Between the two of them, the job was able to be completed in a shorter period of time than what Mr. Fugimora had even expected, "It seems we've made excellent time, care for some lunch?". Mr. Fugimora said as he pulled from off the carriage a lunchbox and offered at an arms grabs distance a plate of Sashimi. Now, Ōsharu wouldn't be a true Kōkkai if he turned down any type of food, thus the employer and his client enjoyed a lunch with a few words exchanged before the other carriage had arrived.

Repeating the process but in the reverse order from which they performed earlier, Ōsharu and Mr. Fugimora got to work. Ōsharu made sure to always lift with his legs rather than his back, he didn't need to be a twenty(20) year old crippled shinobi, he still had plenty of youth to exploit! In the process, a rather large navy vessel could be seen not too far out from the mover's position,it was probably just the navy going over some routine exercises and as sign of respect they honked the horn of the ship to which Ōsharu and Mr. Fugimora waved out into the distance. They began finishing up the last of the boxes shortly after. It would have been a straight process, but the water that he had drank early took it's revenge and Ōsharu was forced to go drain the main vein.

    Piss...

        Loading..

          Don't forget to shake!

Upon receiving the best feeling of relief, Ōsharu returned back to work. As soon as the last box had been loaded onto the back of the horse-drawn carriage a messenger hawk came swooping down and perched itself onto Ōsharu's shoulder, this surprising him in the process. He removed the scroll from the back of the hawk and began to read the message within.

Spoiler:

"Ugh! I didn't expect that the Mizukage would put in my request so speedily.. At least it's close by." Ōsharu looked out at the Navy vessel before letting out a sigh as he rolled up the scroll and placed it back into the hawk's holster, after playing with Ōsharu's ear piercings the hawk took flight once more. "Everything alright, Ōsharu?" Mr. Fugimora said as he came around from paying the driver of the carriage before it left. Ōsharu picked up his head and flashed a quick, but secretly fake, smile. "Oh, yes. Everything is fine, I just received another mission that's all." His voice calm and unwavering as he reassured his employer. "Ahh, the life of an honest man is never ending. I understand, here's a token of appreciation for the completion of this mission" Mr. Fugimora said as he threw a closed sack of coins at Ōsharu which he caught with his left hand. Ōsharu bowed slightly before giving a now genuine smile. "Thank you, it has been a pleasure working for you." With chakra already being sent and applied to the soles of his feet, Ōsharu took a step off of the dock and onto the water's surface below before breaking into a run toward the Navy vessel.

Strolling up to the docks breathing in the mist that blessed the lands of Kirigakure. Some said it was a curse, but Shinji enjoyed it. The mist seemed to keep one company in the lonely town. Not many people interacted in the village and when they did it was usually violence or negative acts. Where was the comradery? Shinji spent most of his time alone in the village as everyone else did, but he felt it was time to change that. And what better way to make change than to take initiative?

There was the target running along the surface of the water, headed towards a boat. Shinji peered around and saw a man watching the boy sprint off. Hey what's he doing? He inquired to the male. Ninja things my dear boy. The man shrugged and went about his business. Shinji then had the golden idea to pester his soon to be new acquaintance.

Applying chakra to his soles, he hopped onto the water and began chase. Forming the tiger handseal, he was going to have a bit of fun and really put the ninja's skills to the test.
Technique used:

Exhaling lightly, the much denser mist crept lazily from his open jaw. Though it moved slow when expelled once released, it quickly consumed space and destroyed ones visual capabilities making them rely on their other 4 senses. But could you taste Shinji? No. Feel him? Not yet. Smell Shinji? Not with this salty sea breeze. Ahhh but one could hopefully decipher his pitter pattering foot steps from the subtle waves that rocked the water. Hope you like games yo. The blondes smile was more than concealed in the thick mist, which would be the catalyst for this fun game.

Ōsharu kept up his pursuit of the navy vessel, but the sound of water splashing up because of footsteps that weren't on step with his own made him dip his head over his left shoulder. "Hmm.. That's definitely not Kirigakure's natural mist.. This is definitely a form of jutsu, but where is the caster.." Ōsharu came to a skidding halt upon the water's surface and began analyzing the moving mist. With his analytical skills, it wouldn't be long before Ōsharu found his opponent or at least the weak points to the jutsu. "It's getting closer.." His eyes shifting over the area of the mist and noting its qualities that differed from the Mist in which he grew up in. " It's definitely more dense.. Time to take things to the air.." Ōsharu thought as he began to feel for his chakra, the waters near him coming to a slight halt. His eyes fell shut for a brief moment, his hands clasped together and his fingers intertwined as he formed the Serpent Seal.

"Suiton: Bakusui Shōha | Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave" As the words left his lips, Ōsharu's chakra began to spread from the soles of his feet into the water below. A wave of water rose from beneath Ōsharu's feet and lifted him well above the line of the mist, at the peak of the technique's height Ōsharu began scanning the moving mist from an aerial point of view. "The user is nowhere in site.. Let's try the mist.." With a thrust of his right hand both Ōsharu and the wave that he rode upon jolted forward toward the mist, it's length and height exceeding that of the mist.

