Looks Description: Sanenki, unlike the canon Hokage Kakashi Hatake, wore his headband not over his dojutsu, but on his forehead. The boy felt like it was an improper thing to not wear the headband in the appropriate spot on a person's body. However, he did still cover up his eye with a metal, hand-made eye patch, similar to the canon shinobi Ao, also possessing the Byakugan. This didn't cover his Byakugan's presence completely, however; the veins of his eye's activation could still be seen protruding from the eye socket, giving away it's presence to an observing opponent. He had once, even, cut himself deep enough to scar his face, intending to make it look like he lost his right eye when he infact did not. This was, like the eye patch, a tactic to make people not pay too attention to his right eye. He has an almost snake-ish Anbu mask when on missions, or meeting with the Hokage, identifying with it due to his clan and other character traits. If he had to choose, he would consider him a rather rare snake, one capable of acidifying and digesting it's scarred prey.
In his tight fitting, dark Anbu and jōnin clothing, Sanenki's upper-body build was shown quite visibly. He made sure that opponent's knew he wasn't some weakling, and took great pride in taking care of his body - despite not going to other people quite often. The most noticeable thing about his upper-body, besides muscles, self-injury scars, and clan tattoo, was possibly the kanji tattooed to his naval area, upside down. "The Promise," it said to him, whenever he read it. The Promise to make his parents proud. The Promise to continue their legacy. The Promise to himself.
Scattered over his arms were nothing but scars and seals. The scars, again, from self-injury - mostly from the loss of his parents at an early age. However, the seals were much more recent, made to connect Sanenki instantly to many of his favorite tools, such a Senbon, Kunais, Shurikens, Scalpels, and so forth. They were so that Sanenki could have his own fun in combat, and use what he needed the moment he needed them. His arms were otherwise clean, nothing else of notice located on him, aside from the tight-fitting, dark clothes he wore for either occasion.
The legs were kept hairless, not wanting to really leave a trace on missions, or otherwise. He didn't scar his legs at all, however he did tattoo in kanji the phrase "The End" and "When A Good Man Goes To War." They were phrases he believed iconicized him, and showed what he is. He is the result of when a good man goes to war. The pain. The anger. The frustration. All of it. War, violence, and anger do that to people. They did it to him. But, he is the end, as well. When people see defeat from him, they merely lie there, dying on the cold hard brown, seeing nothing but his shadowy face. He is The End.
He is usually seen as a mysterious fellow, not really talking to anyone in particular. His dark clothes, and shady visage don't exactly help his unsociable attitude. However, people respect him because of his respect for others, knowing especially that he is an esteemed shinobi by his appearance, most notably with his headband, which has scratches on it. The scratches, while unimportant, help to the suggest to people he's had much combat experience, and is definitely one you shouldn't take so lightly. After all, if you take a member of the Anbu Black Ops lightly, you'll end up bloody like the rest of Sanenki's targets, who just become spilt blood on his mask.
Personality Description: Early on, words like kind, caring and compassionate were common compliments for Sanenki. He was never too violent, or greedy, nor any similar negative terms. He was a bright, positive boy who only the good in people - and similar things that all young boys had.
As time went on, he was more of the reclusive type, not displaying any particular emotions, like the happiness he had years prior. Especially right after his parents were killed, the poor boy was only filled with anger and hate, which he luckily maintained. As a genin, he was quite violent when doing combat on missions, often resulting in unnecessary damage done to their targets. Hell, he even killed a genin during his first run in the Chūnin Exams, showing his great anger and frustration.
As a chūnin, however, he had learned to control his anger, using less of it in fights with fellow shinobi of his village. However, he couldn't help but use it on people outside the village. His violence and hatred from that memory manifested into an almost justice-based persona forming inside him. The persona believed in killing those guilty, such as the Anbu member he himself blamed for not saving his parents. Therefore, that became a pivotal part of his personality and character.
As a jōnin, Sanenki had a strong focus on duty and honor at a slightly stronger level than when he was a chūnin. He usually had composure and a greater sense of child-like kindness when he was a jōnin. He did, however, have a spike of anger and rage in his personality following up to the invasion he assisted with stopping. However, he displayed an immediate change of focus and command in the battle between him and the man whom killed his parents, displaying his matured, tactical fighting style.
As an Anbu-member, he is silent, stealthy, and smart when it comes to his actions. He does not do stupid things, or make himself look like a moron. On the other hand, he still has spouts of anger when time allows it, and he from time-to-time gets emotional enough to break protocol. Despite that, he usually will stick to his instructions, and stay on the proper path.

