Meeting the Team

It was the day after Mei had been assigned a team. She wanted time to get to know them and see their behaviors. Mei was very excited and speang up out of bed. They were supposed to meet at 10 on the training grounds. So Mei washed up and threw on her ANBU uniform. The team wasn't allowed to see her face or know her information. Mei ate, then put her mask on, and she ran out the door. She still had 30 minutes and it would only take her 10 to get there but she wanted to be there first.

Mei hurried along crowded streets of the village. The village was always very busy. There were people running errands, taking their children to the academy, having fun, and just doing what they did on a daily basis. Mei loves the streets it was a placd were she could watch the people she cared about the most. The were all so care free and wonderful people. Mei was lost in though until she was bumped and realized she had to get going. She finally made it to the training grounds and nobody was there. She still had a couple minutes left so she started qaiting

Mei had been waiting a while and was very worried when it was almost 10. Maybe they woukdn't come or maybe they are just late she was thinking. Mei smsat there staring up at the sky with her head full of thoughts and worries. Suddenly, She saw a boy coming her way. She thought he would be alot younger considering he was a genin but he was about her age. He was supposed to be an Uchiha so at his age he would nornally be an ANBU or even better. So, she wondered why he was still a genin.

As he walkes up to her, he seemed to bow. Mei liked that he was very polite but it wasn't really her style. "Welcome to the team. No need to be so formal. Your teammate should be here soon so sit tight." Mei said in a calm voice. As soon as she had said this a voice came from behind her. "Yes that would be us! Welcome to the team!" Mei had called back to the girl. She was not as well mannered but Mei liked her. This would be interesting. Mei's face was still covered because she was not allowed to show anyone her face.

Mei looked at both of the Genin they hadn't even said a word to each other. She knew that if this team was going to work they would have to get to know each other. Mei would also have to test them. Most Genin thought it was more exciting to fight for their first test so after thinking about it Mei decided what they would do.

"In order for us to work together and get on to your training we are going to start off a slight bit different than most would. We are going to get to know eachother and then we will move on with my lesson." Mei said this very calmly and somewhat happier than most ANBU would say it. She thenlooked to her two Genin who were standing away from each other. "If you would please come taje a seat over her next to each other we can begin." She said once more in her calm voice, "We will also be going over some rules for the team." This was the most important part considering she was an ANBU her identity had to be kept secret outside the gates.

Mei watched as Yuudai did as she asked still being quite polite. Then, she turned to Rubi who started to cut a boulder. These were some interesting ones but she knew she could deal with them. She watched Rubi make an effort to be friendly to her teammate. Then, she waited for Yuudai's response and continued.

"I'm glad to see you can listen to orders and make an effort to work together." Mei said very professional sounding. "Let's try a deeper question. What are your goals for the future?" She asked. This would help her think about how to train these two and what she needed to touch on.

Mei thought maybe they will both have a little something in mind. She didn't think their goals would be too much but then she heard Yuudai say he didn't have one. That was very interesting but no matter she didn't mind. Then, shortly after Rubi said she wanted ro be an ANBU. She was alittle surprised at that. Rubi didn't seem like the kind of person who would want to reach jer goals so high. When Mei saw Rubi's smile however, it was somewhat different and not exactly a good feeling.

Mei thought for a moment. The Kazekage sure did give her some interesting genin. Still she knew she could get something out of them. "Yuudai you don't have a goal you say? Well we will just have to find you one. Rubi you wish to be an ANBU? Well you've got your work cut out for you I hope you are ready." Mei said in her dull voice. "So, are you ready to start training?" She asked after a while in a slight smile under her mask.

Mei stood watching the two. Yuudai didn't seem like he was very into any of this and Rubi seemed a little too into it. Mei decided to keep an eyes on Rubi. Mei studied Rubi's Sword for a moment. Then she carried on. "Alright. Your Goal is to work together to touch my mask 3 times within 24 hours without putting a scratch on it. If you succeed then good but if you fail...well let's not. When your ready say so and we will begin." Mei wanted to give them time to think before they started.

“How quaint and inconspicuous of you, Rubi-san,” Yuudai would say, his comment directed at her words. His words were not meant to be sarcastic nor condescending, but he was never sure how people would receive his comments, which were merely observations. In actuality, the words that had flowed from his mouth had been a slip of the tongue, since the boy would much rather had kept it to himself, per his perfectly constructed personality. Oh well, what done was done and he would not dwell on the matter. Unless, of course, Rubi retaliated with her words or her fist, even worse her nasty looking sword. But hopefully the girl would have enough self-control to not attack him, or at least have a sense of humor to laugh the comment off.

His attention turned back to Mei-sensei as she spoke of the task the duo would under go. “For clarity sake, what happens if the mask is scratched?” Yuudai would ask. One could tell what he was referring to due to his not to subtle words, but who really cared at the moment? He had half the mind to tell Rubi that she should put her sword away since said thing would not be necessary, but didn’t feel like it. Instead, whatever Mei said about the consequences of scratching her mask would be the thing that would hopefully determine rather or not Rubi would sheathed her sword.

As he awaited the answer to that question, he would begin to wonder if Rubi and himself would even be able to complete the task. But his mind would not dwell on it for long, for they had to complete the task. Or face what horrors Mei-sensei had cooked up from them, and he had a feeling it had nothing to do with rainbows and flowers.

