Demon of the Mist

Demon of the Mist
Kiri Anbu Captain
Kiri Anbu Captain

Oh, oh, oh,… woe woe woe….. poor poor poor,  Hakai. These sentiments were all the various doctors had said to the great man; like all great man he would die. His time was just much closer than it should have been. Hakai with no last name was in fact a Hozuki and from this powerful clan he inherited from his father; his demise would emerge.  A rare disease now haunted his very existence, non-contentious but acute and aggressive. His cellular structure was slowly mutating, his molecules bonds were deteriorating, and they were turning into liquid permanently.  No real symptoms of the disease would be present, besides the occasional uncontrollable bodily fluid discharge. Aside from that the man would one day just splash into water, permanently. Unable to reform into a shinobi ever again; a fitting end to a man who truly loved water.

Because of his illness he spent a massive amount of time in the Mist Village Hospital. Normally Hakai spent at least a few hours a week there, handing out flowers, flirting with the young nurses and even causing some mischief. But now was different, the staff that were once a small circle of his social regime was now his only social circle. They were the only ones who knew his condition; he ran the entire Anbu from the hospital. Since his diagnostic his personality, mental state and emotion grip were shifting. The joy filled man was losing his grasp on reality; nothing was the same.  He no longer went for walks; he no longer explored the unique wildlife of the Mist village or Mist citizens as most people knew them. The kind man that was Hakai slowly began not to exist. That man died the moment his mortality was put into perspective, every moment was now important, every moment was serious.

This outlook came from his ponderous of his legacy; he was the Demon of the Mist. What were his accomplishments, what was left? Nameless faces etched into his memory from a lifetime of killing, missions no one even knew about. The countless times he had served the Village Hidden in the Mist and what was it for, what was his purpose? He spent hours staring down at the people of his village, what would become of his village. He was haunted day and night by these conundrums and more so the solution, the only answer that came to him in the dead of night; HAMBONE. It was time for Hakai to stop being Hakai and for the Demon of the Mist to truly take over. He was going to go HAM to the BONE, and you could tell by his tone. His soul was on loan, his banker was death and soon he’d be coming to collect. So he would pile bodies behind him to slow the great reaper down if only for a moment.

Today would be the start of this pile, he was in his hospital when a nurse would run in franticly speaking, “A sound ninja, top floor 501. He checked in moments ago he is in serve condition. I tho—.” She would get cut off as the Demon of the Mist with weapons in hand race past her. Since the invasion weeks ago no shinobi from other villages was allowed into the village without constant monitoring. Strict orders were given that all foreign shinobi’s identity and whereabouts would be told to Demon. The nurses were plainly aware of these instructions as medical ninja. Racing up the stairs he would create a clone directly behind him, the copy of Demon wearing the same Anbu mask. The clone would grab the massive clever styled broad sword from Demon of the Mist’s back and turn around, guarding the stairs. The clone would stand back to the wall facing the hallway Demon was sprinting down. The clone would wait with the stairs directly on his right the massive blade in hand he would wait to ambush anyone who came up the stairs; the legendary blade in his hand, thirsting for a victim.  There was only one way to the upper floors of the hospital and his clone would be the gate keeper.  The real Demon of the Mist would sprint down the hall way, his back being watched by his clone. As he moved he would drop five slips of paper each with a unique seal on them. Arriving at the doorway a minute after the man was given the room. The door left open by a rubber stopper as nurses hustled in and out, turning into the room he would see the man lying down on the hospital bed.  The man appeared extremely tired and was clear in need of a nights rest. He would not find that here, why he thought the Mist would offer him sanctuary was a notion Demon could not understand. As the only high ranking shinobi of the Mist village it was his job and obligation to deal with foreign threats.

His arrival was a clear indication for what the Mist medical staff members to get the fuck out. If his presence alone wasn’t enough Hakai would release four kunai from each hand, from each attach with an explosive tag . The first four aimed at only window in the room, the only possible escape; even though the window like all windows in this building were seals upon instillation. With the speed and precision of a weaponry master they would stab into the inner frame of the window; the remaining four aimed for the shoulders and knees of the man.  Samehada quickly in hand Hakai would speak while nurses ran past and kunai flew through the air in a loud stern voice, “WHY have you come, Sound Scum?” If his answer wasn’t acceptable he wouldn’t survive the next few moments. Hakai was a man but he wasn’t here; he was talking with a Demon now, the Demon of the Mist. The member of the Mist Village Anbu who truly believed his home was the greatest in the world, was gone. All that was left was a Demon in the shell of a dying man. His powerful chakra would flow out everyone on the same floor as him would feel his chakra. The demonic presence of the Demon who resides in the Village of the Mist. This Demon would be his savior and allow him to heal or he would send him to the reaper to get collected.

Hakai would kill the threat and return to his bed where he would rest and return to his shinobi duties.
