The autumn season, the season of falling leaves, strong winds, and yet storms. With that said it was a strong winded afternoon, clouds filled the red and orange sky. Piles of colored leaves being pushed around by the wind as the village people raked them aside. There in the streets walked a young genin girl of bright red hair, bright blue eyes, and yet shared a blank face of that without interest. Her face seemed to seep into the crowd she followed however what kept her separate from them was her band with the village crest wrapped on her arm.

Then again, she was still but a young teen may even still a child. She had the face like a doll, her size was so short, if anything she looked so feeble compared to her true nature. She however, even with such a hardened past so early in life did have a fear. She feared storms, lighting that clashed and the thunder crash. Not many knew this, mostly because the way she shows her fear is to run off without showing anyone it, keeping her fear to herself and dealing with it alone. Even with her caring parents and younger brother she kept anything she felt weak against to herself, as if to somehow come over it stronger whilst alone.

Of course that's only because of the rules of a shinobi itching and irking her in the back of her mind. She wasn't suppose to have fear, nor cry at any time. She wanted to be stronger, for her family. That was what she said the first day of her Academy days in such a serious voice for a child. What she meant by that even she didn't know back then, she was such a selfish child then. Now she's seen things, been through them, changed by them. To protect her family, she now meant those she trusted and cared for. She still needed to learn better but her goal is of a good cause, even if seen as cruel to others.

Either ways the sky was getting darker by the minute, and there she walked on the streets, only to stop and sit under a tree for a little. She pulled her knees to her chest, sitting her folded arms uptop of them and resting her head on her knees, peering her eyes out to just scan the people who went by. She sighed, closing her eyes for a moment to think to herself.

Tick tock… Tick tock… - the second hand chimed as it went round a numerous amount of times around the face of the analogous clock sitting on the bed side table, next to it a picture sat facing upward as though it had just been placed down after being viewed. A bare caramel mocha skinned toned arm extended outward and grabbed ahold of the picture, as he laid in the twin sized bed generously provided to him by the people of Konohagakure he held the picture directly above him. The image that the boy viewed was of himself and another with very much the same characteristics, both with an arm around the other and cheering gleefully into the camera, brother's without a doubt but more importantly, twins. This moment which had been frozen in time marked the last smile given by either Puredetā child. Tears began to swell in the eyes of the boy as he reminisced about the days that his brother would be next to him every waking and sleeping moment of the day.

"I'm sorry brother… I have nothing to say but that I'm sorry… I know you wouldn't want me to be sorry, but how can I not? Never have I fretted about taking a life… People deserve what's coming to them based upon their decisions… But, you and I both didn't deserve this… Why couldn't you just listen to me!?!"

It was a rare feat to get the young Puredetā boy to produce speech since his unwritten vow of silence, as of lately extreme emotion has gone about bringing this out of him, more specifically those revolving around his past and brother. A sigh released from his bronze chest as he sat upright and cocked his head to the side to view out of the only window of the room, though no immediate light filled the room the outside world was still blessed by the presence of the sun as it slowly progressed and transitioned into the night. Deciding that too much idle time had been spent within the confines of his room, Rōarku slipped into his normal attire before sliding back the glass window and exiting his apartment.

Navigating the rooftops of the many residential and business buildings of the streets of Konoha had become routine just to avoid any confrontation, a few complaints about footsteps heard late at night had been reported to the Hokage which then made it to the Foundation's leader, thus the soles of his sandals had been laced with chakra to muffle any and all noise he made. Rōarku watched as the streets quickly began to empty as the residents of the village made their way into their homes, but a certain red haired individual caught his attention as she did the opposite of all the others and sat underneath a tree off of the beaten path. Hiding behind the chimney of a house, the boy began to view and analyze the female's actions and body movements. The position she was in was one that he mimicked many times over, though under the seclusion of his house, nonetheless he could tell something was eating her up on the inside.

"Don't interfere Rō, this is not your problem… People… They get what they put into their lives… But, should anyone have to shoulder the burden of their problems truly alone?"

In the midst of his thoughts the product of his lineage spurred up and a cloud of steam began to release from his body and give away his position, if viewed by the female confrontation was more than inevitable.