History: Born to a rare disposition, Sanenki was the child of a full-blooded Hyūga and Ikimonogaku clan member, the latter of which possessed a bit of Hyūga blood within their genetics. As a result of this combination, the full-blooded Hyūga passed down a dominant gene for the Byakugan, while the other parent, with partial Hyūga blood, passed down a recessive gene for the Byakugan. Due to this, Sanenki's was astonished to find a Byakugan in his right eye. Although it cannot see chakra points as effectively, and leaves him unable to use palm-techniques, Sanenki saw it as a precious gift from his parents.
Senenki had a typical childhood early-on. He had loving parents, got along with his relatives and neighbors, and had a bright disposition. There didn't seem to be too much that could spell bad things for this child. When it came to his studies, he excelled quite a bit as chakra manipulation, being of vast importance for his journey into mastering the Academic ninjutsu he was taught. This was also the time when his parents had introduced him to the understanding of the human body, and the biological world around them. After all, if he was going to learn techniques post-graduation, he was going to need to understand how the world worked - knowledge was... and not to sound corny... power!
When graduation finally arrived, Sanenki waited rather proudly at the ceremony, hoping his parents would hurry on their way. However, after not seeing them arrive, he was met abruptly at his home by a nearby Jonin, informing him that his parents were sent off on a mission at the last minute. After days passed, he was met by a masked Anbu at the door, whom carried two blood-soaked masks, dropping them infront of the doorway. All he said to Sanenki was "I'm sorry," and kept repeating that same phrase repeatedly before disappearing with the wind. Picking up on the message, the boy merely went into a panic, and nearly cracked under the reality that his parents were killed. On that day, his Byakugan eye awakened, and his goal to find the truth was spawned.
Sanenki, often seen with his Byakugan activated during squad training, had grown unsociable, as well as disliked by the community. Similar to the Jinchuuriki, that which made him different made him appear like a beast to many villagers - a freak, even. Although not everyone felt that way, it drove Sanenki mad, wishing death upon all those who dare questioned his abilities or made him a monster. While going a bit insane, he had decided to pull a move similar to Ao, keeping it covered so that he appeared like there was nothing there - while the opposite was correct. As it continued, Sanenki was able to retrieve scrolls from his parents' room, studying and teaching himself the techniques his parents meant to teach him before they died. He was living by himself, choosing to be alone rather than fake parents; he didn't want to besmirch their memory, after all.
As he grew stronger as a genin, Sanenki's sociopathic tendencies became ever more clear to him, as he often used more than the required violence on missions and battles. As a result, he meditated quite often, working on ways for redirecting his sociopathy that could help him out. As a result, he was even more unsocial, and kept to himself even during training - he couldn't let his grip on himself slip.
After several successful missions, Sanenki found himself taking the Chūnin exams, a pivotal challenge in his life. He had never truly battled opponents of his age and power level, so this was somewhat of an obstacle. However, he did remarkably well thanks to his ace - his hidden Byakugan - which allowed him to surprise and effectively take down his opponents with a degree of ease. Though, he was held as a genin because of one specific incident; it seemed that Sanenki, due to an opponent pushing his buttons way too strongly, killed his opponent in cold blood. Knowing the consequences of being a shinobi/kunoichi, the village merely disqualified him from promotion, rather than treat him like a criminal for killing in the exams. However, as of the following exams, he was able to pass by resisting the urge to beat the day lights out of his more annoying opponents. He was a chūnin.
As a chunin, Sanenki regrettably decided to spend his first few years seeking answers as to his parents death. From the day their masks were dropped on his door, the boy knew he would have to do something in the manner of avenging them. After all, the whole reason he became so twisted was because of that hatred for the people who killed his parents. He did a lot of spy work, working his way into locating files on the past Ops of the deceased Anbu members; it wasn't easy, of course, as Konoha had gotten more uptight with it's privacy in the recent years.
The files Sanenki managed to uncover led him to the man behind the mask - the one who visited him the day he obtained his Byakugan. Finding the man's real name on file, Sanenki went to his home, and forced his way in overnight. When he found the man sound asleep, he had tied the man to his bed, and had gotten to work, preparing for the man's rude awakening.
The Anbu had been sworn to secrecy, so the man refused to answer Sanenki's questions initially. Therefore, the truth-seeker had begun to than torture the Anbu member, trying to force the answers out of him. Force didn't work too well. Unsure of what to do, he immediately remembered the man's apologetic fit on the day the Anbu came to his house. Than, he knew what he had to do. Smirking confidently, he used the Anbu's guilt to get him to talk, which working quite effectively for Sanenki.
