The Third V
Kumo Jounin
Kumo Jounin

Spoiler:
Kurome could see Kumogakure gates just ahead of her. Dashing at high speed, the extra quirkly killer girl exercised her physical prowess as she lepat from building to building - her Taijutsu was clearly good enough to handle the leaping agility necessary at such high altitudes. She made a massive leap, jumping across a few dozen meters. Her body ricocheted through the air, and with a pleasant joyous smile on her face, she explicity enjoyed the air blowing past her as it fanned her clothes, even to the point that those directly below her would be able to see her bare naked chest. But the Extra-quirky girl does not mind that. She landed on the natural mountain borders of the village, fortified by concrete walls. Her commanding officer had been waiting for her all this time, but it looks like she made it on time, so she can begin her mission.

"Kurome Makashi. 16-year old Jounin. Nice leap! We're gonna get right down to business. You are to observe the landscape from here for one hour, before you move onto the next post in another perimeter. Although not being a sensor handicaps you, you can still use your honed sight and hearing to detect any movement within a few kilometers of here. Chances are that rogues and bandits of all kinds are either staking out near the village and heading towards its way, so as border security, it is your role to inform your superiors and then wait for further orders. I'll leave you here, and good luck!"

The officer left. Smiling, Kurome was always in a happy mood. She turned to her left. "Stay sharp, Jimmy. We can't sense chakra, so you have to use your natural senses to detect the enemy" Kurome said, ignoring the fact that Jimmy can indeed sense chakra and do just about everything else. She observed her post for about a hour, only shifting her gaze away in order to take a snack break, which lasted only a few minutes. Even so, her fellow peers would keep an eye out for her. AFter the hour passed, Kurome did not see anything suspicious, and neither did Jimmy. Looks like things were ngoing well for the village so far. Although to be honest, Kurome doubted that any competent shinobi with some decent awareness of Kumogakure geography will go up the mountains in plain sight. With their elevated advantage, the guards would be detect a black dot no diffrent from how humans would see ants and react accordingly. If danger were to occur to the village, the enemy would either be tunneling underground or inside.

She moved onto the second post, where she was given similar instructions. Kurome found it important, along with Jimmy, that knowing the stucture and perspective of the border posts was important for any Kumogakure shinobi doing surveillance, for it gave them insight on where to look from for enemy patrols. From here, she could see many hills, crags, and small mountains, but no movement. As they were right underneath the clouds, Kurome also had a wonderful view of blossoming forests, though since they're at a distance away, they cannot detect any rustling in the furthest of trees, leaving them the trees at the base of the mountain to give insight on who's there. Still nobody.

Moving onto the third post, Kurome and Jimmy situated themselves eight along the edge of the border, making themselves clearly visible to any people approaching them. She saw a rustle of the trees, and immediately placed her hand on the hilt of Black Cold, but Jimmy restrained her and told her to look again. It was merely a bear. Moving along with the course of nature. Kurome sighed and thanked immy for opening her eyes.

Onto the fourth post, Kurome was almost 270 degrees compared to where she was originally. She could see that the sky was a tad different now, suggesting that several hours have already passed since she began her duty. Kurome noticed a speck down near the base. It appeared to be a sword. Kurome would report this to another officier. The officer wasn't interested in her reports about the natural surroundings, and she didn't notice any changes to the terrain that would suggest human inteference. But the sword di catch the eye of Kumogakure authorities. She was released to her last post.

"Darnittttt!!" Kurome yelped out loud, that her fellow peers, along with Jimmy, had to place their palms over her mouth so that sound waves can't continue to echo from where they were. The air was thin so it's not look sound would travel far, but still, better safe than sorry. She was positioned behind a rock where Jimmy and she could not be seen. She wanted to play cards with Jimmy, but Jimmy refused, and Kurome understood from him that the mission was the most important thing right now, and if she messes up, then the village would fall and the RAikage would be mad.