She seemed lost in the crowds passing by that day. Each being their own person and yet unable to seem so when trapped in such a line. Her mind followed them as they walked around to what seemed as aimless to herself, some to shop or part to home. She sighed for a moment with her arms still infront of her face. She seemed calm, yet lonely as she sat there. With the day passing on quietly and quelled into the sunset. Her mind buzzing with the reality that she never trusted many people, and so she also in turn never became friends with others either. It was her own fault however, it was due to the anxiety that she feared betrayal.

She took a huff of air before seeing steamy air flow before her, She was surprised and with a gasp she got up quickly in a stance of fear and shock. She stood in her fighting position, looking around quickly before grabbing a kunai from her pocket and tossing it toward the steam cloud. It was then that she got behind the tree she sat under to take cover and barely peeked out in fear of being caught out in a barrage of troubles. She spoke out in a clear voice towards the steam cloud, fearing the worst. "Who's there, speak or I will attack!" Her mind buzzing with frustration and anxiety. It took her back to a few months ago when the village was attacked.

It was by a similar mist of sorts, a missing-nin of Kirigakure had attacked with an enlarged sword, slaying countless shinobi and destroying the kage faces of the mountain that peered over the village. She lost her sensei and teammate from it as well, leaving her in this deep set paranoia that she was. She guided her chakra to her hands incase she needed to attack with a slight glow to them as if she was preforming a healing jutsu. She had excellent chakra control, nearly always able to control it within her hands and fingers, down to the very tips. However how would it fair in a fight to someone much wiser and older than she. She didn't know, hence she stayed cautious rather than overly prideful.

Seconds turned into hours as the boy's minded pondered on the thought of such a burden he now had to shoulder, the gaze that was transfixed on the female became blank to the boy, so much so that he did not pay attention to what was being released from his body. Not too many missions left impressions on his psyche quite like his last assignment, every detail of it had been retained like a hot brand in the back of his mind. The events that took place on that mission had caused the burden upon the genin, his lack of choice had forced him to shoulder it all.

"All of which that I've done can not have been in vain… Can it?... Here I stand questioning the very organization that has took me from my lowest and helped me to where I am now… Yet… Could the Foundation be responsible for every event up until my clan's extinction, thus forcing me into the position that I am in now?"

Lost in deep thought, the boy's sight failed him as the female he had been watching shifted her position upon viewing the unaccounted form of display made by him. His attention was so absent from present time that it took his enhanced hearing to snap him from his zombified, the whistling of the kunai as it sailed through the air alerted him enough time to dodge the kunai, they chimed as recoiled off the chimney and scattered across the rooftop. The first strike had been dealt without warning, In an instant Rōarku's whole mindset changed into one prepared for battle, thus he leapt from the rooftop and landed 25 M across from the female. With the exception of what couldn't be seen of the lower half of his face, he appeared content, even his body seemed lax despite his hands positioned in a stance to fight.

The words the woman spoke were clear and based on her tone she was to be taken quite seriously, but none of this mattered to the young Puredetā because for the first time since his last mission he began to feel that familiar tingle coursing down the length of his spine, this was the thrill of the hunt. Unfortunately for the female, she wasn't going to get an answer whether Rōarku wished for the battle take place or not due to his trend of lack of speech, thus he prepared for battle. Small cracking sounds echoed as he rolled his neck in both directions, even from the small movements he had done up until this point he could tell that his body was heating up, the kinetic energy being turned into heat and causing the contents of his special heat glands to boil. Soon, he would have another episode of releasing steam, only this time it was sure to be controlled.

"Young girl… I know not why you attacked me, but you have excited me… Most definitely, you've started to hunt and as the Apex Predator… I will show my dominance…"

She watched him seem to avoid the kunai, it wasn't as if her aim was to kill him and neither was it perfect. She had only curiosity due to fear of danger. She barely followed his movements, even within the mist he spread about. She immediately thought back on her thoughts and it reached to the day the faces were torn down. That damn woman, that stupid sword she held which had slain her sensei. That damn sense of fear and paranoia, all of it was swimming back as she seemed to re-watch it over and over. Seeing her teammate leave without a notice and her inability to stop him. Her mind kept itching at her as she looked at the guy.