Mei stood there looking at the genin. When she heard Yuudai's comment she stared at him or so it may have looked to some people but it was more like a glare. "Well now Yuudai that's not how we treat comrades." This was said in a more blank and cold tone. Mei was not one for rude comments so after a while she looked away. She watched as Rubi was getting ready and saw that Rubi had said nothing about Yuudai's comment. That seemed rather odd for Rubi's personality but Mei was just glad nothing had happened before their first traininh excersize.

Mei was starting to get ready for the training until she heard a question. What would she do? Well Mei didn't want to ruin that little surprise so she stood there and stared at the two once again. "Let us not worry about that just don't scratch the mask and everything will be fine." Then Mei gave a slight grin.

Yuudai frowned behind his mask as Mei-sensei reprimanded him for his earlier comment on Rubi’s behavior. This is why he kept his mouth shut and kept comments to himself. He had not meant the comment to sound rude or anything, just an observation. But, he guessed it rubbed his sensei the wrong way for one reason or another which got him in trouble. He would mentally kick himself, for he really did not like being in trouble, and swore not to utter another word. Such a task would prove difficult now that he thought about it, and he made a mental note to purchase pen and paper to take to future meetings so that he could stick to his promise of not speaking in the presence of Mei-sensei and Rubi-san.

Okay, maybe he would speak during this meeting, but very little. That sounded much better than not speaking at all, especially since Rubi-san and himself had a task to complete that would require communication. He would mumble a low ‘no’ that would be hard for anyone to hear due to his low voice as well as the mask that tended to muffle his voice. His gaze would turn to the cracked earth below his feet, and he would continue to look upon it as Mei-sensei responded to his question and thus missed the grin that had graced her face.

He would silently wait for Rubi-san to suggest a plan, as he continued to stare at the ground below.

Chi was running through the village panicy, being late to meet her group. "CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!" She screamed as he ran towards the grounds. She got their JUST as they were about to start, still full of energy as she stood in front of everyone and smiled. "Hi! Chi Suna at your service.~" She said, using her preferred name and not her real name. Recognizing the other Uchiha, she checked him off the list in her head. Lucky her, another Uchiha in the group. She smiled, and then walked closer to everyone, her heart still racing. "You girls are Mei Sensie and Rubi I presume?" She said knowing their names from the squad they were told to go to and who they were. She checked Rubi’s face off the list from her memories of her face at the academy. She had memorized all of it, all about them from the academy, mostly because energetic to join a team. She was confused by her teacher’s outfit. ANBU, obviously doesn’t want us to see much, mysterious… She liked mysterious. She bowed at her sensie, acknowledging her as her teacher and as a ANBU member. Who knows, maybe with her help she can become just as strong as one.

Mei loomed over to Yuudai for a second then loomed away. 'Great now I've upset him.' She thought to herself. This is exactly what she didn't want to happen. So, she.looked down for a moment and listened to the genin walk away. Perhaps after the training she would appologize. Mei looked over to see them talking out a strategy. She could have read Rubi's lips to see what she was saying if she wanted but Mei knew many things they could do and would know how to act in most situations. So, she looked the other way so they would have a chance.

Then, Mei heard a noise far off. So, she.looked toward the noise. It was another genin she had assumed. Since, the person had given their name and knew who everyone was. "Hello Welcome to the team." Mei hadn't realized there woukd be another one but she didn't mind. "We were just fixing to start training. Yout team will telk you everything you need to know." Mei then looked away and waited to see how.the genin woukd all react to eachother.

Yuudai would follow Rubi silently, a sigh escaping pass his lips as he cocked his head to the side. He listened to the plan that Rubi had concocted within the dark confines of her mind, and honestly to someone else the plan would seem fine. Except, he was not like most people who would agree to such a plan, instead he was the kind of person to dissect the plan. Albeit he would not voice his opinion aloud due to the fact that he had nothing better in mind, he still allowed his mind to slowly pull apart her plan.

First thing first, the fact that her plan really didn’t take into consideration the skills somebody from Anbu held, especially someone like Mei-sensei. Even though he did not aspire to be amongst their ranks, Yuudai still held a great deal of knowledge due to his ties with some Anbu members. What he wanted Rubi to note was that Mei, due to her position, would be less likely to be ambushed than the average person. It was something the woman should expect of her opponents and thus something that would not work against her.

Moving onto his second point, they had absolutely no clue what skills Mei possessed. She could be a sensor, though chances were low since not many people decided that sensory would be a good technique to have, but still. If the woman indeed has sensory, sneaking up on her was pointless. And there –

Yuudai’s head snapped towards where Mei had been left, his train of thought derailed by the entrance of one who announced herself to be Chi. He frowned slightly, for he knew of her, a girl who hailed from the Uchiha clan though he only heard of her in passing. Usually he would loathe being on a team with someone from his clan, but with her cheerful greeting, he decided that she was not one of the stereotypical Uchiha that roamed the lands.

He waved for the girl to come over, for she needed to be filled in on the plan brewed by none other than Rubi. And since Rubi was the one to have made the plan, he would leave it to her to explain it. Once she came over, the boy would utter a greeting, glancing in her general direction before focusing his attention back on the task at hand. Touching the mask of Mei, three times.
