The time was over a decade ago before Alder had begun to live in Konoha. He still traveled the world with his parents. This was when this Uzumaki would spend most of their nights camping. Other times they would get lavish rooms at hotels at the expense of those who Calico was working for. While Alder didn’t always know at some point or another there had always been slugs of the forest near him but who knows was Alder that was drawn them or them to him. Today’s journey placed the family in the Land of Earth. It had rained pretty heavily causing some of the loose rock faces to fall in to the road. The path was very muddy and there was no point trying to avoid it so Alder didn’t try. Instead he relished in delight as he jumped and splashed his parents had gotten ahead but he was confident that he could catch up. Calico was a strict father but his mother new the importance of letting her son relax so she insisted that they leave him be and pulled her husband ahead so that he wouldn’t see Alder being immature for once. While playing making his way back he spotted something particularly large wriggling in the ground. It looked stuck so Alder pulled it out revealing a slug the size of a cat. Amazed Alder try to sit on a rock but it made a sound that could only have been a shrill. It was much too slippery and Alder wasn’t going to keep against its will so he let him go as fast as the slug could escape it slid into a rock crevice. Just before it made it all the way through Alder thought herd it say thank you. Doubting his ears he still politely responded with “No problem at all,” he peered into crevice that the slug disappeared into. Later Alder would learn that this slug was Rikuyu.
Alder was no longer traveling the world with his parents, instead they had settled in Konoha and Alder had graduated from their ninja academy. Alder was on a mission and herd voices his team not hearing anything followed Alder’s instincts, given he was normally right, and followed his lead as he investigated. When he came to the scene of the noise he saw large brightly colored slugs each over a food in length. Despite being on a mission and this situation clearly not being an impediment to their task Alder got involved. The purple was smaller in length only slightly but it clearly was clearly the winner in girth. Attempting to pry off was no easy task even more so because the mucus made it hard grasp. Swiping its tail under legs he fell over. Instead is he punched and kicked at the slug. Finally the slug gave up and turned his full attention to Alder “What the matter with you kid don’t see we are enjoying private time!’ Shocked at first that the snail spoke to him it didn’t last long as the feeling was turned to discugst. Alder face began change color, but he was polite so he would try to avoid further insulting the parties. Closing his eyes and bowing “Do forgive me, I thought...” Feeling hostile intent in the air he jumped back pulling out kunai. The snail that had been abusing the slug skin begin to flicker in color. Without warning from behind liquid was shot with consistency similar to glue. The slug that had attacked him in defense of Alder. His body had stopped shaking and he drew himself up to his full height “Menma that is enough!” For some it might have been funny to hear someone with such a high voice speak so boldly.
Scoffing Menma headed back to the forest claiming that this wasn’t fun anymore. He also informed Alder that this matter wasn’t settled.
