"Raito | Soul Seekers"
Clan Name: Raito
Clan element/'s: --
Special characteristics/traits:
Shogan | The Eye of the Dead
From the time of the first Raito ancestors, this eye doujutsu has been passed down within the clan and had access to what has been dubbed the Shogan, Eye of the Dead. It is not completely true to call this technique a doujutsu, as it is the result of two physical modifications within the clansmen. However, for all extensive purposes this technique grants clansmen an alternate form of sight that transcends the normal view of the world. In order to obtain this alternate form of sight it takes very little chakra, for the effects of this technique are actually created from physical adaptations that work naturally as part of a clansmen's physiology. This technique is performed by the activation of two unique attributes to a clansmen's physiology. The first of these modified biological formations is a set of retractable pupils that cover the retina, making a vein like deep-purple coating cover the entire pupil. These eyes act as a filter to sight, similar to how lenses can change the perception of the world. These new eyes, which do little on their own, work in conjunction with the receptors in the labial pits of the nostril cavity.
The type of sight that results from this technique is extra-sensory, but is unlike the infrared vision that many snake species possess. Instead, clansmen are granted a perception of the spirit world around them, a world traditionally known as Sho, or the "Shadowy Land of the Dead". While clansmen do not truly look into the underworld, what they are able to perceive is the spiritual overlapping of the living and the dead, allowing them to see the spirit energy of all living things, as well as that of the dead. Essentially clansmen are able to see the souls of the living, the life force of nature, and the usually unnoticeable spiritual trail left by the dead in this world. When used to view the living, clansmen are able to see the collection of chakra within the body, though not so such an extent as being able to see the chakra system, as the understanding of where chakra is being sent only stems from the fact that spiritual energy is half of what chakra is composed of. Each type of soul appears with subtle differences between one another, though they all maintain the physical shape of their natural being, allowing clansmen to distinguish between what they perceive, and even see through solid objects in order to maintain a sight on the souls they focus on. The souls of man can also carry with them distinguishing defects. When one individual kills another, a shard of the fallen foes soul become harmlessly imbedded within the murders' soul, and even these levels of impurities are noticeable to clansmen. When it comes to viewing the souls of the dead, clansmen see such wandering spirits in a different tint then those of the living, and such visions are susceptible to erosion with time, sometimes becoming to corroded that their true forms become undistinguishable. Normally these wandering souls are few in number in any given place, but large collections of such souls are not uncommon in such places as battlefield or places were large tragic events have been committed. When looking into the Land of the Dead, all non-living things or at least things without traces of spiritual energy appear blackish with only a loose outline around them, sometimes making it hard to see such objects. Reversely, spiritual energy becomes very easy to see, and can even appear with essences of them floating off their forms as through sun spots on a star, allowing clansmen to perceive greatly into the detail of the dead and the souls of the living. Using these eyes, clansmen can identify Jinchuuriki based around the intense glow of the demonic glow sealed within them. Furthermore, such things that carry spiritual signatures, such as summoning contracts, appear vividly even with them not being alive, since they are in essence bonds between souls that carry with them the tie to such creatures as they pertain two.

Goshoujutsu | Art of the Soul
- The Soul:
- The soul is a representation of life, for without it there could be no life, nor any death. Every individual can be broken down into three entities. The first is the mind. This is the center of intelligence, vexed by emotion. It is the embodiment of the individual's capacity to learn. The second is the body. As we are all beings of the physical world, we would be nothing without a vessel through which to live. The body is the power, though its strength can be tarnished by mild dissipation, and thus its development must be watched with a weathered eye. The body is the embodiment of the individual's capacity to grow. The third, and final, facet of the individual is the soul. No being that possesses consciousness, even as meager of a form as that of an animal, can live without a soul. Right and wrong; good and evil. These concepts are defined by the soul. However, the soul is unique. It is different from the former two facets. While the mind and body are no doubt on equal standing, the soul is the entity that continues on for eternity. The mind deteriorates, and eventually stops. The body weakens, and eventually returns to the ashes it was risen from. However, the soul lingers on. It resides within the spiritual world, a realm that overlaps the environment around us, and though the spirit may fade over time, it is never truly gone in entirety.