Kurome could hear it. Turning to the source of the rustle, she could see a hooded figure making his way through some trees, and with some gaps in the trees' "bush", she was able to make out the humanoid as it made its way to Kumogakure. How silly! Utterly silly! Kurome tried to prevent her body from letting out all of her quirky laughter. She took the "quiet" route as the people of the village called out. Moving like a ninja, she would move with separate intervals of quick and light pacing down a separate path surrounded by rocks, so that she could make it to the base of the mountain before the figure did. She was informed by Jimmy that the enemy was holding some kind of bladed weapon, so that she should try to ambush him and end it with her own Kenjutsu capabilities. She could not see the target as she stealthily made her way out of the route and down to the base of the mountain. However, she was able to detect these strange movements along the ground, as dust was kicked up ever so slightly you'd only notice it if you were behind. It was there did she figure out what was going on, because she was told by Jimmy the fact that the enemy had some kind of invisibility trick going on with him. Analyzing where the enemy should be, she unsheathed Black Cold by a few inches, before telling Jimmy to support her as they try to make a quick attack on the target. "Let's go" she whispered.

She rushed out and swung her sword right where she thought the enemy should be. The bandit saw the attack coming, and in order to release chakra through his blade, the invisibility cloak that he activated revealed his position, which was right where Kurome had predicted to be. She slashed his neck before he could lift his blade up to defend, ending his life. Was he acting alone? That was something for the authorities to find out.

Spoiler:
The Raikage handed down his order to several shinobi, making it clear that this new project for the village must have a successful start no matter what. The Great Wall of Kumogakure, constructed during this new era after a major incident involving Kumogakure killings, would take several years at least to build. The thousands of workers signed up for this massive project are the very foundation for the wall's grand stature and success to come into play. Kumogakure citizens, dedicated members of a nation that thrived on glory and power, wanted this wall to be a symbol of  Kumogakure's collective might and ability to get things down. This wasn't just to fortify their defenses or to enhance economic gain, but this also allowed them to show off what their people can do. Having a superior display of architectural achievement granted Kumogakure a kind of prestige as well as cultural prosperity as it united the citizens into pouring their efforts to see this wall through, hopefully before their generation ends. But they were some, both inside and outside of Kumogakure, who did not want to see the wall built, for whatever reason. It was no concern to Kumogakure's Number One Extra-Quirky Girl, who considered the matters and affairs of such plebians very, very insignificant. As well as did her friend, Jimmy.

Kurome was busy conversing with many of the workers. She wanted to know how the wall is going to be built, what materials were doing used, where they were being gathered from, what tools would assemble them together, and what the carpenter and layout frame work looked like. In the constructions maps that she saw, there were many different measurements and dimensions. Math seemed to be the most important factor in designing this wall, as she could see many famous civil engineers that were sent by the Daimyo of this country, before she was kicked out simply because she could not enter. But the Extra-Quirky Girl did not mind.

Holding hands with Jimmy, Kurome could see that the first wall was half-way to being built. She surmised that if an attack was to come, then it would come before the first wall could be fully built, so that the hearts and hopes of Kumogakure citizens would not be raised and think that perhaps this Great Wall might actually be successful. She stood on the second top floor of the construction site, acting as security police as she looked out not only to the surroundings, but also at her fellow workers. An enemy might have enlisted just to partake in this construction scheme. If so, then there was hardly any way to prevent them from coming in. As this was a public works project, one cannot keep track of who joins and their background. Whoever joins joins, and what did it matter who they were? They needed numbers and the desire to work to get this thing done. Which is why it was an easy ploy for enemies of this project to take it down from within. Conversely, from the outside of Kumogakure, one might launch siege assaults at the wall. The wall would not even stand a chance at standing as it wasn't even near completion yet. It would fall within a few dozen minutes, and as Kumogkaure forces were stretched apart, while the enemy is at a distance away, it would not be hard for their enemies to make a quick escape after sieging, and Kumogakure may not even know who they were attacked by. Or perhaps the enemy was within, looking at the wall with bitter hate from the window of their house, getting ready to fire an arrow with an explosive attached right at it. Although it'd take time for the wall to fall, the military would not be able to pinpoint who was firing what or where it came from, as they could not discriminate citizens as they were inside their houses, and yet if they are clustered up together. Sure, they could bust in people's homes, but they don't know where to start, and they still have to maintain the panic reaction, as people's hearts would be greatly dismayed and their support for the project would waver if one of their own, from within the village looking at the workers working every day, would want to make it fall.