Even without meeting him formally, she already started to hate him. Her teeth gritted in anger at his presence alone. Her mind buzzed around at herself and she felt the need to do something. She began by holding up a finger towards the guy with much of her chakra pulled to it causing a bright glow to come from it. She was beginning something. She began to trace out a Kanji symbol. What it was, one couldn't tell yet however she knew it was a matter of time before he'd attack, with such a silent response. The silence didn't bother her so much as the mist. With a good shout she said to his silence. "Once again, tell me who you are." This time she didn't care if he did speak back, she'd send out her own attack anyhow.

It had become apparent to the boy that the female had not accepted the fact that he wasn't going to engage in any means of verbal communication with her, a test of skill was all that Roarku wished for and from the girl's chakra enriched hands his silent treatment was working. From zero to one hundred, the young Puredetā boy darted on a path that would encircle the young girl while keeping the same distance away from her. As he lapped around the female his eyes went to work analyzing the situation that he was faced with, close attention was made to the markings that she made in the very air, a plan would need to be devised soon. The kinetic energy from the many times that he rounded the female began heating up the boy's body, this causing the contents of his sweat glands to boil which then produced a thick cloud of steam to flow from out of his pores.

"Hmm… What is it that she's writing? I can't make it out yet… This is definitely a different type of Ninjutsu, or hell this might even be Fūinjutsu!?!... I hate taking the subtle approach, but it'll have to do for right now until I can find a smoother means of attack… Wha? Ugh!... It seems I've jetted again… Hmm… Maybe I can use this!..."

At a rapid pace the caramal-mocha blurred image that was Roarku began to illuminate turning a bright orange, the chakra that flooded throughout his body rapidly heated up his sweat glands which caused the intense orange glow, with his temperature now risen from 121ºF to 212ºF means of touching the boy would be close to impossible. A dust cloud kicked up as he came to a skidding halt at seven o' clock from the girls position, in the process his left hand slid across the floor while the other gripped the hilt of his sword in the holster on his back, a familiar stance. Typically referred to as the Predator's Stance, from this position he would be allowed to attack or retreat comfortably at his discretion.

"Let's see who's teachings have produced the better shinobi, Konohagakure or The Foundation…"

She watched his movements speed up faster and faster in a motion that could make one dizzy. However her attention was quick, she was able to follow him closely even to the point of seeing the difference in skin tone that happened so rapidly, and so much mist. She pondered on his attack however while she did she was finishing her jutsu. The Kanji symbol was completed and formed the sign 鳥 for Bird. At that she pressed her hand to it and like a swift gust of wind three small birds appeared. These birds however weren't the real thing, their bodies composed of wind and gust movements, their wings flapping faster than a hummingbird. She turned her head to the boy in his attack stance.

She couldn't go up to him, with barely any taijutsu in her arsenal she was useless up close in combat. With that however she was an excellent strategist and so took one of the birds attention by her finger and pointed it at him. The other two stayed by her as the first soared towards him at super high speeds. Unless he had the speed of an adept tai specialist or used a B-rank item or jutsu that bird would have near perfect aim to him. Of course he could try to dodge it, but then what about the other two birds, and what about the one circling back to him if so.

She was ready, and she didn't care if this battle was started by her hands, she hated him now. Whether she knew him or not she hated his presence. She hated the memories that came with it. Most of all she hated the look in his eyes during the battle. It was like he was trying to look down on her, or so she felt, which just drove her to hate him more. She wasn't weak, and here she wanted to prove that.

The name Apex had been bestowed upon Rōarku from his earliest days under the tutelage of the Foundation's leader, it being the shortened term for The Apex Predator, his skill in sensory and unmatched tracking potential proved a true testament, but his current stance is what truly put application to the title. Teamed with the product of his lineage, from this stance he would be able to defend by means of blocking or retreat to a better vantage point from an attack, it's development spanned the course of three years throughout which it's prowess was tested against a shinobi of the same lineage as Rōarku with parallel skill, thus he knew of its uses and flaws like the back of his hand. After being used to take the life of his twin brother the stance's use had only been seen when matched with a formidable foe, apparently somewhere deep within his soul the girl's skill impressed the young boy, so a sense of honor should overcome her, but because of his silent nature this would never be made available to her. Thus, a hidden accomplishment it would remain in the psyche of the young Puredetā child as the first impression of those taught by the village rather than by the Foundation.

