Looks Description: Ryo is a charming young male ninja with quite the physique. His slightly tanned skin from the hot sun around Sunagakure was perfectly textured by his chiseled muscles from exercising daily. He often will run his hand through his icy white hair, which is always styled and will often form into large spikes. When most people look at him, they always seem to notice two things. The first of which, are his green eyes, giving most people a sense of honesty and compassion, and the second, is his shinning smile.
As far as his outfits, he will usually wear the standard ANBU cloak and mask in situations where combat is likely. However, when he is walking around the village and is off-duty, his attire is much more casual. Ryo often wears a black kimono underneath a white coat, covered with black symbols at the edges. Even when he is off duty, he usually carries around a long katana on his back, with a teal accent color on the grip, and a black sheath tied over his shoulder.
Personality Description: Ryo is an outgoing shinobi who is always willing to strike up a conversation with anyone he sees as friendly. He always enjoys meeting new people, and building relationships with others. Although some people will worry over all of the details, Ryo does not get caught up with little things that cause others stress or frustration, and prefers to just go with the flow. Once he becomes friends with someone, he will do anything and everything to keep their trust and protect them. Because of this, he is an extremely trusting and loyal friend.
In addition, Ryo enjoys constantly learning, building his skills, and strategic planning. He is extremely intelligent and observant, able to notice fine details in people and interpret them very quickly. Ryo enjoys a good game of shogi or reading a scroll or two to keep his mind satisfied, but his favorite activity is swimming. One of his ultimate goals is to find a place to swim in Sunagakure, and hopes one day someone will create his fantasy.
Ultimately, Ryo aims to build peace among the world by connecting shinobi together. He generally considers himself a pacifist, but in times where he must protect his friends, he is feared on the battlefield.

History:
Childhood Arc: Ryo was one of the first born children of the Terumi clan after their relocation to Sunagakure. The travel had been long and hard upon his mother, but Ryo was a healthy and white haired boy. He would be raised to the admiration of the entire clan as the prodigy they had been hoping for, someone who could bring the clan to fruition in their new village. Born to two shinobi of the clan, both of Ryo’s parents were highly skilled, and after a few weeks, became members of the ANBU in Suna.
The neglect of his parents began to ware on Ryo. With both parents living classified lives protecting the village, Ryo had little time to spend with either one, let alone both at one time. To fill his time, he began training, hoping one day he could go on missions with the rest of his family. He created his own wooden katana, and carried it with him wherever he went. Eventually Ryo’s skills in both ninjutsu and kenjutsu became prevalent when he became of age to enter the academy. One of the front runner’s in his class he excelled in learning all of the basic jutsu taught, as well as developing his kenjutsu even further. After graduating the academy, his clan bestowed upon him his own katana, this time made out of sharpened steel instead of simple wood.
Genin Arc: Following being assigned to his new squad, Ryo began developing him techniques with his other teammates, under the careful watch of his sensei. Under the wise teachings of his sensei, Takuya, he began to focus on more general ninjutsu, but found many roadblocks. Some of the other genin among his class were beginning elemental training, hoping to find affinities and learn new jutsu, but no matter how hard Ryo tried, he could not complete the training. With motivation to honor his clan and his sensei, he now focused all of his efforts on the art of the sword, and continued to spar with Master Takuya every day.
With his team, he completed many mission and expanded his skills, earning the respect of many of the villagers. After substantial time, Takuya encouraged Ryo to expand his skillset, and paired fellow Jounin sensei Ahri with his student. Ahri began to teach Ryo the beginnings of Fuinjutsu, or seals. Their time together was something Ryo always enjoyed, in between missions and sparring with master Takuya, and he always learned something new from their sessions. Ahri showed him many of her seals that she had created, as well as the more common ones, and drew them into the sands to demonstrate. However, she began to build his curiosity when she told Ryo how easy it was to create custom seals, and began work on his own jutsu immediately, but this task would not be accomplished for much time.
After a recommendation to enter the Chunin exams, Ryo and his fellow genin were put through trial after trial to test their strengths. After a survivability test in the deserts surrounding Suna, and a combat trial pitting teams from all villages against each other, Ryo advanced to the rank of Chunin, but his teammates were not so lucky. For his high ability, he was moved on to an advanced team of Chunin, and he would soon become an asset to his village.
