He had done it. He had finally arrived to the famed, but rarely known, the legendary, but small scale, the peaceful, but chaotic home of Shadow Ninja Arts. Only a few days ago Kobachi had ventured off on a training trip like he frequently did, but it was on this trip he came by a mysterious stranger. This man spoke of this supposedly grand school of martial arts and that was enough to make Kobachi forget all about the date he had promised to return to Kumogakure. He had now been gone for an extra five days, deep in the mountains of the Land of Lightning, no where near the realm of jurisdiction of the Raikage or his ninja's.
Now with bloody finger tips the boy was tirelessly scaling a rocky wall. Using chakra would obviously be an easy out here, but that wasn't the type of life Kobachi was about. Moving his feet in a running like fashion he got his feet in near his body, with the ledge of the rock formation he was climbing in sight. Using his physical might alone, Kobachi then leapt for the ledge above him. One hand tapped the rocky surface and as the other moved up to do the same, the blood on his hands made his hand slip off and Kobachi then found himself in a free fall. Needless to say the teens heart was beating ferociously as he turned to face the ground below him to maybe find away to save himself.
There it was, he remembered the branch well as it was the piece of vegetation he had awoken on in the morning, so he knew it was sturdy enough to support his weight. His weight while falling was another story though. Maybe cheating himself out of training, though it was much needed in this life or death situation, Kobachi coated his hand with a small amount of chakra and pressed his hand off the cliff side to propel himself towards the branch that he was aiming to hit. That's right not, grab onto or catch, but to hit as that would be more realistic and a safer route, though it would be painful.
So with a quick shove, the teens palm was sliced open, but it was worth it as he had succeeded. Slamming his gut onto the thick branch of vegetation in the cliff side, while in pain the boy clung onto the extended dry branch for his life. The adrenaline made him break out into cold sweats and unnoticed by him before, Kobachi was shaking like a leaf.
"Fear." The words were said in a stoic voice and were enough to make the Genin almost lose his grip from the branch and fall to his death. "Fear for your life, but it was that fear that allowed you to survive and continue your journey in this world. You have my respect young one. Come . . . walk with me." The man was dressed in a curious style of garments, but seemed harmless, well not harmless, but he didn't seem like he meant harm. "I would walk, but I am training my body to not rely on chakra." The man looked at Kobachi as he stood on the cliff side denying the existence of gravity as he eyed the boy. "Chakra is a gift to us boy. It is nice not to lean on or over rely on things, but it is also nice to appreciate the gifts we have and take advantage of the things they allow us to do. With a simple glimpse I can tell you, you won't be able to make it even close to your previous spot." Kobachi looked up and saw his view up was blocked by a thin layer of clouds and he could feel his body's fatigue as he thought about climbing anyways, but he took the mans words to heart, for they did make sense. "I see what you are saying, so yes . . . I will walk with you sir."
The man seemed delighted and as Kobachi recollected himself and stood on the safe haven before walking up the mountain side. "So, I imagine that you are here to train at the Shadow Ninja Arts school?" Kobachi nodded and smile to the man. "Yes, I hear they have ancient techniques that could help me on my journey" The man nodded and chuckled a bit. "You remind me of myself when I was a Genin, well . . . when I was a ninja. Now I'm just an old hermit. Hah!" Kobachi shared a laugh with the man, then wondered why the man was in attendance. "So what about you, why are you hear sir?" Please, call me Blanka, but I'm hear for the same reason you are, to see the school of Shadow Ninja Arts. I heard about it from a traveler while on the road." Kobachi's eyes light up as the man said that. "The same thing happened to me! That's very interesting, but I hope our training is very good for our body and minds. A lot of teacher forget to train their minds too." Kobachi was a little inclined to begin to talk about the chakras to the man, but didn't want to flood his head with info he probably wasn't interested in.
After an hour or so of walking, the duo had finally arrived. But what they saw was more than disappointing. The martial arts school had been destroyed, no beyond destroyed, it was decimated. Smoke still rose from the burnt wood and tatami matting, this alerted Kobachi that this was done at the most, half a day ago. "This smoke means that the destruction was soon ago. We should keep looking to find clues." Kobachi had took a knee near a destroyed building and the man did the same near him and nodded. "You're right . . . on both ends. Lets keep investigating."
Wandering through the rubble and the destroyed area it wasn't long before they came across a group of dead bodies. Seemingly there were two groups, this being assumable from two outfits that were recycled on the bodies of each deceased soul. The two shared a look and nodded, they were on the same page. The group that was at fault wasn't distinguishable at this point, but at least the story was beginning to get painted out.
"Hmm . . . I will try to find people, hold on." Kobachi paused and took in a breath before making two simple handseals. Expelling his breath into the atmosphere, he laced the air with his chakra allowing him to sense any and all presences. Waiting a moment with closed eyes, he then opened them. "I found one person, but they seem to be low on chakra, we should hurry." The man nodded and followed Kobachi lead as they proceeded.