She turned around immediately when he heard the scream of a man. a man had pushed off the worker from the heights of the construction site, sending him falling to his death. Kurome recognized the man who took off his construction hat immediately. A Chunin whow ent by the name of Sengoku Akira, one of the so-called "conservatives" in the village. She took out her Black Cold and went into battle immediately, As she was a superior fighter, she was able to punt the Chunin aside and off from the construction site as well. She fall off also, but as she was able to concentrate her chakra, her feet were able to adhere to the metal bars. But the Chunin wasn't bad. He found his footing and grabbed onto a wooden board of the lower floors, while using his chakra to try to stick to it. The Chunin would attempt to run away not that he has been found out, out onto outside of Kumogakure. Kurome trailed after him, and overtook him as she began to run at a high pace. Using Hamon, she was able to accelerate her speed throguh the use of a shockwave that allowed Kurome to past by him. Using Kissaki, Kurome would poke holes right in his chest, but did so no more than six times, as she did not want to kill the man or severely endanger his vitals, although he did bleed alot from her attack. It was a shame that she could not save the life of the man who fell, but this made it clear the danger and severity of this project. Sacrificies had to be made, and if people don't die from bitter adversaries, they'd fall from overwork, accidents, or falling. Perhaps it is time for Kumogakure to step up their game and be realistically competent. It was the only way they can truly make thsi project succeed and show kumogakure's ability to endure and persevere, earning their right to build this glorious barrier that showed what the village can do.

Spoiler:
Naughty, naughty little children. Kurome studied the X-mark on the map located east of Kumogakure's outmost borders where the notorious eye-taggers were located. She had no idea what they wanted or why they were doing what they were doing, but she always admired their graffiti and artwork - yes, she considered them artwork. Jimmy tended to disagree with her at times about that subject, but both of them knew that the eye taggers were up to something if they were targeting Kumogakure. Although the guy was probably no more than a grunt, a fellow at the bottom of the totem pole, it was still worth bringing him in so that Kumogakure ANBU can mind-rape him. He goes by the name of "Brune", and is an expert Bukijutsu user, wielding a powerful pair of nunchucks known as Shoryuga ~ Twin Dragon Fangs. It could smash pieces of rocks apart. Course that did not matter to Kurome. She had Black Cold with her, and as a superior Bukijutsu master wielding a more formidable sword, she would slice that thing in half - twins apart forever. He seems to be surrounded by bodyguards, but they were all probably Genin-level. Plus, their HQ is located in a secluded place, allowing Kurome and Jimmy to go all out. Off they go....

Finally, Kurome and Jimmy arrived at a hut in the middle of the forest. This was somewhat disadvantageous to them, because since the forest was kinda thick, the rustling of leaves and bushes would alert those inside immediately. But the quirky girl had  a quirky stealth about her, so by doing things carefully and slowly, Kurome was able to make her way within two meters of the hut without making anything rustle. Although there was a flame instead, her silhouette won't reflect off on their fabric until she got a little closer. Jimmy was able to follow her as well, although Jimmy has always been quiet and sneaky. Just then there was a shuffling of feet at the entrance to the hut, and Kurome deduced that the were leaving. She held still, until all nine of them made it out of there. It was funny, especially if you were there to see it. One little girl with her friend watching the backs of nine clueless men.

"Hey!" Kurome cried out, alerting her presence to them. The nine men turned around abruptly, one of them half-way from fainting from how loud Kurome yelled in the middle of their sanctity. "I'm Kurome Makashi! Kumogakure's Number One Extra-Quirky Killer Girl! And here's.... Jimmehhhh!!" she cried out, introducing her best friend before them, She watched as Jimmy simply stood with stiff shoulders and looked kinda awkward, if not bored at Kurome's somewhat lame entrance. "What?" she asked. Jimmy seemed disinterested. "You didn't like it?" After she saw Jimmy's head shook, she replied, "Wel,, you're not gonna get another one!"