With each passing second the intensity of that familiar tingling feeling intensified as it ran up and down the course up the length of Apex's spine. Albeit orgasmic at times, the thrill of the hunt dually served to keep Rōarku focused in on his target as he was now. The relaxed nature of his body helped to allow his enhanced sense of sight better insight of his opponent, although twenty-five meters (25) away from one another in his eyes she was right up close, every slight movement and eye-twitch was to be accounted for. Getting an up close look at her technique, Rōarku began to silently get excited as the writing transfigured into birds of the Fūton | Wind Release nature. Knowing he had mere moments to decide a course of action before the bird would be in to close of range to dodge, thus he began to run through different battle scenarios within his mind from when he trained under the foundation.

"She's going with a forward but reserved first strike… Which means she's testing the waters, but she's trying to stay safe… Hmm… She has good reason to fear, but not in the fact that harm would become of her… No, that's just too simple… Her fear shall stem very concept of the Apex Predator"

And just like that, it was decided and his plan of attack went into affect as he kicked from the ground and sprinted forward at the bird, his sword had been drawn in the process, both hand sailed behind him as he moved at Taijutsu Adept speeds toward his target, to those . After closing the distance to fifteen meters (15 M) Rōarku then performed a baseball-style slide underneath creation of wind, an overhand strike from his blade wielding hand was aimed at to go coursing through the bird, but it narrowly escaped his reach. Upon watching it turn back around and taking the same path to strike him, he kicked his feet into the ground which helped to propel himself into stride once more. With the distance closed to seven meters (7 M) the second portion of Rōarku's plan went into affect.

As his right foot came down on the ground a jet of steam erupted from underneath his foot, instantly he was launched ten feet (10 Ft.) into the air, this put his five foot four inch frame more than twice the girls height within the air. In addition to putting him in a better vantage point, this act helped to send the bird that was tailing him forward at its master, the speed it traveled made little room for her to dodge, more than likely one of her other creations would have to stop it. Landing on the ground in a forward rolling tumble, he traveled some distance before he kicked up from this position and fell into his stride once more, effectively continuing to close the gap between himself and the female. Besides falling into the tumble, his speed on land was so intense that his appearance was blurred  to those whose eyes had not been trained to the Adept level of Bukijutsu.

"Time has run out young girl… The Apex Predator has pounced at his prey!..."

The boy reached his free hand into his hip pouch removing two kunai in the process, upon touching his hand the shinobi tools began to glow a feint orange hue much like himself as his chakra was poured into them. Rōarku's eyes remained fixed on his opponent as an arm was cocked back and the kunai went sailing through the air at his opponent, both of which aimed for the upper portion of her chest and her gut. Surely she would be impaled if actions were not quick, but which would she dodge first: the kunai or her own creation? Even then what would she do about the young boy who's current position put him at four meters (4 M) away from hers, with the way he positioned his medium length katana there was no telling what his next move would be.

her mind was buzzing with what to do, steps and processes, how to work through each advantage and pull back into what she needed to do. She was attentive, strong minded and desperately wanted an answer. An answer not to who would win, but who would come out less torn, less wounded or disadvantaged. Who would need to become stronger, more alive from the mistake that was given. She knew it was her own fault with this starting, but her feelings towards those kinds of movements, and the way they acted made her feel as if it was that day, the day she lost something peaceful in her life. Something worth her time and care, and someone who could teach her what she needed. Then again it's not like he stopped her from attacking, it was a fault that both shared here.

She watched him move in face pace motions, even his eyes were scanning her and her jutsu as much as possible. She watched right on back, seeing him jump up into the air and slide under her bird. It was nothing more than dodging it, nothing to much to fear. However he jumped into the air, much higher than before and allowed the bird to come towards herself as if trying to turn the attack on her. She watched the bird near her, almost coming to a hit however she sliced at the air with her hand as if it were a command and soon as the first bird was, she had made it disappear as quick as it came. Not even a moment sooner, or later, she looked back up the the boy attacking. She wasn't stupid enough to let her own jutsu comeback to hit, she controlled it with the utmost precise moments. Her chakra control was near perfect enough to make near second decisions.

His movement speed was fast, too fast for one's normal eyes Which speaking of she noticed the kunai coming with her sensory between them both she sent off the other two birds towards them. She then knew he'd take the dive towards her and just as the birds neared the kunai she sliced the air once more, causing the birds to explode in a strong gust of wind. Even if it didn't send the kunai flying back it surely would offset the speedy shinobi after her. With that time she used this time to use another jutsu to avoid his attack, Gasping in wind from the attack and then blowing it infront of herself, raising her legs into the air.