Several years earlier, Sanenki's parents had been given the mission of terminating a camp of Missing-Nin located not too far outside of Konoha's gate. The members of it were thought to be easy game; there wasn't supposed to be much of a risk from assassinating them. However, they underestimated the danger the Missing-Nin posed, and were killed during the invasion of the camp. According to the Anbu, his parents' killer was last seen fleeing the encampment, the Anbu and that Missing-Nin being the only survivors of the invasion.
With a click of the wrist, he successively slit the Anbu's vulnerable throat, killing him via the jugular vein. He considered it both justice and mercy; the Anbu clearly felt strong guilt over it, and Sanenki also agreed that there was more the Anbu survivor could've done - his mother and father could still be alive. He didn't know the Missing-Nin's name, but he was damn sure going to do his parents proud: he was going to be an Anbu member.
Throughout the passing years, he went on increasingly difficult missions, spent days working improving the sight of his singular Byakugan eye, and honing the quick usage of his pH-manipulating techniques. He wasn't just going to make his parents; no, he was going to make the clan proud as well. All of this training would greatly help him when it comes to the future - especially the upcoming Jonin Exams when he reached age 17.
The Jōnin Examination was something of rather large difficulty, being that it required him to face off against two local jōnins at the same time. Jōnins were not some easy win, like a genin might be (at his rank, at least); they were like elites compared to your typical chūnin. Yes, a chūnin like Sanenki would be an easy challenge. The jōnins turned out to be his squad captain from his time as a genin, and his former academy school teacher, whom recently got promoted to being a jōnin.
After wishing him the best of luck, the jōnins immediately begun a string of tactics, the newly-made jōnin activating his previously-hidden Sharingan, both eyes showing the second tomoe, leaving Sanenki a bit concerned. He had never fought an Uchiha, so taking down someone capable of copying techniques or reading movements was something critical to him. His former teacher had immediately become his first target. His previous sensei, however, had turned out to be a man from the Nara clan, as he had begun using the Kagemane No Jutsu (Shadow Imitation Technique) right from the get-go.
Dodging the initial attacks, Sanenki played it safe by utilizing the Kirigakure No Jutsu (Hiding in Mist Technique), which he learned during some time in the Hidden Mist, also learning more about his clan's origins from the source. He used the technique specifically for it's advantage against Sharingan, which was that the Byakugan could see through it, while the Sharingan just saw a mass of Sanenki's chakra. Instant reduction of sight for everyone but him. Clever, no?
After distancing himself from the encroaching mist, he had used his Acidity +1 technique, which used the moisture in the mist to acidify it the large area. As a result, his opponent's received large-scale damage to their bodies, damaging them decently, allowing him to fuck up those Sharingan eyes pretty nicely. When they had escaped, he met them with his Back Hand technique, grasping them by the throat and continuing to acidify their necks, only to throw them back in the lethal mist for a few moments before he released them. Due to his effectiveness in the hostile situation, he ranked up to a jōnin status, though was often referred to as a Special jōnin, particularly for his combat abilities.
Sanenki was a Jōnin now, and could finally be quite closer to following the same path as his parents. He could actually be a member of the Anbu some day soon. He, however, less than willingly, began to organize a genin squad for about eighteen-months, training and doing missions with them. He was in his sensei's shoes now, taking care of these kids so they could take the chūnin exams, and eventually make something of their lives like he did. Sadly, it was cut short when he was nearing his nineteenth birthday, due to a war peaking with an invasion of the village.
They were targets unknown, appearing to be a rather huge band of lone, rogue shinobi, ganging up on the leaf. He had his squad suspended as he went out to aid in the defense, often blocking strikes nearest to the Hokage, keeping the village leader safe from harm. At one point, he managed to scout out the leader of the attackers, remembering something from the files he stole years ago. It was about his parents, their mission, and whom they were going to kill near the outskirts of Konoha. When he saw the invasion's leaders, he knew immediately whom it was: the same man who killed his parents.
Try to kill us off? He said. Than, I hope you're ready for the consequences! He finished. Of all the ironies, Sanenki could only laugh out loud to himself, finding the whole situation hilarious. He, who desired nothing but vengeance on his parents' killer, found the killer wanted solely revenge on the village for nearly killing him. It was hilarious, it really was. The part of him that wanted revenge truly died that day, along with most of his sociopathic desires; he just wanted to honor their memory now. "Hey!" Sanenki shouted, gathering the leader's attention as his fellow shinobi and kunoichi either fought or tended to those hurt in the invasion.
The leader somewhat recognized him, remembering killing Sanenki's parents all those years ago. The mind of a killer, it never really forgets the victims. Especially when there's a held grudge. I knew they had a brat! The leader exclaimed, grinning. He was ready to slice holes in Sanenki, wielding senbon wired to his fingers as a long-range weapon. Sanenki was unimpressed.