"Knock her out!" their leader cried out. Kurome reacted instantly as she bursted forward and slashed the arm of one soldier who only raised his arm just in time to defend himself. His arm lopped off, Kurome followed it with a stab in the calves. She wanted to aim only for the non-vitals, as although she was a killer girl who excelled at assassinating her opponents, she did not want to kill her opponents here. eventually, the group surrounded her while Kurome took the aim toc cut them down one by one. Ordinarily, Jimmy would be able to take them out at once. But for some reason, Jimmy simply stood back to back with her, only calling out who was coming at her from behind instead of helping her fight them off offensively. Did he want to preserve his power? Was there some unknown enemy lukring by? An enemy as strong as the Juubi possibly? Or perhaps the legendary Hagoromo? Indeed, if it were to come to it, Jimmy's power would be needed, so she understood where he was coming from. After hearing a shout that someone was coming from behind, Kurome rotated a full cirlce with such intensity like a whip that she sliced the incoming guy's nose clean off. After two minutes of non-lethal butchering, all of her enemies fell down to her. They looked formidable too, but it looks like looks aren't everything.

She concentrated on Brune now, who had taken out his Shoryuga nunchaku. "Hmph. Looks like I'm going to have to beat you into pieces" Brune said. 'Chop, chop, chop" Kurome replied, eyes all wide in a very psychopathic manner. If she were to use any of her more advanced kenjutsu techniques, she'd clearly kill him before she could make it back to the village. Therefore, she has to focus on that one attack - the blow that will end it all. As a master swordswoman, sh is very much capable of that. Judging Shoryuga's range, she was able to dodge all of its strikes, which were capable of splitting trees in half. Truly a formidable item. But while her hand was still on Black Cold, she channeled chakra through it, waiting for the right time to strike. eventually Kurome was able to see the attack coming at her, chains flying through the air, did she finally strike. Bringing down a downward slash, her chakra-enhanced blade was able to slice the chain right in half and continue to cut Brune righ tto his arm. Kurome immediately followed it with a thrust in the thigh, and then a swift elbow strike to the face in order to knock him out. Time to bring him in.

Spoiler:
Once again, she was on patrol duty. After it had been discovered that the scum she had been ambushed was part of a small rebel unit against the changing Kumogakure, border security was heightened. This was good as all of the paranoia was confirmed, so all the guards received pay raises! This means Jimmy and her can enjoy mountain ramen more frequently! She made it to the borders once more at the first post, with the same commander waiting for her.

"Miss Kurome Makashi. I've heard of your feat a few days ago. Nice job! We, the Kumogakure Patrol Force, are very proud to have you on this team. We expect great success to come from you, and we'll also be willing to write any future recommendations to the Raikage about your accomplishments, which made aid you when it comes to a promotion! Indeed, you may be S-rank in no time!"