Most of the shinobi realm learn only to manipulate spiritual energy in the form of chakra, for they only have access to the entity when it is combined with their physical energy to be able to create the lifeblood that flows through the veins of the chakra circulatory system. However, the Raito have domain over the spiritual realm, and with it they are able to unleash tremendous power that is unforeseen within the shinobi arts. This power deals with the release and manipulation of the soul, both of the user and of other living beings. Though Raito clansmen have been able to forcefully command the aspects of the spiritual realm through an art they have labeled them Goshoujutsu, Soul Techniques. The negative effects for implementing these techniques has become as common place as those that would be expected from nature manipulation from the release and molding of elemental chakra. While this in no way negates the need for downsides in the techniques, the use of Goshoujutsu has largely replaced most of the clansmen's former chakra natures, and so comparatively they would suffer the same level of abuse as a typical shinobi would experience from the manipulation of some element.
- Beyond the Grave:
- Multiple facets of power are attained while Raito clansmen deal with the manipulation of their own soul and the souls of the living, Goshoujutsu can also focus upon the molding of the souls from the wandering dead. As explained previously, the soul is an entity that continues one in some form after the body has pasted from the realm of the living. Though ghosts typically go unnoticed by those that are still a part of the physical realm, clansmen can interact with them, and mold them much like elemental manipulation is performed.
- Projecting the Soul:
- The spiritual world is the distention for all souls that part from their physical body. Raito clansmen have the ability to exist within the spiritual realm. While this can be effective, it gives really no add strength to the user other than being able to project their soul outwards still leaving while their bodies are sitting ducks. These Goshoujutsu, Afterlife Techniques, merely give the user advanced resistance to the spiritual realm while still being able to interact with the living realm. (For reference check Dan's technique.) The downside to them is the chill. The spiritual plane possesses no heat, and for that matter, no cold. Neither are in existence there. However, the body can never be fully removed from the need for both, and while there is no cold there, once removed from heat, the body will become cold upon return to the physical realm, enough that extended time within the spiritual realm can permanently damage the body. An additional offering of this ability is to sift through the information of the spiritual world. However, doing this requires a high degree of concentration, and can lead to such things as painful bleeding noses and mental anguish if misused.

Description: This is a simplistic Goshoujutsu that is modeled after Daisan no Me (The Third Eye). This technique does not require traditional hand-signs, but usually does require a hand held with two fingers pressed against the center of the forehead, the traditional place where the third eye of Hinduism appears as a portal into the inner soul. At any rate, the technique requires concentration, as it gives to the user a traveling form of site, just as is done when an eye is formed from an element such as sand. This technique, however, does not use an element, but instead uses the command over the spiritual realm. By dispelling little amounts of chakra into the brain via the followers forehead they are capable of commanding a spirit of the wandering dead, followers will be able to see and hear whatever it is that the ghost perceives, allowing him to infiltrate largely unnoticed, or otherwise see where his vision is blocked. The ghost cannot be seen, but its presences with this technique can be felt. Were a person to walk straight through it, they will feel a ghostly chill that can potentially alert them to the supernatural manipulation occurring around them. While also little traces of chakra are left behind each time the ghost is used making it possible for sensory ninja to track it.

Description: This is a basic technique that, although it involves a slight invasion into the soul, has no hold on the target nor use in battle. Instead, this technique evokes the principal that the soul is the embodiment of an individual's consciousness. It is a passive ability, as it does not require hand-signs, though the symbol of soul must still be activated in order for it to be made of use. By making contact with the target, the user is able to communicate with them on a spiritual level. Essentially, the technique is very similar to a form of telekinesis, though it does not involve reading one the mind of the target in an invasive sense. The conversation level is no different then it would be were normal modes to be used, and so not only can the target refuse to speak, but they could even lie to the user, as he cannot know what they are actually thinking, but instead knows only what they intend to say. The advantage of this technique is that it permits for information to be exchanged amongst allies without exteriorly expressing the information in the form of words. However, in any case, all the user needs do to remove themselves is to express, by act or tongue, body or mind, the intent to leave and they will snap out of this instantly. Simply put, if the person does not wish to speak with the user, the technique will not work.