He had much worse challenges before, so he appropriately treated his opponent like he was trash. However, his opponent for the longest time had thought that he had, like his parents before him, underestimated his opponent. Fortunately, the opposite could be said for Sanenki; he knew full-well the power of his opponent - he just lacked an impressment at the leader's power. He had used, like his Jōnin Exams, the Kirigakure No Jutsu, blinding his opponent from seeing his movements.
He had made strides to close the gap, making good use of the body flicker as he got in the leader's face. However, anticipating an attack, he allowed the leader to make faulty lunges with his wired-senbon, letting him swing them around. The plan, which succeeded well, was for him to whip his wired-senbon around in such a manner that would cause them to tightly wrap around his body. When it worked, he pushed the leader of the roof he was perched on, and broke the leader's hand after landing down there with him.
Sanenki than made a small incision within the leader's gut, using his clan's ability to make the leader's blood acidic, so that when it entered his heart it destroyed it in mere moments. When it all finished, he dropped the mist, and carried the body off, returning to let the Hokage know that he took out the mastermind behind the whole invasion. With his excellent work, however, the Hokage privileged him with a job working as an Anbu member.
RP Sample: For my sample, here's a 715-word chapter for a Once Upon A Time/Frozen fanfiction I've been working on.
- Spoiler:
“Mother! I told you, I’m fine!” A girl shouted, holding firmly onto her enlarged stomach. The girl had walked into her chambers, her parents following shortly after her. “Autumn, you know, ever since you were born we’ve been doing our best to protect you – something we weren’t able to do for your sister, Emma,” the father, formerly Prince Charming, had said. They looked at their daughter with the purest of smiles, only wanting to help the beautiful girl they were lucky enough to raise. Autumn’s mother, Snow White, now the queen of her kingdom, looked down, the returning memories of how she lost Emma not being the best for her mood. She took Autumn by the hand, pressing it to her belly, smiling: “Did you do some kind of spell to determine what it’s going to be?” Autumn shook her head, prompting a smile from Charming; not knowing seemed much more adventurous to him.
Snow White eagerly led her daughter, sitting her down on her bed, a smile across her lips. She was so happy for Autumn; it’s what she always wanted: to be there for her child when they needed it most, something she couldn’t do for Emma. Oh, the pain of that memory haunted Snow every single moment, a reminder of how history ruined her first chance at happiness as a mother. “So, where’s the father?” Snow asked, referring to Autumn’s husband, Prince Thomas, who came from a nearby kingdom. Autumn smiled, caressing her pregnant-belly, thinking fondly of her beloved. “Oh, Tommy… He had official business to take care of, but he said he’d be back soon,” Autumn said, carefully leaning her body up. She stood up on wobbly feet, still not used to having this extra load to mess up her balance. As much as she liked her father’s lessons, she wasn’t cut out for any impressive feats in this condition.
“I’m not popping yet, though, mom… I’m not in the mood to just lie down,” she said, smirking back at her before leaving her chambers. The queen laughed softly, looking at Charming as he stood next her, sitting down with his wife. “Well, she’s definitely your daughter,” Snow said jokingly, leaning onto his shoulder with a sigh. “What are we going to do, Charming? You remember the trouble our children have caused – because of us! We need to find a way to keep her safe – Autumn and her baby – we owe it to them not to drag them back into our problems, or enemies.” Snow stated, speaking quite convincingly to her true love. Charming certainly agreed; after Zelena and Regina, they needed to take precaution to protect their daughter and her unborn child. “I think we’ll need to pay a visit to an old friend, if this is to happen,” Charming said. The gaze he had given Snow pretty much told her exactly who he was referring to – the one person who could do the deed better than anyone else they knew or faced.
Meanwhile, Autumn had begun to think more about her distant sister as a result of that little talk with her parents. She didn’t exactly know her sister Emma, since the second dark curse was over, and her parents were sent back to the Enchanted Forest when Autumn was still an infant. So, the sister got a bit emotional and upset as a result, sobbing softly, deeply hoping she could meet her sister one day. Not only that, Autumn was hoping Emma was happy, and well, despite being away from her true family – Snow, Charming, and even the other Storybrooke citizens who acted like family as a result of their torment.
Autumn did believe her sister was alright though; her parents had mentioned that Regina stayed in the so-called ‘Land Without Magic’ to look after her nephew Henry with Emma. For someone called the ‘Evil Queen’, Regina hadn’t seemed so bad to Autumn, whom seemed to have a bit better, or worse, judgment than her loving parents. Autumn sighed to herself, wiping a tear from her eye, trying to think of her future life, and let the thoughts of Emma go to rest for now. She had to be all smiles to announce her pregnancy to the kingdom, especially since it wouldn’t be too long before she pops.