Kurome's face brightened when she heard S-rank. The pinnacle of success in the village! Only two people are known for holding that title in each village, and that's the Kage himself and his ANBU Captain. Jounin and ANBU who wish to achieve that level of skill wold have to work on it themselves, and also achieve recognition from the Kage as a S-rank shinobi. And perhaps after that...Sannin! Kurome saluted to her commander. "Yessar!" she said, and began observing the surroundings with Jimmy. She could see that the first post was situated right above the main gates, so she could see all sorts of smaller mountains from the clouds. Vast mountain ranges, with peaks no different than the tip of straw hats in appearance. She could faintly make out rivers, and knew that civilian outposts and small ninja families lived near there to gather their own resources. But this geographical scenery could be seen anywhere in the outposts, and it was only the changes or movements that was how she found the little bugger before. She reported her findings to the officer, but the moment she mentioned the landscape that even Kumogakure children know about, she was dismissed to the second post. There was nothing to be seen here. There wasn't much different in the second post, but there was a lot more horsing around. Deprived of alcohol, the guards simply stoop to playing pranks on each other and making a vareity of racist and sexual jokes. Of course the racist remarks were almost a daily culture in Kumogakure, which has a remarkable cohesion between light-skins and the blasians. Nobody was truly offended, because if you were offended, you were considered an outcast of Kumogakure life. Kurome kept to herself - reserved, calm, and cool. She occupied herself with collecting information based on what she saw, as her hearing was frequently disturbed by her fellow peers. She didn't want to tell them to shut up and do their work, because she was quiet, perhaps shy, and weren't friends with them. She was further reassured by her only friend Jimmy, who insisted to her that she does not have to pay attention to them. She just kept to herself, and did good work. She later reported to her officer that she spotted a stray animal moving up the trail of a hill. It looked like a horse. Onto the third post, almost everything was perfect, except for a tree that had been suspiciously cut down. Or maybe she was paranoid. Either was equally plausible. Luckily the guards there were also attentive, so she was able to notice it quickly after she got there. On the fourth post, she saw the same scenery but also saw a bunch of Kumogakure ninja returning. She let the other border guards take care of it, and she'd act as backup. The ninjas appeared to not only recognize each other, but also are friendly with each other, so all was good. She reported this to the officer, outlining the apperanace and mannerisms of the entrants, as well as what they were carrying, and the officer concluded that there was nothing suspicious there to apprehend. Onto the fifth and last post of the day, where she'd give it her all. Now, she saw three shinobi with hats on their face. They were armed. Kurome had a suspicious vibe on her, and so did the other guards. They KNEW that they were hostiles. Five shinobi confronted them, asking them to halt and state their reason for visiting. Kurome had her hands on Black Cold, but it was too late. Two of the ninja had drawn their blades and displaying their Iaido expertise, were able to wound two of the ninja that confronted them, sending the entire border post on panic alert. Kurome dashed forward to try to blitz them. Clashing swords with one of the bandits, she was able to notice that the wounds were not fatal, so they weren't cut down. This relieved Kurome, as she quickly disarmed the man from his sword and then knocked him right in the jaw with the bottom of her handle, neutralizing him.

While the other border guards were busy subjugating one intruder, she found herself at odds with the third hostile. Skilled at dodging, Kurome found herself evading knives thrown at her at Taijutsu Mastery speeds. She was able to evade them with the most minute movements, focusing her senses on voluntary reactions rather than involuntary responses as reflex could cause her her life. With that, once the last of the man's thirty knives were thrown, Kurome went in for the kill! "Kissaki!" she executed as she poked the guy full of holes in the stomach, nearly killing him. Luckily the border guards were around to pick the guy up, and escort the wounded man as well as others out of there, to be further questioned by the ANBU Black Ops. She drained the blood from her sword in a nearby river, disregarding the consequences it may present to the life living there nad the people drinking from it. PErhaps the reddish, metallic "tint" won't bother them too much. It had been a good day's work.

Spoiler:
Once again, more soldiers were positioned both in and around the construction sites for the Great Wall. This was an important project, and given the recent incidents of opposers attacking workers, security had to be strengthened and troops were trained to react in a proficient manner. This means that if you see someone suspicious, even in worker uniform, you have to ask them a few questions, and if they continue to be suspicious, take them aside and detain them until their profile can be reviewed. This may cause innocent workers great stress and dismay, but assure them that if even if they didn't do anything for the day, they'd still be paid. In all perspective, this may not be efficient, but it is a militant stance against the insurgents. So kurome was positioned with a bunch of other kunoichi and Jimmy at the bottom floor of the construction site. The first wall was about 90% built, and they'd probably have it up in a few weeks. With the first wall's completion, the hopes of the village would be raised to an even greater extent. It was imperative that the first effort would succeed, or the entire thing would collapse, both literally and figuratively. The project won't even be attempted until like, next century or something.