Description: After performing the necessary hand-signs and collecting chakra into their lungs, the user will shoot from their mouth an enormous sphere of ghostly flames. This spiritual essence appears as a bluish white fire, possessing a burning property to the soul. A direct hit to the target will cause temporary chaos to the opponent's soul sending a ripple through their spiritual energy that prevents the formation of chakra for a 2 post thereafter. The giant sphere of ghostly flames shoots towards the target in a straight path, and carries with it a rolling concussion force that can carve out a crater in its path when it travels along the ground. The size of this massive sphere depends on the amount of chakra used in this technique, but a high-ranking user can create a sphere larger then most men stand. However, for a crater of any form to be made with this technique, more chakra then normal must be expelled, and though this will increase the physical effects enough to create a crater, it will eliminate the spiritual effects of this flame.

Description: This is an advanced Goshoujutsu that manifests souls of the wandering dead within the physical world through a spiritual attachment of the user's own soul. After performing several hand-signs, this technique uses at a minimum of three sustainable souls of the wandering dead, channeling chakra into them to not only make them fully physical, but also distort their original forms, binding the souls onto the opponent, turning them into spiritual leeches, quickly draining the opponent of their spiritual energy, and thusly there chakra.
Once attached these souls become self-sustaining in their siphoning, feeding off of the spiritual energy they drain from the opponent's body. (A C-Rank Lasting Chakra Cost on the opponent) The more souls attached to a single target the faster the chakra is drained from the body, but relatively this is a fast pace assault to begin with. It is possible to kill with this technique, but not as a result of the technique itself. Instead, and opponent that forcefully tries to mold chakra they do not have because of the lack of spiritual energy could potentially kill or injure themselves, having pushed their body farther then it can withstand, not having spiritual energy to compromise along with physical energy. It should be noted though, that were a soul to be impacted directly with a technique as powerful or equaling it before the soul can be attached these spirits will fade, sufficiently fed.- The Souls Description:
- These souls remain metaphysical entities that cannot be attacked through means of physical objects, as they will pass through any object and person until the time they latch onto their desired target. However, these souls can still be attacked through the means of charka related techniques. (Example: An elemental or chakra sustaining jutsu of lower rank that connects with the soul would hinder it's movements but not dismiss it.) These starving souls ar loosely visible, appearing as ghostly outlines of spirits. Though visible, they are still hard to keep track of because they are translucent, appearing as gray figures that are almost entirely unnoticeable at night or when visibility is already low. These souls target the metaphysical essences. They manifest actual physical bodies once they've attached themselves to an opponent/host. To remove them, the opponent must simply destroy them with a physical strike to either their core or their skulls. The souls will vanish regardless after a duration of five post.

Description: This is an advanced Goshoujutsu, or soul technique, that creates an astral-projected form of the user. In essences, this technique projects Nezumi's spiritual consciousness outside of his physical body. To perform this technique, a two hand-signs must be formed. However, more important then this, the user must remain stable with this body, remaining motionless after performing this technique. To move is to cancel this technique immediately, causing the projection to vanish where it stands. The projection itself can take on many shades, but most commonly the projection appears as nothing other then a shadow form of Nezumi, having a completely black body, and yet still being translucent, and so see through. The only part of the projection that does not take on this aspect are the eyes, which still look as though they were within a physical body. This projection not only allows for Nezumi to communicate across great distances, but also allows for him to transmit the metaphysical aspects of his being, as it is not physical, and cannot physically interact with the world around it. What is meant by this contribution is that his chakra could be given to a cause, such as a sealing technique that requires multiple shinobi in order to perform. However, this extent of chakra contribution is purely supplementary, as it would be impossible for this projection to manipulate the area it is within, even upon such things as souls or spirits in the region.
Clan History:
Raito was in the beginning a single lone man, called by the same name. He had a wife, a farm and a happy life. He wasn't even part of the shinobi world, being a simple civilian who lived outside the hidden villages. He was known as an honest and kind man, who worked hard to survive and who cherished peace and joy. Everything was going fine, in the time of the man. War had just ended, peace was reigning as sole king over the lands. The man became prosperous, little by little, the good crops coming back every single year, feeding his family and giving him enough to sell and live comfortably. Yes, truly, this man was happy.
