The night before Sanroku and a few other shinobi were given the notice that the Raikage is trying to be impressed with his fellow shinobi. So the Raikage created a mission in which participants are to create custom jutsus and show it to him with reward given no matter how mediocre it is, as long as it is useful in battle. Sanroku listened as a few shinobi aleady had plans and are beginning to train as soon as the Raikage stops speaking. But Sanroku left home and rested, thinking that this mission wasn’t necessarily for him.
With a change of heart, Sanroku woke up this morning determined to learn a new jutsu, although learning a new jutsu is not as easy as it sounds since first, one must think of a concept behind the jutsu. Jutsus have a variety of different types of ways of going about them. Sanroku has a lot to choose from but his choices are slim due to his lack of finding his elemental affinity. Even though Sanroku lacks elemental powers, he still has great abilities elsewhere like in his shurikenjutsu fighting style. Sanroku here thought about what it is his jutsu should be, when it was right under his nose the whole time. The technique should revolve around shurikenjutsu. It is non-elemental and although Sanroku is a Master in the field of Ninjutsu, this technique will need no chakra infused into it, but luckily he is a well versed in the art of weaponry as well. Sanroku now contemplated the idea of his jutsu being either offensive or defensive? But honestly speaking, Sanroku has more than enough offensive techniques. So this decision came fairly easy to Akuma, as Akuma decided to train a defensive technique to see how that will turn out in defending him in battle. The young genin decided to take his time outside of Kumogakure is order to better think about his situation. It looks like Sanroku is thinking about creating a defensive technique using his shurikenjutsu technique, but there is only so much a shinobi can do to defend himself using such a technique. Sanroku had the chance to throw the shuriken at the said attack in order to block against it, but that will mean Sanroku will have to lose a shuriken, kunai, or any other small handheld weapon for no reason. Then, the brilliant idea came to Sanroku. Akuma is not to use any weapon in his defensive maneuvering, but instead he will block it by another mean. The young shinobi decided to walk the training grounds in order to see people training. Akuma was hoping to be sparked by some inspiration here. As he watched, he noticed what he always knew, and that is that Kumogakure has too much swordsmen. But it is alright, Sanroku had to look deeper into the training grounds in order to see if anyone uses the shurienjutsu around there. Sanroku walked around the whole training ground and found zero shurikenjutsu proficient shinobi, thus leading Sanroku to believe that other than his family, they may be the only true shurikenjutsu fighting style – type of shinobi.
Sanroku then went on his own to think about a defensive technique but before leaving the training field he noticed a shinobi throw a kunai and the target shinobi jump back to defend against it. That is perfect. How about a defensive technique designed to deflect kunais if they are thrown at you directly. Sanroku would call this technique the Redirection Technique and it will be detailed to have the user simply use their innate ability of having great dexterity, speed and accuracy when handling a weapon by being a weapons specialist, to the point that they predetermine where a handheld weapon will land once thrown. With this technique, the user is able to deflect a maximum of 3 kunai. This technique can be used multiple times in succession if the user is skilled enough as a bukijutsu specialist. It is decided, the jutsu is thought of and now the only thing left is to train the technique. Sanroku Akuma was already in the training ground so might as well stay there and train the newest technique he learned.
