A room that was what you had been in with other Genin teams before being shoved into a hallway, the door closed behind you. Small the hallway was, not being enough space for those within to walk side by side, forcing them to walk behind one another, but that doesn’t matter much for you see a door a couple feet away. With the door behind you being locked, you and your group decide to head towards the door a couple feet in front of you. Upon opening the door, you walk into a room a little larger than the one you had left. Once all have stepped into the room, the door closes behind you of its own accord, preventing you from going back.

Hidden within this badly lit, grey walled room are two plaques that have a riddle written on it. Near one of these plaques is a lever, which must be turned the right way in order for you to advance to the next test, and the riddles will assist you in making the right choice. Written upon the plaque closes to the lever is the following:

I am a button
That cannot be pushed or pulled
But when moved in the right way
I will show you your dream
But if moved wrongly
You will crash and burn

On the other plaque, the following is written:

I am a wall
Yet I am a Door
If you can find me
You can pass
But if you can't
You will fall

Armed with these two riddles and a lever that is your gateway to the next test, you and your team must now figure it out.

[Each member of the squad has 3 posts to figure out the riddle and how the lever factors into things. If you and your squad cannot figure it out in 3 posts, your team won’t be advancing to the next stage. Utilize the lever improperly, well that shall remain a surprise.]

Toshizōu awaited for the famed Chuunin Exams to actually occur. Many Genin teams were among the group inside the room they were being held in. People from Konoha, another from Kirigakure. There could have been others but Toshizōu was immediately hustled straight into a hallway from an unknown source. He didn't hear the door close behind him immediately, meaning someone or others had been hustled in with him. The thing was though, he couldn't exactly turn around and see. The hallway was extremely narrow and didn't even allow others to stand side by side let alone trying to awkwardly turn around. He just continued forward towards the door he saw in front of him. Once he entered through the door he noticed the very dimly lit room was slightly larger than the other. The door was once again closed behind him. Immediately in front of him were two plaques and a lever.

Each plaque had a cryptic message on it. Toshizōu sighed and turned to face his would be ally in the Chuunin Exams.

"Interesting..."

A child. Toshizōu didn't know what age she was or why exactly such a young child was in the Chuunin Exams but she could probably help with the riddle at least somewhat. Toshizōu shifted his position further towards the girl's left to allow her to see the plaques and the lever and then turned back around. A button that can't be pushed or pulled. This was probably pertaining towards the lever. It looked as though it was meant to be turned and not pulled, much like the lock on a safe. It was either left or right but the puzzle said the wrong way and you could potentially "crash and burn", which didn't sound very entertaining in any way. Toshizōu was a fighter, not a code breaker. This would prove to be rather challenging for him.

The second plaque spoke of a wall that was also a door. Toshizōu had heard of many doors like these that had hidden passages. Ones where levers were usually pulled and then a wall or book case would turn and reveal another room. This time they had to actually search for the wall. At least that's what the plaque had said. Toshizōu assumed that he didn't have much time because the Chuunin Exams wouldn't take forever. Toshizōu turned towards his fellow ninja and smiled.

"Now usually doors have some type of metal in them, especially hidden doors. They usually have gears or something of the like that will have them open the door or reveal it when something is triggered. That lever will most likely do that, however I'd like to see where the door is before I even turn the lever. What do you think of using a Raiton technique to give away the door?"

Shinku Oshiro

The Second Crimson Princess

Small rooms, Shinku never liked them much since they restricted her movements and thus her capabilities to react to a threat. The hallway she had been shoved in before she could get a good description of everybody in the previous room was no exception. But she had the fortunes of being much smaller than everybody else, and thus it wasn’t very cramp for her. She hadn’t be shoved into the room alone though, somebody much taller than herself stood before her and she had to tilt her head up so that she may look at the back of his head. She stared at him, or maybe it was a her though she doubted it by build alone, in curiosity. When the figure before her began to walk, she followed, her mismatched eyes never leaving the back of the individual’s head.

She stepped into the slightly larger, dimly lit room with the boy, and her eyes drifted from his head to look around the room. She cocked her head to the side as she inspected the room, eyes landing on several things within the non-descriptive room before snapping back to the boy who would serve as her teammate for the duration of the exam. She had only been able to see the three interesting things within the room due to him moving, and that she thanked him for. Riddles for the first test, how very intriguing to the young Shurajo, especially since she had never guessed that such a thing would be involved in an exam. Than again, she hadn’t really known of the Chunin Exams until her sister had told her of them, and she had found out only a week or two ago. Sure, not a lot of time for the average person to prepare, but more than enough for her.

Anyway, there were two riddles that did what riddles did best, subtly hand at all the information in the fewest words possible. What one did with the information they gather from the riddle depended upon the person, and she guessed that that was the entire point of this particular test. Can one make the right decision even when they possessed little information, as well as can one use the little amount of information they have to their advantage, and for this child soldier that would be a definite yes. Her mind continued to process the information that was entering it, and she only snapped out of her thoughts with the voice of her teammate reaching her ears. Her eyes snapped back up to his face, and he was smiling may she add, as he spoke to her. For a moment, Shinku gave him a questionable look, but moving behind him and latching herself onto his leg, she nodded in agreement. Finding the door would be best, but rather or not it be a waste of time was to be seen.