The force and speed at which the wave, along with Ōsharu, traveled across the water made his hair whip behind him frantically. Appearing to take a liking in this form of travel by the smug smile he wore on his face, Ōsharu folded his arms across his chest. "If there is a presence within the mist.. Make yourself known.. Now!" Ōsharu said with a bit of ferocity in the direction of the mist, it would be enough time for anyone's presence to be known before the mist collided with the wave.

Hmmm where is he going? Shinji thought to himself as the new playmate rose above his mist. Shinji knew the boy's eyes couldn't see through the mist, but that torrent of water felt dangerous. He scanned throughout his brain trying to place a finger on what technique it was, for he had ignored it when the boy shouted it. But then figured his time would be better spent on constantly sensing his surroundings for clones and the main targets location. The sense wouldn't be perfect, but a general location would be able to be pin pointed and a clone would easily be noticed, for that would create a new chakra signature.Wuttol! That's going to bug me all day, whatever yo. Shrugging off the thought of what jutsu the boy called out, he was going through a quick set of handseals himself. Hand of Asura yo! Having a general idea of the blue haired shinobi's location from the noise of the loud wave his almost undecipherable warning, and Shinji's previous area scan, Shinji lunged a clinched right hand towards the oncoming wave. This commanded a giant watery fist, hard as steel which was enveloping Shinji like steel armor, to pierce the mist and attempt to disrupt the enemy's jutsu. But with time being limited for the wave was soon approaching, the fist would barely, if it did, peek out from the mist before delivering its attack, meaning the waves rider would have little to no time to react.

So with a steel fist, Shinji attempting to hit the waves rider head on, if a dodge wasn't executed which would require masterful reflexes, the blue haired boy would find himself in a great deal of pain with guaranteed a couple broken bones. From the fist itself and from the added opposing speed from his wave. If he did dodge he would basically be forced to leave his new form of transportation and would have to allow it to simply carry on with its life, without his guidance. Yes the wave would crash down, but without its rider, its impact upon the disturbed seafront would be weakened. And also Shinji would have stopped focusing chakra into his feet to simply sink into the depths below, regardless of if his ploy worked. Down there, he would only feel a light tug from the wave drawing in water, a clap from the wave, maybe a couple of bubbles, and that would be far from harmful. But Shinji would of course let his eyes remain open, so he could one be aware of the battle field and to guide his hardened battle fist, which had hopefully delivered the blow to his target.

After things would have settled down Shinji would then of course, sense his
diameter. Checking for new intruders and other possible obstructions.
The fist stopped at 15m and held its position, waiting for Oshura to enter the dense mist he couldn't see in. Here he might unexpectedly run into a gigantic fist hard as steel. The fist was already in line wit the blue haired boy's body, but now it is up to him to react fast enough in the devilish mist and avoid the extended knuckles.
Anything for you Seto:

A response was all that Ōsharu had asked for, yet no response was given in return, thus the notion that a living being was present in the mist left his mind. With an outstretched right arm, Ōsharu directed the wave for a full on direct strike to the heart of the mist. Acting on instinct to accept all possible outcomes as plausible, Ōsharu used the chakra in his soles as support to kick of the wave and performing a flip before entering deep within the water below, his disappearance from the wave and the sound of him entering the water would be masked by the wave itself. In a manner of seconds Ōsharu had swam to the water's surface and rose to about eye level above it so as to ensure that his technique followed the intended course. "One can never be to sure.." Ōsharu thought as dipped back under the water and swam toward the mist.

Due to the natural adaptions that the bodies of Kōkkai member's had, Ōsharu was allowed to breath naturally underwater as he did on land. After a minute or two of swimming toward and presumably under the mist, all the while observing the surface of the water for any movements, Ōsharu stopped himself below the center of the mist and placed his hands together in the tiger seal. Chakra released from the tenketsu outlining his body was released into the water and began to form a replica of Ōsharu, effectively creating a clone that began toward where the caster of the mist was. Using the water's depth as cover, Ōsharu sat in anticipation of what would happen next.

"What is your purpose with me?" The clone of Ōsharu spoke as he floated in the water a few feet under the caster of the mist jutsu. Because it was a clone in it's natural element, not much could truly be done to it to dispel it, thus the perfect offense and defense.

Swimming to the waters surface, he didn't feel any connection with his foe with his previous jutsu. Slipped of huh? This'll be fun. He thought to himself, finding his footing back on top of the murky waters. Shinji then closed his eye, searching for the shinobi's chakra signature. He nodded and a grin found itself painted along his expression. A clone huh? Being an Adept Sensor Shinji, could sense the copy of the boy's presence. Of course, he was great enough to decipher which one was real and which one was fake, but he had a general idea. Both were residing in the depths of the water, so it would be an interesting turn of events, definitely when Shinji decided to join them underwater.