"I hope that they color it blue" Kurome said, conversing with Jimmy. "Why? Because blue is the color of the sky, and we're right in the clouds, so it'd be beautiful and blending if we color the walls like tha- well, I don't think it's lame, Jimmy. Hehez. You're always so pessimistic. Hm? That's not how you use the word, pessimistic? hm... the more you know every day. Ah! Maybe red would work..."

She got into a light argument with Jimmy which attracted the attention of her fellow guards, and thus kept them away from Kurome. "I am a little teapot, short and smart. Hm? Those aren't the lyrics? Wow..." she said. She went over to a worker. She had always been encouraged by Jimmy to go out and talk to people to get to know them better. "Hi" she said. The worker turned around, to see the quirky Kurome look at him. The way her eyes looked just weren't right, but the guy was friendly. "Hi there, just getting a hammer and a nail". Kurome nodded. "I hope all of you can write your names on the wall somewhere so that people can know that you helped with it". The man roared with laughter. "Miss, there are going to be millions of workers who helped built this by the time it's done. Nobody's ever gonna know our name, nor care". "Pessimistic!" Kurome shouted, pointing a finger at the man, but then she retracted it after hearing Jimmy call out to her that that wasn't the way to use the word and pointing was rude. "I mean... have a brighter outlook on life!" she said, which earned a bit more approval from her friend.

The man sighed and simply nodded. Kurome looked to the side and saw a black and white worker pair conversing. "Mhm.... there are many from the ghetto who like this job here huh..." she said. "Hey! Cut that out, that's racist. I'm gonna move away now.." the man grunted. But Kurome had already taken out Black Cold the moment the man passed by her. "Oi.... racism... does not exist in Kumogakure!" she said as the sound of her blade rang against the concrete floor. Only those outside of Kumogakure culture would be affected by her little remark. The man, who was actually one of the rebels in disguise, caught on to the fact that he was suspected, turned and threw a nail right at Kurome's head. Kurome was able to block it with Black Cold, but Kurome could see that the man was running towards another worker. "Oh noes you dontz!" she said chasing after him.

The man had slammed his hammer right on the back of a worker's head, preventing the worker from working on a half-finished wooden foundation that was one of the important pieces of the first floor plan work. He was able to hit the foundation once before Kurome kicked him away. Dropping the hammer, the man performed a few handseals. "Ninja Art! Substitution Technique!" he called out. Nothing happened. He..... can't control his chakra.. Kurome thought. "Hehez... Jimmy says you're an Academy scrub". The man threw hammers all over at Kurome, who used her katana to slice them apart. "Desperate, desperate", before lunging forward and stabbing the man right in the rib. She followed it with swift cuts to the legs, and she was able to get on top of the man and get him in a headlock- an arm wrapped around his neck in order to strangle him. He had a big head, so Kurome had to repeatedly hit it to try to crack his skull a little. AFter thirty seconds of sturglging, Kurome was able to successfully subdue the man.

After she had done away with him, she spotted another worker man picking up a hammer and running over to where the foundation was, taking over his fallen comrade's unfinished work. A few more smashes and the thing will fall, causing catasprophe for the entire structure. Kurome looked to see if there was anything she could use, and there sure was. She picked up a nail and observed its ridged structure and looked at its sharp tip. Her Bukijutsu mastery has given her excellent senses in sight, accuracy, and throwing speed. Like a dart, she is able to apply this to the nail that she had in hand. She threw it and the projectile spun through the air, piercing it as slight vestiges passed right behind it, until it hit the guy right in the back of the neck. The man fell, and it looks like Kurome succeded in taking out two insurgents. Workers hid behind their post and just looked about, observing each other's faces as if they were the next culprit... to be struck down by the village's Number One Quirky Killer Girl! Kurome had Black Cold out and placed herself in the center near the foundation. Anyone who came near her would be stabbed, including innocent civilian workers. "I'm Kumogakure's Number One Extra Quirky Killer Girl! Kurome Makashi! Don't cross my path!" A loud, thunderous clapping came as Kurome as enjoyed the praise and appraise from those who appreciate her work. Jimmy sure could clap very loudly.