With that the jutsu she used pushed her out of the way around 5 meters to the side of where his attack would land. Just enough of a push however not to send her into a wall or a tree, but rather she tumbled back into a backwards roll to avoid damage. She had fallen many times with training to know that even if she wasn't strong enough to land on her feet that she could roll until she could, to roll out the speed of the wind pressure. With that she could finally catch her footing and after the roll she ended up now around 6 meters, the extra meter being the roll she had done. She stood up to look back at him, to see what he'd do now that she ruined what he was trying to do. After all she liked it when she could show what she could do and not feel like someone's medical bag.

With that wind pressure of course that would send the kunai flying, however she had ridden of the birds so the dirt surrounding herself would be easier to kick up from the second jutsu. Now it was near impossible to see through the dirt storm that surrounded that small area, however with her eye sensory she couldn't see him either so it was just as difficult for herself. She wasn't meaning to attack, but rather hide. He was exceptionally fast, his odd colored skin gave off a vibe as if it's meant for something. So for now, rather than fight she's avoiding him until he'd either tire out from using that jutsu or just in general.

The course of events that took place up until the girl blew herself away caused confusion within the mind of the young Puredetā boy, his actions were smooth and even flawless to some degree in the presence of untrained eyes, yet not even a single blow had been landed. Was this the extent of the shinobi raised under the guidance of Konohagakure no Sato? Or was he truly just outmatched by a simple red-headed girl? All of which were unanswered questions at the moment, only the ending of the battle between the two shinobi of the Hidden Leaf would provide the correct and most true answer. Thus, upon viewing the girl who he had not even acquired a name from block strike after strike his blood began to boil, irritation set in and his base body temperature raised once more.

Upon closing in on the girl's current position Rōarku cocked his blade wielding arm to his side, to ensure for a well placed strike his eyes remained fixed on her stomach. Obviously, with being allowed residence within the village his strike was not meant to be lethal what so ever, but upon hearing her very clearly draw in air into her lung's through the use of his clan's lineage, Rōarku's mindset shifted slightly. Just a few inches in front of him was his opponent, the time to strike was available, but his arm wielding the medium length katana met nothing but air as the girl removed herself from his immediate area. Yet again the boy came up short, with his blade outstretched he remained fixed in his striking position, a reminder of another failure. Despite, all of his useful senses pointing toward the girl's location within the dust cloud at his right side, he didn't move a muscle.

"This is irritating, this cat and mouse game… How are you going to engage in combat with someone then run at every strike… My talents are best suited within this blasted organization… I see the point in the need for the Foundation… Konoha shinobi are weak… There is no longer a need to carry out this 'spar'…. I have bigger fish to fry, starting with the remaining shinobi of that cell…"

Straightening up to his full height, Rōarku slid his katana back into the holster on his back before turning his attention to the dust cloud to ensure nothing else followed. The thickness of the cloud still hindered any visibility in and out of its mass, thus taking note of this the boy crouched down before springing into the air and landing on a branch extending out from the trunk of the tree that the girl had been sitting on earlier. A jet of steam erupted from the soles of the boy's sandals which helped to propel him some distance away from the area as he made his leave.

She took in the moment to look at the boy angrily however stood up straight with a serious attitude. She watched him become frustrated from her dodging his attacks. She had no clue whether he was intending to kill her or not and with her lack thereof skill in close combat she felt that getting farther was safer, if not smarter for herself. However seeing as the gust cloud was dissipating and he had done nothing within it to try to even attack through it. She became slightly confused, her mind trying to think of what situation this was. She watched as he jumped through the clouds upwards and landed on the branch of the tree she had sat under. Was he giving up, or did he see her as less of a threat, whatever the matter she glared up at him.

As he went off she grumbled slightly before taking the time to think it through and decided to go find someone about this. Sure sparring is allowed but that wasn't the question, the question was who was this and why attack her. Of course she'd also need to know why he took off in such a way from a heated battle. So many questions yet none to answer. Why such a puzzle put to her, after all she was just trying to figure out other ones. Now she had just more to think on, crawling into a shell that she made all because she never thought to break it due to weariness of safety.