But we all know that happiness never lasts and that the storm always comes back whenever we expect the less. The world kept on being at peace, happy, joyful, calm and full of prosperity. But the man fell, crumbling little by little.
The event that brought him misery and pain, was a meteor shower. Thinking it were falling stars, his wife and him went to look at it, enjoying the sights of the many lights falling, just like fireworks. None of them were expecting that the small pieces and ashes of those humongous stones would fall on their lands and on themselves, unnoticeable, unnoticed. Nor did they even expect that those little pieces and ashes could bring so much damage in less than a single day... When they had grown tired from watching and that it had been time to go to bed, the couple left the shower of meteors continue without their presence. Neither of them would notice that the phenomena went on for all night long.
The next day, the morning went without any surprises, until dark clouds gathered in the sky and rain started to fall. The man, who had gone out to work on his fields, had found little pieces of black stone, everywhere, which reflected the sun light, like metal did. Not expecting anything, he had picked up some of it, to examine it at his home. When he stood up from his crouched position, the first raindrops started to fall, as well the first sounds of thunder made themselves heard in the afar. Unafraid by it, the farmer kept on working, knowing that the storm always clashed down on the other side of the valley. But, after a few minutes of work, he noticed that the sound and flashes of light of the storm came closer towards him and that the rain had stopped.
Feeling a bad omen, the man picked his tools up and started to go home. Having barely made three steps, the first clash of lightning happened right on the spot where he had been standing earlier. Fearing for his life, the man dropped his tools and ran, as fast as he could to escape. He had forgotten to drop his bag, bag that was filled with the small rests of meteors. And that was what attracted the thunder to him. But, cynically, it didn't touch him, until he arrived at his home, which was surrounded by several high trees. He hoped that he would be protected, him and his wife. But when the woman opened the door to let her husband enter, the lightning struck them both.
A few days later, from the body of the woman, something that resembled a child came out of her womb. An unborn child of which the man and the woman hadn't known about. But, it was made of flesh and bone but covered with lightning and chakra. It was pure energy around him, a coat that kept him from being harmed by the world. No one could really say if he was human or not. It roamed around it's parents for a while, like a lost soul, until it realized that they wouldn't wake up and feed him. The child sat down for a while, staring at the two burned rests of flesh that once were happy people, thinking. Suddenly, it seemed to have found an idea. It started to grow, to grow, until it had reached the size of an adult man and left the house, to never return to it.
The creature wandered for years, hiding from the humans and feeding itself only from earth, only thing that didn't turn to ash whenever it touched it and never drinking a drop of water, except the one that fell from the sky. It had grown lonely, silent, sad. What once had been a big ball of energy, was a little rest of lightning, that sparkled and chirped like a little spring bird with great difficulties. It had arrived in the Land of Tea.
One day, the creature arrived near the hidden village of Otogakure itself. Feeling at the end of his life and that his years long journey had ended, he let the last rest of energy he had left in it's shield, escape, to find a body to live in and died, silently, unnoticed, unnoticeable because it had been unknown to anyone.
The last piece of energy settled itself inside a weak chuunin while he slept and rested in the blood of the weak family for years, until it reappeared again, under the form of a child who cried and shocked everyone who touched her.
Like the first creature of this strange phenomena, she grew quite fast, after having remained of the size of a toddler for years. Once she reached twelve years old, she grew in one year to a blossoming young woman with great gifts.
The parents of the girl prepared a special training program and asked to a weapon smith to create special jewelry for their daughter, jewelry that would be able to channel the too much of lightning she had inside of her body. The woman, or rather girl, grew into a powerful kunoichi, the first one of a long lineage of generations for that family. She remembered pieces of the creature's and father's memories, understanding from where the power came from. Her descendants inherited of the same eyes as the creature and they were passed down for hundreds of years.
A clan, after several hundreds of years was created, around hundred years ago. The clan, over time, had grown, having several members with the bloodline that had been named, and two weapon smiths who forged their special items and weapons. They had created several jutsu and developed their powers too with the five first generations of those who carried the bloodline.