As the clone spoke it's words, Shinji grinned. His first plan was to race the boy to the ship that had resided, not to far from the battlefield, but as things transpired, there they were. Explaining himself in muffled words, he hoped he was heard. Hmm, Well I wanted to race you to that ship, but then all this fighting had started. I'm not super fond of battle, but if you want to continue we can. Shinji wasn't the most battle eager person ever, though he was a Kirigakure shinobi. With those two titles, one should be eat, sleep, and dreaming blood massacres. Shinji had no idea why he was so different than the rest of the mist's ninja, but he didn't mind it. To show his sincerity he even dropped the veil of his mist, by forming the tiger seal, making the overhead mist fade. He had pointed up, in attempt to direct the boys eyes, then swam to the surface With his face now being visible, he freely painted a smile onto it while extending a limb to assist whoever emerged from the water, clone of human, as a gesture of friendship and peace.

Following the Mist's creators actions, the clone of Ōsharu traveled to and stood atop the surface of the water by grabbing hold of the stranger's hand and being hoisted up. He listened carefully to the man's words before opening it's mouth to speak. "Well, my creator is most likely going to want to hear this from you so.." The clone of Ōsharu bent down to the surface of the water and gave a thumbs up, then with a cocked head and a smile it waved good bye and dispelled in a splash of water. Observing everything from the depths of the water below, Ōsharu received the sign from his clone and began to swim to the surface. "I swear.. If this kid tries anything.." A grimace lay on Ōsharu's face as the surface grew closer and closer to him.

Ōsharu's pale white hand erupted out of the water, similar to what one sees when a zombie comes from the ground, and used the chakra streaming from his hand to support himself as he pulled the rest of his body out of the water. Every inch of his body was waterlogged and dripped with water, but the expression he wore showed no signs of noticing it. "..I'm sorry to ask you again.. But, what's your purpose with me?" His voice coming across as calm and collected as he analyzed the boy before him.

Shinji was glad his handshake was accepted and wasn't that surprised when the figure returned to liquid. As he peered down he slightly saw Ōsharu's frame come into sight, until he broke the water's surface. Shinji grinned as his ghastly toned skin was standing in front of him. As Ōsharu spoke, Shinji took note of his calm manner, but could tell Ōsharu was probably a little annoyed by his antics.

I don't really have a purpose with you, just got bored and decided to play with one of my fellow Genin. Shinji made a cheesy grin and his eyes shifted away in minor embarrassment. Probably should have left you alone though seeing how you seem to be doing something important . . . sorry yo. Shinji knew he should not have intervened while Ōsharu seemed to be on a mission, so he cast aside his remark about the race. With a quick bow, Shinji headed to the docks. By the way my name is Shinji Ujimasa, so if you get in trouble you can blame it on me I guess! He yelled over his shoulder, to Ōsharu.

Ōsharu knew that he was giving off an intimidating and probably 'douche bag' attitude, but he simply hated for his plans to be interrupted. Though, because Shinji apologized, Ōsharu  would not hold a grudge and in return gave an honorable bow. "Hmm.. It appears I've met another Genin.. I wonder what the future holds for us as a whole.." Ōsharu thought as he watched his newest acquaintance head back to the shore. His palm met his face as he realized he had not given his name in return. "Oi! My name is Ōsharu Kōkkai, twenty-first leader of the Kōkkai clan and future Mizukage! Don't you ever forget it!" A hint of pride could be heard in his words as he called out to Shinji. Typically, Ōsharu saved his clan greeting for more political matters, but now a days he was becoming more accustomed to using it. The sound of the navy vessel's horn in the background reminded Ōsharu of the mission he was on before he had met Shinji and without a second thought he began full sprint toward it.

It didn't take long for Ōsharu to reach the ship and by using the same principals as walking on water, he began to scale the huge vessel. Upon reaching the top a hand extended downward toward Ōsharu which pulled him aboard the ship. Unfortunately, the hand belong to his client, Captain Saruno of the 33rd Fleet. "Boy.. You're late.." The Captain said in a deep father-like voice. Ōsharu scrambled to come up with an excuse, but the Captain raised his hand and shook his head lightly. "No need for lies boy. I witnessed the entire event, of course with the exception of what went on inside that mist." He paused for a second. "That was excellent battling skills boy! You serve the mist proud. I mean the size of that wave!?! What was it, 200 feet?!? Plus you're only a genin!!!" As he spoke the Captain lifted Ōsharu off of his feet. An awkward and confused look overcame Ōsharu, but he put on a false smile to please the man.

After minutes of trying to explain to the captain the true logistics of his jutsu, and failing due to the Captain's fascination, the Captain informed that he had exemplified more than what was required of him for the mission and asked for nothing more. After enjoying a second lunch with the majority of the crew and the Captain, Ōsharu parted ways and headed back to shore. With his chakra running low, he headed straight home for a well deserved rest. The day had definitely been long, but what was the life of a shinobi if not to live a long and rigorous one!