Toshizōu stared down at the puzzled looking face for a moment and then watched as she latched onto him and nodded in agreement. So cute. However time was a wasting and Toshizōu knew he didn't have a whole lot of it. He smiled once more at the girl and then thought about the riddle again. You will fall, crash and burn...the riddle literally hinted that they would possibly fall and be incinerated. Toshizōu looked at the girl once more pondering something and then spoke to her.

"I suggest you get on my back, I wouldn't want you getting hurt by my own technique. It travels across multiple surfaces and shocks things. It would be a shame for my own partner to be hurt by me. Furthermore the floors are most likely trap doors hence what the riddle hinted. So in case my jutsu triggers anything like the floors or the door itself I'd like to at least be prepared for it. Would you mind riding on my back piggy back style? It'll help us get out of here, I'm sure of it."

Toshizōu reached to pick up the girl and place her on his back. If she accepted he would place her on his back and tell her to hold on. Then he would focus chakra flow into his feet allowing him to stand onto surfaces like trees and walls. He would then proceed to place his feet on the wall and climb up it far enough to be a good ways out of the floor's possible reach. Once on the wall he would let out a series of hand seals and send electricity throughout the room hoping something would happen or reveal itself.

If the little girl refused he would show a face of disappointment and then proceed the wall climbing and telegram flash anyways. He didn't want the girl hurt, but if he didn't do anything more than likely they both would end up dying. Toshizōu was also kind but he wasn't necessarily generous. He lived in a cruel hearted world where they allowed children like this girl's age to be ninja. For this to stop something had to end up giving. Toshizōu was going to make that happen.

Shinku stopped herself from rubbing her face into the older boy’s leg, for the boy was now talking to her again. Her mind processed his words, and deemed that listening to him would be beneficial to her health. Thusly so, when he reached to pick her up, she didn’t resist. She wrapped her arms around his neck, resting her head on his left shoulder as her legs wrapped around his waist. As the older boy proceeded to climb the wall, Shinku mind went back to the riddles at hand, thinking up an answer whilst her teammate figured out where the door was.

Her mind went over the riddles once again as her eyes traveled to the lever that rested near the second plaque that bore the instructions of how to turn it. Her eyes narrowed, zeroing in on the lever as her mind continued to piece the puzzle together. There wasn’t much time left, or at least she believed that there wasn’t a lot of time left to figure out what they were to do about the lever, so she dug deep into her mind for an answer. She slowly dissected the riddle, giving each word a meaning in her mind and soon enough a smile would cross her face. She would snuggle her face into the Kaguya’s shoulder, stifling a giggle for she knew the answer.

“Onii-san, Shinku solved the riddle,” Shinku whispered into his ear, “we turn it left. How is the door coming?”

As the lightning danced across the non-conductive surface of the walls and the floors, they duo heard a metallic hum as if the walls were absorbing the electricity for later use. The Kaguya would also notice that with every step he took on the wall he felt it vibrate throughout his entire body. It was as if the wall was sending the force of his steps back through his body.

The jutsu almost did nothing at all. The door wasn't revealed in the slightest and all Toshizōu heard was a metallic him as if to say the walls just ate up all the chakra he sent throughout the room. It wasn't exactly a huge waste but it did tell Toshizōu that he should probably get off the walls. Every step he took to get down felt like it was being sent right back at him. Toshizōu reached the ground and placed the girl back down. He sighed, took a glance back at the two plaques and then turned back to the girl again.

"You sure it's the left way? The puzzle hints almost that it's the right way. But if you're positive, why not? I don't have any other answers."

Toshizōu walked over to the lever and then looked around the room once more.

"If we die here, I'm sorry I couldn't do much other than that jutsu. It was nice meeting you young one."

Once again another smile was sent to the girl and then Toshizōu placed his left hand on the lever with his right hand in the air balled into a fist. The back of his hand was facing towards the girl's way but the gesture was in no way directed towards her. His middle finger began to unfold from the balled up fist. This middle finger was directed to anyone who was watching them struggle to find an answer.

"Fuck this world."

With that the lever was turned to the left, all the while his smile still on his face but his eyes appeared determined. If he was going to die it was going to be in style, not because of some piece of shit Shinobi who thought killing others was a test.

The footsteps seemed to echo throughout Kouketsu's body as he walked off the wall. And then he turned the lever to the left.

The lever grinding against the sides until it was locked into place on the left.  Then the entire room began shaking violently.  It was as if the room was collapsing in on itself.  Something they should be afraid of.  And as quickly as it had started, it stopped.  Then with an audible hiss and a gust of fresh, cool wind rushed into the room.  Ahead of them was a dark tunnel that carried a moist wind from within it's depths.  They could hear a faint lapping of water deep down.