Chunin Arc: At the start of his new rank, Ryo was hit with another huge roadblock. It was tradition in the Terumi clan to learn the clan’s bloodline from one of your parents, in a way of honoring the past ancestors of the clan. However, Ryo would never have this opportunity. His parents, soon after his promotion, arrived in poor shape after a mission. They left on a high profile assassination mission, but were ambushed after they struck the target. His father sustained multiple bruises and broken bones, while his mother had multiple cuts all over her body. The worst injury however, was a huge loss to their chakra abilities, and neither would be able to perform jutsu again.
Ryo then requested temporary leave from the Kazekage in order to help adjust his parent to civilian life. The two were honorably discharged from the ANBU, and their masks would forever be hung in the Terumi compound. After a large ceremony, Ryo spent many weeks caring for his family as they now took on merchant jobs around the village, trying their best to still be involved in the community. However, Ryo knew how disappointed the clan would be, especially if he could not learn the clan’s jutsu on his own or from his parents. He took back to honing in his skills and trained his elemental ninjutsu once again, but without any help from his clan, he failed to make any breakthroughs.
Towards the end of his career as a Chunin, Ryo became recruited for many difficult missions, but none would compare to a guard assignment for one of the largest shipment of goods across the dessert. Accompanied by other Chunin from his village, Ryo felt in pretty good hands, and didn’t think the guard detail would have any troubles. To say the least, he was wrong. Outnumbered, ambushed, and confused, a fight broke out between the defending Suna shinobi and a group of mercenaries sent to steal the goods. Jutsu broke out across the fight, and injuries were sustained on both sides. Ryo ran to defend the merchant traveling with the goods, and repelled two of the bandits away.
Casualties occurred on both sides, and the defending ninjas were much more successful than their assailants. With untouched cargo, they continued to the border before sending the merchant on his way. Upon arrival at Sunagakure, Ryo was admired by his peers for his leadership and staying calm in a high tense situation. Promotion to the ANBU ranks was awarded at a startling young age.
ANBU Arc: After being assigned to a squad and selecting a mask, Ryo immediately began going on A-Rank missions, with very little time in between. If it wasn’t protecting a high ranking noble in the Wind Country, it was body elimination and tracking in the desert. Working with some of the best, or at least he thought, Ryo became stronger and stronger, picking up the skills of his traveling companions. He began to excel at kenjutsu, picked up a few fuinjutsu techniques along his travels, and began to develop enough chakra control for an attempt at elemental jutsu.
Just a few years after his selection, Suna was in a bit of a drought when it came to skilled shinobi. A number of deaths and disappearances occurred through hardships and battles fought between the villages. A strong leader was needed to serve as a captain to the ANBU forces, and Ryo’s recent track record on missions spoke for itself. His recent dedication to try and learn elemental ninjutsu was inspiring those around him to work harder, and a promotion was extended to become an ANBU Captain.
RP Sample: Ryo couldn’t handle the traumatizing news. His parents, whom he had admired so much, had just gotten back from a mission, but were being immediately transported to the hospital in the village. After hearing this news, Ryo ran through the sandy streets of Sunagakure, taking the quickest route he could think of to get to the medical center. He pushed over villagers and maneuvered around other shinobi, hoping that he wasn’t too late to see them.
Upon reaching his destination, he was moved to the surgical center where he could wait for his parents to become stable. Ryo looked to the floor for hours it seemed like, with a variety of thoughts running through his head. Would his parents still be in the ANBU? Would they still be alive? These thoughts drifted among others as he waited for the nurses to give him the go ahead. Eventually, a nurse greeted him, and insisted that he follow along to see his parents. Ryo continued down a maze of hallways before arriving at a double occupancy room. Both of his parents were resting in hospital beds, and had sustained all sorts of injuries, but were still alive.
After a couple of minutes, two doctors arrived in the room, looking to find Ryo. They began to explain his parents’ complicated condition to him, but kept avoiding a particular question. Ryo hope to hear that his mother and father could return shinobi life after their recovery, but he never got to hear those words that night. Instead, the doctors were sure the two could not continue as ninja, and recommended honorable discharge after their recovery. His heart fell to the floor, he had always wanted to be as strong as his parents, but he was unable to protect them. As he looked at their peaceful faces, cushioned between the soft pillows of the bed, he knew he must become a strong shinobi to honor their legacy. He took his thumb and wiped just below his teary eyes, then thanked the doctors for their work before they left him in the room. That night, he promised his parents, he would take their burden to protect this village, and to protect them.
