Personality Description: Emi, an exceptionally stoic and composed individual, takes a logical and pragmatic approach to life. She's brutal and blunt when speaking, her tone a bit condescending and sarcastic, though it's not something she realizes. She's neither a pessimist or a optimist, walking the fine line in-between the two terms. Her lack of a conscience makes her unable to distinguish between right and wrong, and leaves her unable to feel remorse and guilt, or empathy and sympathy. Thus leaving her able to kill people without worrying if she'll be overtaken by guilt and remorse, or won't kill because of sympathy and empathy.
Emi is one that isn't angered or upset easily, making her a placid person. She's relaxed and calm in any situation, an air of nonchalance surrounding her. Her intelligence is displayed in her actions and manner of speaking, presenting maturity not expected from someone her age. She's not one to use crude language, finding it to be rude and lowers the maturity of the one using it. Her tranquil personality is something that attracts specific people, but the way she leaves her opponents in a bloody mess can turn some people away. She's not one to judge people since she would dislike being judged herself. Her way of dealing with problems is to 'eliminate' them, how she does this is known only to herself.
Emi is a shrewd person, never doing anything without a good reason. She's very observant, and able to exploit her opponents weakness by watching them. Her eidetic mind doesn't allow her to forget anything, so she's able to recall things in great detail. She does slice the head off a dead opponent, insuring that they won't be resurrected so easily. She may even burn the body of the dead opponent.
Emi has a rather twisted sense of humor that borders on being sick. She finds things funny that other would find disturbing. Her face is always graced by a smile, never being replaced by a frown. She does tend to smile during inappropriate times, like funerals, but does it regardless. Her way of introducing herself is by the name 'Washi', a name generally used by older men. She has the habit of referring to herself in the third person out of the blue sky, but quickly corrects herself when she notices.
Emi can be aloof and apathetic towards people. But she can also be very friendly and kind when she feels like it. She does like to joke around and have fun. She likes to hang out with children her own age. And she likes to help people with stuff. But that rarely shines through since she prefers to keep the attitude that she thinks is associated with being a Shinobi and a Jinchuuriki. Even if it makes her lonely.
Likes: Kenjutsu, Dango, Sweets, and training.
Dislikes: Being lonely, Arrogant/ignorant indviduals, sour food, and nuisance.
Catch Phrases:
“Your arrogance will get you killed. And your death would be a waste of potential.”
“I pity the stupid more than I pity the weak. The weak can become strong, but the stupid are doomed to remain stupid.”
“I have no problem with killing people, due to my lack of a conscience. That special thing that can make you feel guilty, and tells you what’s right and what’s wrong.”
“Peace is only an illusion constructed by people to delude themselves into thinking that they aren’t at war.”

History:
- ~Before the Academy:
"Can you tell me about mommy again."
"Will that get you to go to bed?"
"Yes!"
"Okay than," said Zasshu, collapsing into the chair set next to his daughter's bed. With eyes closed, he began to recall the memories that he had of his deceased wife. A smile spread across his face as he opened his eyes, staring kindly at his three-year-old.
Emi waited in anticipation, always getting her father to tell her about the mother she never got to meet. Covers were gripped in her tiny hands, her blue eyes shone in the small light the lamp was able to give off. She smiled up at her father, the man that was taking care of her and teaching her Kenjutsu. She loved him very much, and she knew he loved her as well.
"Your mother was a young woman with short black hair, beautiful blue eyes, and pale skin. She was very tall, taller than me by a inch or two. Her laugh was something that made everyone else laugh, but she never knew that they were laughing at her laugh rather than the joke. She was very impulsive and quick to anger, but she forgave all offenders. She was a very strong Shinobi, someone who was easily feared for her Kenjutsu and Taijutsu skills. Her name was Akina Kugo and I had the pleasure of knowing her for ten years," Zasshu said, his eyes distant as he recalled the information. "She was happy when we were married and even happier when she found out that she was pregnant with you. But she sensed that she would be unable to see you grow up, so she crafted a katana just for you as a memento."
Emi watched as her father's expression sadden, he having stopped speaking. She was use to her father getting sad at this part of the story, and she didn't like to see him sad. But she liked hearing the story to much to stop asking her father to tell it. Even though she could remember everything he said, she found much better when her father told it.
"She died after giving birth to you. But she died happy and knowing that she gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl, though you were born prematurely," Zasshu continued, eyes looking down at Emi.
"I gonna be Shinobi just like mommy," Emi exclaimed, her eyes twinkling. That was a dream of hers, to become just a powerful Shinobi just like her mother. One feared for her Kenjutsu and Taijutsu, but she would also be feared for her Ninjutsu. It was the reason she trained so hard with her father, giving her all no matter what. She was one to train until she couldn't move anymore, and would keep doing it as long as she progressed in her skills.
