It's the most wonderful time of the year! The air is crisper, the days are shorter and the even the hot Sunagakure sun is lightening its load. The smell of fresh baked sweets and the glow of cheery faces lights up the town as you walk by. People are happy and filled with cheer. Yes you guessed it, it's the Harvest Festival! Fresh food is abound in this wonderful gathering of farmers from throughout the Land of Wind. The shops are stocked to the brim with newly harvested fruits and veggies. Freshly cooked baked goods fill the air with that oh-so-sweet aroma. Even a few people from other nations come to bring their goods. The Sand is known for its name, sand, and as such doesn't see much fresh produce. The days go by with stale noodles, dried fruits, and cured hams. That's why this festival is the highlight for many of Sunagakure's denizens. The chance to fire up your taste buds is too good an offer to pass up for most.

Kou was just like everyone else in the village. Walking down the streets and letting all the smells warmly hug his senses. Ribbons and streamers, lights and music, cheer and fun, 'gosh, I do love this time of year' Kou thought. Hands in his pockets and eyes in motion, he couldn't get enough of today. Even through all the chaos, today was peaceful, and Kou can get behind peaceful. The dusty cracked sandstone streets and buildings did not contrast well with the vibrant colourful food stands set up along the street, though. Then again, it could be argued that it contrasted very well; giving a bleak backdrop to a magical festival made it seem even grander. It was just about high noon and the sun was blazing. Summer still hadn't quite left and Kou needed to cope. He wore the bare minimum to be socially acceptable. A white t-shirt, black and yellow shorts (with his handy-dandy tool pouch because 'you never know'), and his black ninja sandals because they are the only open toed shoes he owns. Even still, it wasn't enough. A young girl, looking to be from the slums, had a tiny rickety wooden booth set up on the corner of two major streets. On one side of her was a long glass of lemonade and plastic cups and on the other was a sign that said '1 glass = $1.50.' 'A bit pricy for a lemonade stand.' Kou thought as he removed the slow beads of sweat trickling down his forehead. 'Then again, I'm still gunna buy it. She's smart.'

"One glass, please."