"I know you will," Zasshu said, giving Emi a kiss on her forehead. "Bed time now," he said, making his way to the door. He waited until Emi was settled in, smiling kindly as he turned the light off. "Night princess," he said, closing the door behind him.
With the door shut, Zasshu stood in front of it for a while. His hands clenched tightly, his eyes gazing at the floor. There was a part to the story he hadn't told Emi yet, but he didn't think she was ready to hear it. He didn't know how she would react to the news that she was a Jinchuuriki to the Nine-tailed Bear. Zasshu had a feeling that it wasn't that Emi was not ready to hear that she was a Jinchuuriki. More like he didn't really want to admit to himself that his daughter housed a Biju.
Zasshu stood in front of the door for a couple minutes before making his way to his own room. Making sure the lights were turned off before settling into his bed. Maybe he would tell her before she entered the academy, that seemed to be the best time. She would be eight by than, and he should be ready by than. With that plan in mind, Zasshu shut his eyes and drifted into sleep.
~
"Just a bit higher," Zasshu shouted, watching as Emi swung her sword for the hundredth time that day. She had come a long way during the four years. She had actually become better than him when it came to Kenjutsu and Taijutsu, but she needed to work on her Genjutsu and her Ninjutsu was fair at best. Yet he couldn't deny that Emi was just like her mother in both appearance and abilities.
"Done!" Emi shouted, resheathing Shinkoki, the katana crafted by her mother. A couple years ago her arms would be in pain from the many swings she had to do, but she was now use to such things so it didn't hurt anymore. Her legs carried her over to Zasshu, her icy eyes staring into his gray.
"Good job. Now how about-"
"Daddy. It's my birthday, we should do something fun!" Emi interjected, crossing her arms. "Don't tell me you forgot," she said, standing on her tip-toes in order to gain so height.
A nervous laugh escaped Zasshu's lips, he rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Of course not!" he said, waving his hand dismissively as he leaned back. He actually did forget it was Emi's birthday, but she didn't need to know that.
"Than what do you have planned," Emi asked, not buying it for a second. Her father had this condition where he forgot the birthday of everyone, friends and family alike. His expression always gave it away, no matter how much he tried to hide it.
"Uh… um…" was the response, Zasshu's brain reeling with what he should do. "We're gonna go get Dango!" he finally exclaimed. That should work since he could tell her the little secret he had been keeping from her over a nice sugary treat.
Emi's eyes lit up. "Really!" she asked, drool escaping from the corner of her mouth. Zasshu nodded in reply, glad that the sugar crazy eight-year-old was easily fooled.
"Lets head over there now!" Zasshu stated, receiving a nod from Emi. The two departed for the nearest Dango shop, Emi humming a tone to herself. Once they arrived, the order was placed for several different type of Dango which was given to them before they took a seat outside.
Emi happily munched on the Dango. Zasshu to munched on the Dango, though not as enthusiastically as Emi. He was thinking about how he should tell her, but nothing came to mind. So getting straight to the point would work.
"Emi? I have something I want to tell you," Zasshu said, swallowing what was in his mouth. He didn't get a ply for her, but he knew she was listening. "Um… You're a Jin-"
"A Jinchuuriki for the Nine-tailed Bear," Emi said, eyes looking at Zasshu. "I already know. I heard you and someone else talking bout it."
Zasshu blinked a couple of times, before sighing in relief. "Are you mad I didn't tell you?"
"No. You were waiting," Emi said, finishing off the last of the Dango. "It's not something you would know how to tell your kid," she said, placing the stick down. "So I understand."
Zasshu eyes filled with tears, something he never would admit, and embraced his daughter. The two stayed like that for a while, before deciding to finish off the food and going home.
- ~The Academy:
- "I'm sorry, but your father died on his recent mission."
"That's alright. He always told me there was a possibility that he wouldn't return."
"You could skip class today if you need time to mourn."
"No. I'm quite alright."
"But I insist."
"I swear I'm fine. I'll be going to class now."
"…Okay."
That was the conversation exchanged between Emi and Hotura. Emi walked down the hall towards her classroom, a room she shared with students three years her senior. The ten-year-old stalked towards her seat, and slid in. There she awaited for Hitomi, the homeroom teacher.
Emi tuned out the conversation being held by the older kids, not one to socialize with them. She had been focused on graduating, therefor had no time to make friends. But now she wished she had socialized with at least one person in the entire classroom. Yet she couldn't go back in change history.
The lesson started once the teacher arrived, the class growing very quiet. Emi turned her focus to the lesson, shoving the death of her father to the back of her mind.
The funeral would be held two days later.
~
Emi hovered over the tombstone that marked where her father laid. Her eyes sadden, but a smile on her face. She crouched down, placing flowers on the grave along with some incense. She was now twelve and a Genin fresh out of the academy. She had come to visit her father, to tell him that she was now a Genin.
Emi got up ten minutes later, bidding Zasshu farewell before going home.
